My friend and I went to dinner around the block and she wanted to stop here to pick up some thing before going home. The owner was so kind and gave us a treat along with our order. I only got two pistachio cookies as they were quite large. My friend also got the cookies along with some big pieces of baklava. I'm not sure if the older gentleman was the owner or a baker, but either way he was so kind. The pastries have an amazing texture and are not at all overly sweet. Very well balanced- the baklava is great and isn't overflowing in syrup unlike other places in the area. The bakery is sweet and straight to the point. it's cozy and feels like a good mom and pop shop. make sure to check it out! P.s. we didn't know what to get and he walked us through everything and gave us whole pastrie as sample! the Nutella bread has a cream centers that keeps it balanced, not sweet. read more

I stopped in with my girl before dinner since there was a wait. The gentleman smiled over at us and came over. Immediately he grabbed a raspberry cookie and handed it to us. Delicious and super fresh. Not too sweet, which keeps you going back for more. Then we got a spinach and feta bread which was also delish. I am honoring Kuday Turkish Bakery with my 300th review because it's one of those special places that affirms my belief in the power of food to unite humanity. The kind baker behind the counter, tirelessly turning out fresh baked breads and pastries until 9 pm, says to me "I refuse to sell you anything you haven't tasted". He proceeded to give me a sample of EVERYTHING, and not just itty bitty bites but a complete serving. I was embarrassed when I walked out with only an $8 bill because it felt like I'd robbed the guy of $60 worth of dessert, but when I offered to tip him extra he smiled at me and said "You enjoy the dessert, that is reward enough for me". At Kuday, the variety is limited, but never before has QUALITY over quantity meant more. The first thing you'll see walking in is the baklava and khanafe, front and center: you MUST eat what might be the most flavorful baklava and khanafe I have ever had. The hints of cinnamon laced through the WARM layers of buttery filo, drenched with sweet syrup was to die for. Don't forget about the savory side of things! A freshly baked Spinach Bun was one of the most delicious things I've ever had in my life. Fluffy on the inside with a spinach filling full of so many amazing flavors I can't even identify or describe them, I almost went back into the store and bought every single one he'd just baked. Great Turkish baklava!! The yufka (filo) used for the baklava here is definitely fresh and handmade. That's the only way the baklava can be so tender. It reminds me of the bakeries that I'd go to in Istanbul. If you want authenticity, this is your place! All that said, the owner is the nicest man. He offered us generous samples of the sobiyet (which he actually filled with kaymak - clotted cream - unlike many Turkish bakeries around the area) and kunefe when we came in. We got both, naturally. Today was my 4th time visiting this place and it never disappoints. The owner is so kind and friendly. I was curious about a cookie's flavor and he gave me one for free. It was so good that I ended up purchasing another one. The cookie had cranberry, walnut, and almond and it was specular. He gave me a freshly baked one not one that was on the counter display. Previously, I have had their breads that feature spinach and cheese and I'm so obsessed I purchased three. Amazing savory and sweets! I think it's illegal to buy something there without tasting it LOL Even though you've bought it before, it doesnt matter. You have to do a taste test once you set a foot in the bakery :) I dont mind all this because everything they make is SOOOOOOO DELICIOUS. They make deserts, cookies, baklava, bread and other yummy things. The owner greets you with a big smile and is very courteous as well as sweet just like the deserts he bakes from scratch.
