Making any kind of big purchase can be fraught and stressful. You want to get a good deal, but it's like the people selling the things are trying to make that as difficult as possible. But I'm happy to say that getting our mattress at Mattress Xpress was probably the most pleasant "big purchase" shopping experience I've had. The showroom is absolutely massive, and no one was hanging around, watching our every move as we tried them out. We did meet Karl, and he directed us to some we'd like and answered any questions we had, but he mostly let us figure it out for ourselves, which was great because we were probably there for 1.5 hours going back and forth between our favorites. We ended up getting a great deal on a king size latex mattress. And even though it was one of the most expensive mattresses in their store, it was sooo much less than what you'd pay for a latex mattress elsewhere, and even less than a mid-range mattress at a big name store. We used to come back from traveling wishing that our bed at home was as comfortable as one in a hotel. Now that's reversed and our bed at home is more comfortable than any hotel.

I live in an older house, so when they were coming to deliver the bed that I had purchased it did not fit where I wanted it to fit so I needed to change the style of the entire purchase that I had made. So in the end I did get a bed that I did not originally purchase, but it was still a great purchase. Let's start with the customer service. We were greeted promptly and efficiently with a gentleman by the name of Brian. Brian was very friendly and knew exactly what I needed from the moment. I walked in the door and explain to him what was going on because I have a crushed spine. He walk us through the whole process and was very funny and took the time to let us try all the mattresses we wanted to try, and did not feel like we were being rushed at all. He gave us his cell phone number after the service was done in case we needed anything after the sale was complete to help with, which was very much appreciated because it ended up being Needed later on. The delivery of the platform and mattress was a little different because I was kind of skeptical about the whole process because I knew the size of my stairwell that it needed to go up and sure enough what we had purchased did not fit so we had to wait and Get a new platform in new bed than what we originally purchased, but Brian was with us the whole time walking us through the process and helping us out. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and because of the fact that he did what he did I would continue to return back to this location, I recommend that if you are in search of a bed that you check this place out it is definitely worth your while and by the way it's been the best night sleep I've ever had in my life I wake up refreshed and my wife is saying that I don't snore anymore lol I didn't think I snored. It's apparent that they have a set format that they follow to ascertain what your needs and wants are in order to provide you with the various options to meet those needs. If our sales rep did not know the answer to a question, she promptly inquired with a supervisor to find the answer. We were encouraged to try various mattresses in the store that met our criteria to help us make a final decision. After returning home to take some final measurements, we returned the following day to make the purchase. As should be expected, an effort was made to up-sale certain accessories and services. None were unreasonable, however. A holiday sale was in progress, so we were able to obtain a free adjustable base, and a free mattress protector, in addition to the $500 reduction in the cost of the queen size mattress. While delivery to the front door would have been free, we opted for the platinum service at a sale price of $120, which included removal of the old mattress and base, and setup of the new adjustable base and mattress. The day before the agreed upon delivery date, a text message was sent to our cell phone identifying a 2-hour window within which we could expect delivery on the following day. On the delivery date, a text message and an email were received, within the 2-hour window, to let us know that the delivery truck was approximately 20 minutes away. The delivery staff were on time, efficient, and very careful with the removal of the old mattress and base, and the setup of the new base and mattress. Nothing negative to report.

I really had a wonderful experience working with Dave at the Schenectady Old Brick Furniture store…read more He was way more attentive, personable, and knowledgeable than the person we worked with at Raymore & Flannagan the day before. My partner didn't like the vibe of R&F so much, because it felt like we were being rushed into a used car sales pitch, that he decided to skip the trip to Old Brick the following day. In truth, Old Brick was the polar opposite experience, and Dave gave me the breathing room I needed to make an informed decision about my new mattress. Upon entering Old Brick, Dave introduced himself and told me that I could browse and test the mattresses on my own. He also said that he'd be nearby if I needed help and then checked in with me after a couple mins. He asked if I'd like to try this mattress technology thing, to which I said, "oooo -- you had me at technology", and he walked me over. I laid down on a bed with a TV facing downward as he started the program. It scanned my sleep position with these rollers under my back, then it had me lay on my side. When the scan was complete, it knew that I was a "Blue dot" semi-firm mattress sleeper. And being I usually prefer semi-firm mattresses, I was impressed. Then Dave walked me through a variety of "blue dot" mattresses and had me test them. He commented on whether he felt any particular mattress looked comfortable or not. I think I tested every blue mattress there, but with his guidance I settled on an Old Brick hybrid mattress. It borrows a number of incredible features from other mattresses such as cooling gel, a large number of springs, several layers of memory foam, etc, but for less than half the price of the major brands. It was delivered the following day, and the delivery guys took the old mattress away for me. Overall, the experience of picking a mattress out was very pleasant and informative with Old Brick. Dave guided me through the various options, explained the features in layman's terms, and I didn't feel pressured. I'm very impressed with this business and we both absolutely LOVE our new mattress!
