Can't say enough good things about this place. The kunafa is easily the best we've had in the US and the staff is really amazing.

This is a huge desert shop with a huge chandelier. They have tons of different desserts to choose from. We got the Kanafa. It was introduced to me as a cheesecake by my friend. They cut you a piece off of a warm skillet upon which they are adding a sweet topping every so often. To me it tasted like a sweet mozzarella stick. I also bought some baklava, sesame cookies, and some fig based desserts. The lady was very friendly and made sure there were no walnut products. The baklava was really good and I enjoyed the Kanafa. But I dont think the others were quite up to my taste. read more

Let me start by saying that I generally do not like desserts that are very sweet, so take this review with a grain of salt (sugar?). Middle Eastern desserts, including the ones here, use a lot of syrup, giving me too much of a sugar rush that I feel a little sick after consuming even one or two items. This pastry shop has a large selection if you don't mind (or even embrace!) the sugar rush: baklava, kanafeh, basbousa, Turkish delight, and many desserts that I don't even know the names of. My favorite is probably the kanafeh, although the kataifi dough could be more crispy (1 star off). The basbousa was more creamy pudding than semolina cake, so I wasn't into the texture (1 star off). The area around the shop is somewhat shady. I only stopped by for five minutes to grab a few items, but there were a few men loitering outside. I wouldn't be surprised if my car gets broken into if I stayed longer. Nablus is a good shop with a large variety of Middle Eastern desserts, but I just don't think it is my cup of tea (dessert?). read more

If you're craving sweets, then Nablus is your spot. Their goodies are baked daily. We got couple orders of Kunafa.( crunchy buttery dessert from shredded pastry layers and creamy soft milk pudding). I took one bite and that was enough for me. The kunafa were delicious though. All the goodies were nicely displayed and they had plenty of varieties of items. Looking at the Google reviews I dropped in Nablus sweets .. shop was kinda empty when I went and I didn't know where to order because there were some people on the left line and some on the right . Service was pathetic ! I went right side to order and I was asked to wait . The lady was really grumpy ! As if I know the names of all sweets , she also didn't want to help. Then a group of people come in , starts talking in Arabic and the lady starts helping them !!!! Not knowing Arabic and we feel treated different !!!! I asked the lady what the name of sweet in the pan is - and she starts complaining to her co-assistant in Arabic that I didn't know the name and keeps shaking her head ! How would I know ?? Then another lady told its khunafa and asked to pack that . I would have given 5/5 if not for the service and treatment in the store.. Sweets were really good z baklava was awesome . We got the knafe and rice putting and one nut Mamoul. I think this is the best knafe I've had so far in New York and New Jersey area. I didn't really like the rice pudding, everyone make it different and I perfer rose water rice pudding, this one tasted very vanilla. As far as the mamoul, it was the best I've had, I liked how thin the nuts were crushed and blended. Very good service, it was fast. The restaurant was very clean and big, there is also a prayer area upstairs which is nice. This dessert is filled with soft, sweet cheeses and soaked into a sugary syrup (typically orange blossom water or rose water), then topped with pistachios. Both were delicious and fresh; I actually usually prefer the Knafeh Na'meh (aka the smooth top one) but their Knafeh Kishneh (aka crunchy top) is so much better! My only complaint is my slices were completely different sizes and I would prefer the option to have both square slices. Otherwise, Nablus will not disappoint. read more

