Found this furniture store in Albany, the owners were very friendly but I had an issue with the delivery men, which were two young individuals. Purchased the furniture May 9, was promised a delivery of May 10 with installation, which then the delivery men will be paid $20/hour which would be paid by the buyer. So Delivery date comes, my furniture gets delivered, but that was it, as the delivery men proceeded to walk out the door I stopped them and asked what about the installation, which they seemed confused about. One guy stated that he was told he didn't have to install anything and I specifically stated that it was told to me by the owners that once the items are delivered it would also be installed, which was also stated on the receipt. They didn't believe me so I called the owner on speakerphone, informed her of the situation, and she then responded that they have other deliveries to make but they will come back later in the day to install the bedroom set, The delivery men also agreed to come back, but they never came back! So the following day, i call the store as soon as they opened. Spoke to several individuals about the situation and how the delivery men never came back. Finally, Around 5 PM I was told that the delivery men will come back after 7 PM to install everything. The two individuals finally came back and installed the five piece bedroom set but I had to remind them that they had to throw out all the boxes and clean up which I guess pissed them off because they left all this garbage on the floor, gave me an attitude, and insisted that they're supposed to get paid $70 each! LOL! Had to remind the young individuals once again that it's only $20 an hour and they only been here for an hour and 10 minutes. Long story short, they only got $20 and I have to sweep all this garbage up off the floor! Never again! Lesson learned. If you're looking for a decent furniture store with professional workers, go elsewhere, oh and they left the boxes/trash in the lobby! Such losers!!!!

Adirondack sells unfinished wood furniture from a variety of manufacturers, including some regional…read morebusinesses and the vaunted Amish furniture makers stock. The workmanship varies, but in general they have what I'd call medium to medium-high quality pieces. They will sell them to you finished at premiums which vary quite a bit from piece to piece, or will give you advice about staining or painting (and will sell you the appropriate paints and stains). If you've never finished an unfinished piece, it's not that hard to get a nice result, although you'll want to start out on a cheap, small piece to get the hang of it. Pine predominates, but they have a half dozen other woods for many of the items ranging from parawood to alder to ash. There's some very nice oak pieces with good grains. The quality of the woods is what I'd call "modern" - finding good furniture wood these days is very difficult, and there are flaws in almost every piece of new wood furniture you can find, but they do reasonable quality control here. We've had a few pieces that had flaws from here, so I encourage you to look at the delivered piece before you take it off the premises - they've willingly exchanged things for us so don't be shy about that. As far as the types of things, they have: bookcases (including corner units), headboards, shelving, kitchen tables and hutches, tables, dressers, desks, and a variety of interesting smaller-run items. They don't have couch/futon frames, however. The stock does vary - they do buying trips periodically - but for the more mainstream pieces they can get virtually any size in any wood or configuration you want. You can also bargain hunt here -- they typically have a few "as is" or end-of-run items at fairly decent discounts. Wood is not cheap, relative to pressboard, but we've priced their stuff against internet-ordered, places like Huck Finn's, and equivalent finished furniture at the mainstream furniture stores, and Adirondack does quite competitively. The staff here have been helpful - primarily Brian, the guy out front most of the times we've been here, who knows his furniture and will go over both the options for something and the finishing how-to with you. Do note it's a smallish operation so you may have to wait for help. Some things I'd like: a sustainability rating on the wood (they don't have anything like this, although they can at least tell you where they bought the piece from, which is more than they can at most furniture retailers), and a delivery service (this is strictly carry-out). And, it should be noted that when they run out of stock of an item, it takes them a long time sometimes to get it back, since they do the buying directly themselves and then periodically. They do have a good-sized warehouse in the back, though. Note: this is in Niskayuna, 12309, on State just on the other side of the Colonie line and below the intersection of Balltown to the south of Mohawk Commons. The Yelp Map seems to give the wrong location because of the "Route 5" addendum. Note also the URL for the store is incorrect - google for Adirondack Wood Shed. Phone number is 518 346 2200, current hours are MWF 10-530, T Th 108 and Sat 10-5. I submitted an update to Yelp but they seem to vary quite a bit in their times to update. HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE. I took a chance on this furniture store and was thoroughly disappointed from…read morebeginning to end. Upon entering the store, I was tended to by the owner who spoke little English. After settling on a sofa I was told that the item was "surely" in stock and that it would be delivered the next day (for an extra delivery fee). I paid for the item and delivery fees in cash and left with my receipt. it was from this point forward that the experience went awry. Later that day the owner called me to tell me that the item was actually not in stock and would not be delivered for three weeks, or that I could pick out something similar. I drove back to the store and settled on another sofa for the same price, and was told he would contact me first thing the following Monday with the delivery info. Monday came and went, as did the rest of the week. Angry, I called the store Thursday evening and asked for info on my delivery, and to speak to the owner. An employee who spoke almost no English put he phone down, and proceeded to yell, presumably to someone else in the store, in a foreign language. He then told me he had no information for me but that the owner would call me back in one hour. Of course, one hour passed and no one called me back. I called them back again, got the same employee from the first call, and was told that the owner had left for the day. When I pressed him as to why the owner didn't call before he left for the day, the employee, obviously caught off guard at my follow-up question, said that the owner had in fact NEVER come in that day and that I "might be able to catch him around noon the next day." At this point I was beginning to lose any patience that I had left. The next day, Friday of that week, I decided to stop by in person at the time the owner was supposed to be in the store. I arrived to an empty store, and had to scream out "is anyone here!?" before an unkempt, non-hygienic employee who also spoke almost no English, emerged from a back room. I asked for the owner and was told he has not come in today and he has no idea when he will be back, making little effort to find the owner's whereabouts. At this point I lost my cool and whipped my receipt out and decided to call off the deal and get my money back. Well, this is where the truly disturbing part begins. The unkempt employee told me that he could not do refunds and that "we are a little store, do not keep money on hand for refunds, and can't possibly give me one." He also said there was no way to find out the status of my order and to come back another time. Well that was it for me. I informed him that this is now a legal matter and I threatened to call Albany Police in front of him. I also told him I would be filling a lawsuit that day. I told him sternly that it is in his best interst to have the owner call me as soon as he gets in, and I stormed out of the store. Well clearly my legal retaliation worked, because twenty minutes later the owner called me to apologize, and to say that my order would be delivered the next day, FULLY ASSEMBLED. It was obvious to me that this business normally tries to scam their customers first, and if threatened with lawsuits, only then will they follow through with the order and their hollow promises. The day of delivery they were an HOUR later than the estimate, and came in a broken-down, unmarked van, spraypainted with offensive graffiti. Two imposing men emerged and I was hesitant to even let them in. However I did, and to my utter disgust they delivered the order completely UNASSEMBLED. They told me they had other deliveries to make and had no time to assemble it for me, and that I was on my own. One of the delivery guys quipped that I "look like a smart guy and can follow directions and assemble it myself." I demanded my extra delivery fee back, and was told to take it up with the owner. I was so sick of the whole set of events that I didn't even bother calling him, I couldn't stomach another argument with the lowlife. I ordered the two men out of my building. It took me three hours to assemble the thing. The Bottom Line: don't even consider walking into this store because you will deal with nothing but unprofessionalism and borderline criminal behavior from start to finish. There was no understanding from both the owner or his employees of how to treat a customer, how to run a proper business entity, or how to deliver on promises. To add insult to injury, the quality of the product you see in the store showroom is superior to the actual product they deliver, and it never comes assembled. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

