Best shave ice on the island! I literally had a shave ice date with my boyfriend, one sunny Sunday afternoon in Hilo. I live on Oahu, I just got off of a 16 hour shift, hopped on a plane, flew into Hilo and spent the day with my boyfriend and flew back on the evening flight. So what do you do in Hilo when you only have a few hours to spend? Besides enjoying the waters, you eat! My buddy highly recommended this place. I told him that I was trying to watch what I eat. He said, "brah! its "organic"", so I gave in. I'm sooooooooo glad I had their shave ice! PARKING: There's lots of street parking fronting. SERVICE: Ohhhh these ladies are as sweet as their shave ice! They greeted us at the window, took our order, handed us a keychain with our order number and called our number when it was ready! Service with a beautiful smile! SHAVE ICE: So we got the "Kula Rainbow" and added condensed milk on top of it. We chose to share because we had just eaten a big lunch at Hawaiian Style Cafe. Besides, we were on a shave ice date.... its cuter if we shared. Their ice is shaved and soft like eating snow. Well, not freshly fallen snow but it had the perfect texture. Their syrups are all made from scratch and they taste really good. The strawberry syrup had REAL strawberries in them! I'm not a really big fan on sugary sweet things but their syrups were very tasty!!! That whole combo with the vanilla ice cream in the middle was the perfect treat to end our perfect day. This is sour sop and Lilikoi with a haupia cream topping. This is so amazing together. The sour and sweetness blends perfectly. The ice itself is soft and and so smooth. Not rough and icy like your typical snow cones. It was a hot day and it somehow I didn't have to race to eat it. This is a definite MUST TRY! Located right across the street from the farmers market. Yes the prices are quite high, but I fear the shave ice is worth every cent. The ice is shaved so finely that it literally melts in your mouth and there's absolutely no crunching. The syrups are the real deal---it tastes like eating the REAL fruit, no artificial sweetener/ flavoring/ colors, and it penetrates through all the ice so there are no bare patches in the middle. Finally, the vanilla ice cream is unironically the best I've ever had in my life. The smooth, rich, decadent ice cream (you can see the specks of real vanilla) balances out and complements the naturally tart and acidic fruit syrup so well. I would order the ice cream alone too. I had to get shave ice at some point during my trip and this was the place I chose. Happy with it! Order at the register and then wait. Fast and friendly service. There are a few benches covered by shade, but other than that, you're on your own. There was a farmer's market next door when I went on a Saturday in April 2021, so I ate and drank while I walked through the market. I went with the lilikoi dreamsicle, which is flavored shave ice with a snow cap (sweet condensed milk) on top and some vanilla ice cream underneath. It was great and was also a huge serving, which I always appreciate! Cost me $10 before tax and tip, but was also one of the more premium offerings. This is probably one of the best shaved ice spots in the big island. I found this place after yelping for a spot to get shaved ice after a hike in Hilo. Street parking only and it's located at the Hilo farmers market. There are a good amount of tables outside for your use. There was a line when we got there but it moved fast. My husband and I decided to share the big island love. When we finally got our order, we consumed the whole thing in less than 15 minutes. The coconut condensed milk enhanced the flavor of the coconut and lime shaved ice. The fresh pineapple gave it texture but I wished they gave us more pineapple (it would have made the shaved ice even tastier). The ice was above average in terms of smoothness (you really can't beat ululani's). The cane syrup is the best I've had out of all the shaved ice places I've tried. If you happen to be in Hilo, make sure you stop by and try out their shaved ice. I see they also have drinks and açaí bowl which looks just as delicious as their shaved ice. read more

I also ordered their matcha latte... if you're thinking of ordering it maybe pass. Hands down, one of the best shave ice places in Hawaii. I asked the gals at the window which was their favorite and they immediately pointed me here. Without hesitation I ordered it and added the poi and mochi topper. SO. REFRESHING. They use real organic fruits for their syrups and you don't get that overly sugary taste. Instead, you get the beautiful flavors of Hawaii in a refreshing bowl. The poi was a great add because the sourness and density added such a wonderful texture and flavor explosion. Shaved ice was apparently more popular than ice cream so not surprisingly they only offered three different flavors: vanilla, chocolate and mac nut. $4 for 4 small scoops which was actually a huge portion. The chocolate was so rich and dense and mac nut was full of nuts. Probably the best value you could find on the island. The shop was located right next to Hilo farmer's market so it's hard to miss.
