Moved to Lynden recently. I have an older small dog so I wanted to become established with a vet early on. I chose Kulshan and I am so happy! Had an appointment just to become established. From the minute I called to make the appointment, they treated me like family. Very kind and patient. Dr. Durfee and Presley were so good with my little guy. They were gentle and took time to get to know me and my dog. They explained everything thoroughly and my little Bentley was really chill the whole time. About a month later brought Bentley for a nail trim. They did an amazing job and filed his nails so smooth. This week Bentley wasn't feeling well. I could tell. He had a cough and tummy troubles. Called the office and they fit us in right away. So friendly and kind, no pressure to purchase anything, made recommendations about current care and what may help once his tummy troubles clear. We have a plan to keep an eye on his heart condition two he can live as long as possible. I would clone him if I could. The entire team at Kulshan is amazing and I keep saying amazing because they are! If you're looking for any vet services, i truly and highly recommend them!!! read more

The first vet we saw was amazing. The second vet not so much. The third time, the tech was rude and took my card to run payment before the appt was even halfway over. We were rushed out. During this visit I let the tech know we would be out of town for the holidays when the last set of vaccinations were due and she stated, that's okay there is a 2 week grace period so as long as you get them in before 2 weeks they should be fine. I scheduled a time within the two week period and they told me I would have to start the vaccines all over again. This was a litter vaccine schedule so they would be charging a lot once again to re-vaccinate all of the puppies. If they were not so rude maybe I would think about it, but the staff has not been pleasant so many times. It's so unfortunate because the first appt with Dr. Erickson and his tech was absolutely amazing!!! read more

I was so impressed with the staff and service at Kulshan. Our dog was having some digestive problems that worried us, and when we were not able to get in our regular vet, we called Kulshan and got an appointment the same day within a few hours of calling. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the doctor and her assistant were very thorough and took their time. They were very reassuring and provided helpful explanations for what was going on with our dog. When after a few days our dog wasn't improving, I called the vet (on a Saturday- big bonus that they're open on Saturdays!) and was able to speak with a doctor directly about our dog's persisting symptoms and he prescribed an additional medication for our dog. I was able to ask all the questions I had over the phone and felt understood and heard. I made another trip to the vet to pick up medication and the front desk staff helped me choose a sensitive stomach canned dog food to temporarily put our dog on. On Monday we received a call from Kulshan just checking in on our dog to see how things were going, and we really appreciated that. In the past, we've been to vets who seemed to rush through the exam and felt uneasy after we left because we didn't feel they listened to us. I am so glad we decided to visit this vet - we're going to be switching to Kulshan as our primary vet because of how impressed we were with the experience we had! read more

Very incompetant doctor. Couldnt identify my rescue iguana. Insulted my husbandry practices. disappeared woth my animal for fifteen minutes to 'weigh' it and never actually told me the weight. Animal was in perfect health. they shouldnt work with animals they are unfamiliar with. thats the bottom line. get continuing education if you want to work with exotics you dont know. read more

We were very impressed with the staff and service we received today. Dr Macrath was very thorough, and went over his exam of our dog who has been showing some pain when getting up. He took the time to contact our vet in Arizona, get the x rays and go over them before we arrived. We now have a diagnosis and a treatment plan in place. The staff was friendly and welcoming also. The price was extremely reasonable and we have already arranged to have our dog boarded there when we attend a wedding next month. We strongly recommend Kulshan Veterinary and Dr Macrath! read more

Good doctors but absolutely not a care in the world about you or your pets. I rerouted a trip to go back home and drove 1200 miles in 24 hours to get back home for my dog to see his vet after an injury. They refused to accept him in 15 minutes late even though they are always 15-20 minutes late taking him in for normal visits. I'd recommend going to a place that actually cares about your animals and their situation. read more

Front end staff was great, office is clean. They love their animals for sure. Vet tech was kind and loved my dog and was friendly. But holy cow does the Vet push the food brand paying them to push their food, Science Diet. The Vet went as far as to tell me I shouldn't be feeding my dog raw food because it could cause serious injury and illness to my young children. Really? So I should avoid steaks and hamburgers in my house too, become vegan? Extra underlining of no raw food and huge circles around Science Diet dog food was on a paper they gave me when I left. The vet obviously was trained by a fully funded Science Diet curriculum in school and not educated in the benefits of natural raw dog food that undergoes more testing that human food. And to say that I shouldn't use it because it would cause harm to my children especially if they are immune compromised, give me a break. Maybe I misunderstood her from the muffled talk behind her mask. Oh and my dog, who has been on a raw food diet his whole life, perfectly healthy all around. Did not appreciate they're push to sell dog food for Science Diet and Royal Canine by fear. Obvious by the office walls covered in Science Diet food they are paid to sell their product, by every means possible, including fear of killing your children by feeding raw food. read more

If you live in the Lynden area you don't have too many choices of places to take your pet. We brought our cat here when we first got her and she was taken good care of. We brought our dog here when we got her and the same thing. We have come in with a sick pet before and it seems they are always looking (and quick to add to the bill) to upsell on products on the shelf. Be sure you need them! I trusted my dog at Kulshan vet for a couple years, but not anymore. What encouraged me to stop bringing my pet to Kulshan was when he was stung by a bee. He began to swell and have itchy red hives all over his body and had a very hard time breathing. Kulshan brought him back within 3 minutes and said he had an already existent "skin condition" and that it was nothing to be worried about. I knew he was stung by a bee and going into anaphalytic shock; I rushed him immediately to Emergency Care because I knew Kulshan was minimizing my dogs health issue. He was given an epinephrine shot immediately and told that he had a severe allergic reaction. I will never go back to Kulshan because I do not trust that they care deeply about every animals emergency. read more