After lunch at a nearby restaurant, I grabbed a small tray of desserts for the rest of the day. The woman working the counter was helpful, as they have a large selection of items I hadn't tried. The pistachio baklava was excellent. I had two different types of cookies which were also quite good. Sweet pieces of a thin cake were delicious. My favorite of all was their kunefe in a log shape. Ever since my husband moved from Michigan, we've been woefully lacking in good Middle Eastern food. By chance, I realized that there was a whole strip of restaurants in Paterson, so I suggested we stop by after running errands in Paramus. I miss kunafa so much, all the time. I stepped into Nablus to pick up some kunafa and also some other sweets. They were so nice and helpful here. I even got a free date cookie! FOOD - the sweets are so good! I got them at night around dinner time and it didn't taste super fresh but still tasty. I had the Kanafe (delicious ooey gooey sweet), a sesame flavor sweet (which was my favorite), something covered in coconut shavings (coconut-y and not too sweet), and a few others that were meh but those three I recommend! SERVICE - chaotic. Not friendly just very businessy. I went and it was busy time (around dinner time on a Saturday). They do work fast for taking orders and packing them up which is great. However when multiple employees are helping multiple customers at the same time is gets chaotic. I wanted to see the name of what I was ordering from the tray behind the long counters but I couldn't because there was another customer standing there putting in his order and then right behind him was the order line. COVID - not good. The tables inside for seating are spaces out from each other but the line to order is right next to them which defeats the purpose of spacing out the diners. The line is squished inside the store and up the stairs, people didn't really distance themselves while waiting in line. I always have to stop at this bakery at least twice every time I'm in Jersey. In love with their sweets and this means a lot because I'm picky! Freshly made Middle Eastern ma'moul to basboosa to baklawa. The ma'moul tastes just as fresh even after two weeks of purchasing it (I didn't finish it in one sitting only because I didn't want to gain 20lbs in one day but if it wasn't for that they would've disappeared. They do an amazing job! Prices? Very reasonable for the amount and quality of sweets that you buy. I don't recommend stopping late at night for the chinefa/knafeh because it won't really taste fresh since it's most likely done much earlier. Customer service? Best customer service by the woman that wears the hijab(scarf)...I believe her name is Sameera. Make sure she's the one to attend you because she's so kind, helpful, and sweet mashaAllah. This is one of many places in the area serving sweets from around the Middle East but this place is well known for their kunafeh so I stopped here and caught the next bus. The woman here was nice (and surprised I was there.) The kunafeh/kunefe here is ridiculously good and pretty cheap. Nice and hot and stuffed with cheese and not too syrupy sweet. Excellent and easily the best of this style I have had. For people who don't want the more pistachio laden ones and prefer the Middle Eastern variety, I'd go here instead. I'd stop at Antepli otherwise for the Turkish variety though you have to wait as they make theirs to order. The date/pistachio ma'mouls was good as well but nothing can compare to that kunafeh. My husband and I went on our last day in the area. We walked this long strip and we were so happy when we found this area. Nablus Pastry was delicious! There weren't many tables upstairs because of social distancing but their prices were fair and the baklava was divine! We took 4 trays back to florida with us to share with the family! I had a reservation at a restaurant near to this but could not stop without getting inside this place at first as it was full of people and looked very attractive from outside. We parked our car in front of it so could see everything inside so went inside to check it out. They have so many dessert options, including different variety of baklavas, biscuits(I have posted a picture as they have a different name, calling them biscuits because they are shaped like them :D) and Kenafa. They also have mini baklava packs. After dinner, me and husband came here as we have to try something from here because everything looked amazing when we first came here. We asked for their best dessert and the lady gave us a slice of Kenafa and some other things to try as well. She said taste them first and whichever you like the best she will give more of that, she was so kind. Kenafa was really delicious, I ate half of it. The other things that we got were amazing too but kenafa was the winner. We ended up buying more. As we were there, people were coming and ordering kenafa. It is the most popular dessert of theirs. I also noticed that they had tons of kenafa plates, as soon as one finishes, they replace with another one. I would definately come here for Kenafa. I tried this place for the first place last night. I love Kenafeh as this is truly my favorite dessert in the whole world. Whine the owner was very nice lady and extremely very friendly, the service was very slow. There was a very long line of people and it mostly her alone helping everyone with a young gentleman who was helping her but had to run to the kitchen at the same time. I had to wait for a long tine for my take away order after they ran out if Kenafeh and I had to wait for the next tray. Then I realized after I left that she did not put enough syrup on my order which is so important. She did not even ask how much do I need. It all has to do with the level of service as she to rush to get to the rest of the customers. They did not have enough staff working and they'd don't have a good system to help customers during rush hours. Overall the Kenafeh was good but it was not the best. Loved this bakery. I had the knafeh khishneh with cheese, basbousa (namoura), harissa, hilbeh and the knafeh with custard and warbat. This is probably the best knafeh khishneh I've had outside of Palestine. I only wish I had them heat it so the cheese was a little more gooey. She offered but I declined so not her fault. But regardless of that the cheese was perfectly sweetened and the shi3riyeh on top was really was crunchy and not soggy. My next favorite was the namoura (Palestinian) or basbousa (Egyptian) as they refer to it. Same dessert, just different names in different countries. Its like harissa but thin and less cakey. Next fave was the hilbeh. Basically namoura but with fenugreek seeds. Fenugreek is bitter and its hard to get the flavor out of the seeds without the bitterness creeping in but they nailed it. I didn't taste the warbat but my mom did and she loved it. The staff is super helpful, knowledgeable and patient. Can't wait to return. read more

Three of us had lunch at a nearby restaurant, so instead of coming back later in the day, we made it a point to stop by before leaving the area. The bakery is clean and has an almost cafe-like feel to it. All of the pastries are displayed on the counter behind glass panes, while assorted cookies, macarons, and tortes among other goodies are in a glass bakery case. SWEETS and TREATS: -Palestinian-style Kanafeh ($5/slice): Interesting and tasty! It's kept warm on a heating tray near where the line starts, which I thought was pretty neat. The kanafeh itself is sweet and cheesy, while the firm phyllo topping complimented the soft and creamy base. Nablus' Kanafeh must be popular because there were only 5 slices left at around 2:30pm! -Warbat/Kullaj ($1.50/ea): Flaky and addictive! This was probably my favorite of the two. The flaky layers of phyllo soaked up the perfectly sweet syrup, adding more richness to the already tasty cream filling. A sprinkle of crushed pistachios tops off this decadent pastry. SERVICE: The owner was friendly and accommodating, and she was kind enough to describe the different pastries she offers at her bakery. OVERALL: Both the kanafeh and kullaj were good, but I plan on coming back to try the other pastries, particularly those that are heavy on pistachios. read more

This is a huge 2 floors bakery full of wonderful stuff and the woman served us was incredibly sweet. The Kunafa tasted seriously delicious and authentic!
