In 2019, we had our Majestic fireplace installed by Kugel & Sons Fireplaces. When the fireplace was installed, the flame was very low. Kugel's son said that was normal and with time it would get higher...it never did. I called in January, 2020 and spoke to his wife, who said their first available appointment was March 3rd, 2020. At that time, we were also told that they no longer sold the Majestic brand. Mike Kugel came out and recommended a gas serviceman to call. He came out and told us to order 2 parts. We did. Why would we need to buy parts for a brand new fireplace? The gas guy came out and didn't know which parts we needed to use...left and never came back. November, 2021, fireplace still doesn't work. I called over 5 times to speak to Mike, the owner and still have not gotten a call back. I was told by the young girl that works in the office, he doesn't want to come out or call me back since the other guy had touched the fireplace. When it was Mike who told us to call him!! You all should be ashamed of yourselves. To not come out because of something that has been going on since installation. I do not recommend Kugel & Sons. They don't stand behind their work. They don't return phone calls. To spend over $6000.00 for a fireplace that doesn't work deeply saddens me. This is a classic example of "we have your money, so we can't/won't help you! Had an issue with our Gas fireplace and called Kugel and he and Christian came out in a reasonable time to check it out. After they realized the problem (needed valve) the would order and get back to me..weeks later I heard nothing??? I continued to call over and over and their VM was ALWAYS full and unable to leave a message!! Finally month later early in the morning they answered and said oh the part that came in and I don't think is the right one?? We need to reorder months go by and all I hear is crickets!!!! read more

This is an unreliable company, after giving me an estimate for work at my residence, they decided not to do the job. They had requested 75% of deposit before they could start on the job. After having sent the full deposit they decided the job was to difficult for them and they said they will return my deposit. That was in January of this year 2023, they have yet to do that and when I requested my deposit back on several occasions I was treated with menacing text messages. My deposit is $ 3000.00 Still I have not received and they don't respond to my emails or the messages via phone. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY, be aware of their charges and extras, I have found out from subcontractors that had to deal with this company that they are always looking for a way to extoll more unnecessary monies from the customers. It took nearly a month to get an appointment for Kugel to come to our house so they could see what needed to be done. I was told there would be a $75.00 fee to give an estimate for repair work, but then it took another couple of weeks after I paid the fee to get the estimate. When I FINALLY got the estimate and called to scheduled the work, I was told that I would have to pay half up front... $750.00...AND they could not do the work for 7 to 8 weeks after they receive the down payment. I called this company to repair my chimney. I was told there was a $75.00 charge to come out to give me an estimate. There was some confusion on the time I was told he would be out and he did finally show up. After looking over what needed to be repaired I also mentioned that I may want to replace the screen in the fireplace too. He left with my $75.00 and when I finally received the proposal it was for only the screen replacement. I called him several times and finally he called me back and I told him I never received the estimate for the repair to the chimney which is what I really needed done. I never write reviews and always give people the benefit of the doubt but this needs to be written. I am looking for an electric fireplace and wall build out so I contacted this company. The gentleman who came to my house seemed fine and there would be no issues. I was told to call him after he prepared an estimate so that I could pay the $75.00 charge for it. I did so and my paperwork was unable to be found. That was the first hint this company was disorganized. After shuffling papers for what seemed forever they were able to find mine and told me to first go pick out the stone I wanted for the wall and then to call back. I did so and emailed him a picture of what I wanted and also called him back and once again was told they had no clue who I was. The gentleman on the phone was the same person who was in my house and also who talked to me less than a week ago. I told him I was concerned that twice now he had no clue who I was and I wanted to make sure this project would be done correctly. He then stated he did not want my business and I should look elsewhere. This is a terrible way to do business and to treat potential new work and clients. This gentleman needs some better organization skills, temper management and overall a complete change in business practices. I don't care how long he has been in business but he definitely didn't make me put faith in his company and ability to get the job done right.
