This bakery is in a plaza I frequent and I said let me pop in because I needed something sweet to deal with a bit of stress I was facing lol. The bakery itself is just what you'd want and expect a bakery to be. Baked goods everywhere with the smell of heaven in the air. The girls at the counters were super helpful and their service was totally 5 stars. It's the actual baked goods that while they looked amazing, the taste wasn't :( I got one of their specialty crumb cakes which I was most hopeful of and it just tasted like a cheese danish with bland crumb topping. The butter cookies with sprinkles on top were also super bland and not sweet at all. Ordered 2 items for delivery and I made an error in delivery address. I emailed the bakery immediately and asked the to correct my error and they responded that they would make the. correction. I went onto the website to check the order and saw they did make the shipping correction. However, when delivery went out and UPS notified me, the order was sent and delivered to the wrong address. I have emailed the bakery 3x about the order and they have ignored all emails. I am very disappointed in this company, at least respond to the emails. read more

We were customers for their delicious crumb cake until recently. No more. Purchased one and it was almost raw inside. I called and left a message on their vm and let them know and suggested a refund on my cc as we do not live nearby and I could not get there to exchange it. Never heard back, so I went in to explain and was met with zero customer service. "We don't check our vm", was the first response I received. Then I was asked if I took a photo of it to which I responded, "I would have if someone contacted me and asked me to, happily". "Well why didn't you try calling again," I was asked in a sharp tone. "Why should I call back again?" I responded. "You should be checking your voicemail when you have a business, shouldn't you? Again, I was told they don't. Not an excuse or reason. I explained that the cake must have been part of a batch that were all undercooked to which I was told, "no one else called to complain." "How would you know if you don't check your vm?" I said. What kind of customer service is this? Clearly NONE. They were given 2 opportunities to make amends and none were attempted. What would it have taken to apologize and offer up a pastry or cookie in place as I had my son with me, let alone another crumb cake. I thanked them for their 'stellar' customer service and proceeded to leave when one worker shouted out in a nasty tone, "have a nice day". REALLY? As a business owner myself, I will say that WHENEVER a customer might be dissatisfied with something, we go above and beyond to make it right so they'll continue to return and bring friends. And based on experience, it's been working beautifully. These ladies running this business need a lesson in customer etiquette and satisfaction. Read the entire review: I gave 3 stars out of kindness and generosity, because the product in which they produce was absolutely delicious. However, the experience in the customer service was not. They are simply resting on plates going back in three rows the woman pointed to the one she wanted.In no way she did she attempt to grab it or do anything inappropriate. Sometimes it's not what you say, but how you say it and that is absolutely the case here. The girl was obnoxious and made me wanna walk out . The woman she was talking to instantly apologized, and was taken aback by the tone of this child or woman , but pointed out that it was hard for her to describe which one she wanted because there's so many rows of open pastries. It was easier to point. Now it's my turn! Lucky me I don't have that girl as the person helping me. I have the girl with the glasses, so I am hopeful for a better experience. I was wrong ... I asked if they had donuts left and she said they did in the back. when she came out with my donut, I had asked for: " a piece of the cherry cheese crumb cake" I would like to point out that these crumb cakes are lined up right next to each other. Using the verbiage. "A piece" is a natural way to ask for this item. If you go in there, you will agree. her response was. "We don't sell pieces. We sell cakes." Again, another example of it's not what she said it's how she said it. She was extremely rude at this point. I didn't even feel comfortable asking them anymore questions I probably would've bought more items had I not gotten such a cold, rude, know-it-all response. As if I should be fully knowledgeable of the proper way to address their product and the fact that I even dared to ask for "a piece" was such an intolerable act that it required immediate discipline loud enough for anybody in the store to hear. That's how obnoxious this girl was. The one with the glasses who was working the day this post goes up. She packages my items and before she takes my credit card or gives me a total she asks me if I want receipt . That threw me a little bit because again kind of the opposite order of events here I said no, but I would like to know my total. When I pointed it out that normally people tell me my total, take my card, and then asked me if I want a receipt. I realize I made a mistake. I should've just kept my mouth shut and got the heck out of there, but was handed a cold shoulder,rude, Obnoxious, "I don't want to be here today" attitude by a child half my age That should not be working with the public if she doesn't know how to address them properly. Owners don't get to see every interaction that occurs with customers from the time they open until the