We have a Murphy bed bought around 10 years ago which daughter has used in "open" position throughout; it seems rock-solid, and we've enjoyed the built-in touch lighting. Only downside: this style of bed limits mattress thickness, so we haven't been able to provide daughter the thick cushiness she'd have preferred. The showroom is a favorite landmark on the route between Albany and Bennington, with its whimsical display of vivid-hued Adirondack-style chairs and giant furniture.

I live in an older house, so when they were coming to deliver the bed that I had purchased it did not fit where I wanted it to fit so I needed to change the style of the entire purchase that I had made. We were greeted promptly and efficiently with a gentleman by the name of Brian. Brian was very friendly and knew exactly what I needed from the moment. I walked in the door and explain to him what was going on because I have a crushed spine. He walk us through the whole process and was very funny and took the time to let us try all the mattresses we wanted to try, and did not feel like we were being rushed at all. He gave us his cell phone number after the service was done in case we needed anything after the sale was complete to help with, which was very much appreciated because it ended up being Needed later on. The delivery of the platform and mattress was a little different because I was kind of skeptical about the whole process because I knew the size of my stairwell that it needed to go up and sure enough what we had purchased did not fit so we had to wait and Get a new platform in new bed than what we originally purchased, but Brian was with us the whole time walking us through the process and helping us out. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and because of the fact that he did what he did I would continue to return back to this location, I recommend that if you are in search of a bed that you check this place out it is definitely worth your while and by the way it's been the best night sleep I've ever had in my life I wake up refreshed and my wife is saying that I don't snore anymore lol I didn't think I snored.