They did not try selling unnecessary procedures or meds, although we explored possibilities and I was able to make a well-educated choice about a treatment plan. I absolutely love kulshan vet ! Vet Erin west does an amazing job with both of my hedgehogs and they handle them with love and care and leave so happy! Brought my girl in for an ear infection and they are open and thorough with telling you whats going on and honest and quick with giving me a qoute for a reasonable price. We have had a few experiences with Kulshan in Lynden and cannot say enough about their care of our 3 pets, 2 chihuahuas (14 yrs) and a German Shepherd (1 yr). Their pricing is very fair and reasonable based on what other clinics charge, I never feel they are just adding on extras without a full explanation with the cost given first. We recently had to suddenly say goodbye to one of our chihuahuas who had congestive heart failure and was passing out from lack of oxygen. Dr. Stirling was truly amazing in his handling of the diagnosis, his recommendations throughout the whole time we were at the clinic during Covid times, he came out 3 or 4 times to talk with us, we never felt rushed, he answered so many questions we had, he showed us x-rays outside with a full explanation, talked about the pros and cons and what we could do (ie: take her to animal emerg for oxygen incubation as they don't have that particular equipment there for overnight care) what was causing our girl to be losing oxygen, along with a collapsed trachea which was previously diagnosed by another vet who recommended prednisone that ultimately may be what brought on the heart issue. Dr Stirling was very thorough and ultimately we made the decision to let our girl go, saying goodbye to Bella in our arms, out back in the fresh air. The staff and Dr. Stirling were so kind and caring during this difficult time. To top it off, the lovely follow up gift of our girls footprint and a beautiful handmade card signed by all the staff with their comments was just so welcome when we opened it. This will be the forever Veterinary caregivers of our pets. Thank you so much! read more

Horrible/Life Scarring Experience Went to get my Kittens vacanations and came seconds away from him being wrongfully euthanized. I was told they mixed up my cat with another and didnt check at all throughout the entire process to make sure they were KILLING THE RIGHT CAT. Luckily at the last second i realized what they were doing and that they werent simply giving him a vaccanation. Honestly was the scariest moment in my life and we will NEVER be returning to this atrocity. I advise any loving pet owner to stay AWAY from thsi "Veterinary Hospital" because a simple checkup can turn into an execution. read more

I brought my sick guinea pig here and though they say they treat all animals the vet was not qualified to treat my pig. After he sedated her and trimmed down her front teeth she did not improve. I followed up and they referred me to the bird and exotic animal clinic in Bothel, WA. The vet at the exotic clinic informed me that all of my pigs teeth were extremely overgrown, including the two the first vet at Kulshan trimmed. My poor pig suffered for so much longer than she should have. Do not take your small animals here. read more

We actually love Kulshan and wouldn't take our pets to any other vet. We have a number of dogs that they take care of. In the last year they have helped us say good-bye to a few of them. BUT.... while Drs Erickson, McGraff and Stanfield have all done great jobs at euthanasia with our dogs, Dr Jordon however needs retraining or maybe just stick with cats. She is a nice person but be sure to keep your dogs away from her. Our dog was suffering enough and was there to end his suffering but she had difficulty getting the euthanasia drug into our dog and he began suffering as he tried desperately to breath his last breath. It was heart breaking to watch. It was an emergency for us so we had little choice as to which Dr could help end his pain but this is not the first time we (and others we have spoken with) have had to deal with her. Again, we have heard she is great with cats but she should be kept away from your dog. read more

I go out of my way to take my Black Russian Terriers (large rare breed) to them. Dr. Stanfield is the best vet I have ever had. Prices and billing are absolutely reasonable and consistent. Only place that I've gone that I didn't feel over billed. read more

No surprise the rating here. More concerned about money. Took my dog back for a follow up urine check for a UTI. Made it clear that was the only thing I wanted done. She was finishing antibiotic and needed no other treatment. Vet tech tried to start an exam and we never left the waiting room making it clear that I just wanted the urine recheck. Happy to pay for that. At billing charged for exam plus the urine collection and analysis. I am sure that an exam was never done nor necessary and when I complained Dr. Just made excuses. Go here take lots of cash. That's their goal as far as I am concerned. I m going to dispute the exam fee with credit card company. They can't just perform services you refused. Insist on written quote is my advice and question necessity. read more

I've had good experiences with the large animal Vets in this practice, but when I took my dog and cat to a small animal Vet at Kulshan they were horrible! They did all the work in the back room and I could hear my cat screaming while they held him down, the Vet and assistants couldn't finish his exam or even take his temperature and then they charged me an "aggressive animal handling fee". He's been to my wonderful Vet (unfortunately we moved or I never would have changed) half a dozen times and has never had to be taken out of the room or had any sort of a problem like this. He has always been able to be examined fully with me there. I later found one of his claws and clumps of hair in his crate that had been pulled out when they had him in the back. My dog has also always behaved himself at the Vet but they were not patient at all and immediately took him in the back and muzzled him. They seemed much more concerned with doing everything as quickly and easily as possible rather than making the animals comfortable, I'm dreading having to take either to any Vet again after the experience they had at Kulshan. read more