time they close their doors. they have to intrust their businesses to select a few of people that will be the eyes, ears, and representation of what they want their business to stand for. These two girls should not be the face of a bakery that made some of the most delicious crumb cake I have ever eaten. I waited a long time to post this review as I wanted to make sure that I was being reasonable and not reacting out of anger. I went here last year around Thanksgiving as I have been a big fan of this bakery for many years. I actually drive almost 30 minutes for treats to bring my family for the holidays. Once the man in front of me ordered, and the young blonde girl behind the counter called next, I went to place my order and the man in front of me mistakenly thought he could have her do the rest of his order. I still tried to get her attention, but she refused to even look at me. Here I will note that I look very different from the other patrons in the bakery at the time... take that for what it's worth. The other workers saw this happening, and didnt acknowledge how I was being ignored by this girl. The middle aged woman who works there, who I have bought from for years, then went to help the person after me... what kind of service is that? The crazy thing is the man in front of me even apologized for what he did because he was confused by what was going on, and the middle aged women STILL DID NOT HELP ME. I always thought she was a manager or owner... perhaps she doesn't like people with my skin color. Who knows. Finally, after an upsetting amount of time where I was feeling humiliated, a brown haired girl (with absolutely great eye makeup said she would help me). Good to know one decent person works there. I used to go there regularly when I worked in the area and stopped going as often, but I will never go again and have stopped recommending it to others. For the area, there are plenty of bakeries without people like this blonde girl, who would love to have a diverse group clientele who doesn't look just like them :) Avoid this place if you don't want to be treated like a second class citizen. I've been coming here for years and they're legendary across our family. We'll regularly drive the 50-60 minutes to come here - it's that good! The crumb cake is famous and the best crumb cake ever. It will literally ruin any other crumb cake for you. They do other flavors too and ship worldwide. The crumb cake freezes beautifully. If you need more than one or want a custom crumb cake (yes, they'll do custom flavors), call a few days ahead. The cake is sold whole but you'll go through it quick because it's so good. This is a great bakery located in Clifton in the Styertowne shopping plaza. It's pretty small and easy to miss but it is definitely worth a stop. I've been here a few times so I've enjoyed a few of the baked goods. The chocolate cake, cookies, donuts, turnovers, and scones are all very good. No complaints about any of them. The slices of clicked chocolate cake are very good. The reason to come here for me is the crumb cake. It's up there with Muellers Bakery in Bay Head for the best I've ever had. It's definitely mostly crumb which I love. I always have them glaze it which makes it even better. If you stop here it's a must try. The employees behind the counter are always great and it's always clean. They do have fancy cakes and rolls which always look good. I wanted to get black forest cake for a friend's bday and found this bakery.. loved the reviews and called them.. one of the best bakeries ever they were so sweet in answering all my questions their 7 inch cake was 30$ and was soo good.. super soft and fresh. Will be visiting this place often. Only issue was they didn't have a disposable knife for cake and we really had a hard time finding one to cut the cake. It's located in a strip mall so there is plenty of parking and once you enter, you already know you're in for a treat. I must be admit I am not into sweets but everything looked really good and freshly made. The girl there recommended their Chocolate Mousse Cake as she said it was not overly sweet and super light. Well her recommendation was SPOT ON because my co-workers could not stop raving about this cake!! Their highly rated??? crumb cake was raw inside (like that one review with the photo that showed a rolled up dough ball, or I should say "fish bait"!) and the topping was a mushy unbaked mess (not at all crumbly). Also, the small triangular cookies (like the cream cheese ones my mom used to make) had NO flavor, NO butter AND dried out after 2 days to the hardness of a stone that'll break your teeth if you bite into them! While we grew up in Clifton and spend many hours in Styertowne and Rowe Manse, we did but cakes and donuts from this bakery. But it has been a long time and when we visited last weekend we tried their Cheese Raspberry danish. Wow . It was both delicious and filling. We will definitely go back when in the area. purchased two "mini cakes"....both were disappointing, to say the least. The German Chocolate cake had so much coconut frosting on the top that there was no chocolate taste in a slice of cake. The coconut overwhelmed everything. And the 'cake' part was dry. Also, too much frosting in general. The carrot cake....also lacking. So much icing! And it was plain sugary icing.....not the 'cream cheese' icing that is normally used on a carrot cake. This cake was less 'dry', but again, the icing overwhelmed the cake. I've purchased doughnuts at this bakery and enjoyed them. These two cakes, which I brought to dinner with friends, were disasters. And unenjoyable.
