Yeah, the owner isn't going to kiss your ass, but he was nice enough to us because we weren't obnoxious or drunk or messy. I bought a Young Ones t-shirt, which I didn't even know they made, and we had a good conversation about it. Yeah, the prices were a little high, but I saw stuff there I've never seen before. Shirts that were long out of print or not really sold elsewhere. They even had Mr. Bungle shirts. Tons of accessories, too. I wish I lived nearby so I could go more often, since they don't seem to have a website. It's definitely on my list the next time I'm in NOLA. A lot of people are saying the store reminded them of Hot Topic from back in the day, but imho Hot Topic was never this good. It's the kind of store Hot Topic wishes it could be. read more

The store was great, a lot of good products, pricing was what you would expect, not overpriced for the items. Unfortunately, he was pretty rude and wouldn't let my partner try on a crop top because "men destroy the merchandise when they try on women's clothes." My boyfriend is very small, and can fit into me and my mothers clothing (women's s-xs) and the crop top was quite large but he was adamant that since it was a women's shirt it would not fit. We are both alternative, and when we walk into an alternative store we didn't expect for masculine people to not be allowed to try the women's clothing. He also said something to me about how the shorts I was buying were for men. Seemed weirdly conservative on who bought what clothes. Mildly disappointing. read more

Don't waste your time coming here, every review about the owner being a condescending jerk is true and then some. Took my brother to the store and him being a younger kid he was excited and took his time looking around and I guess the 'owner' didn't want business that day because he said under his breath several times 'can you please get the ____ out'. He also answers questions with a rhetorical idiotic response such as 'you should have gone to a concert' to an obviously younger teenage kid about a band who hasn't played a live concert in decades ? The last straw was his beat up raggedy sticker book that he insisted we flip through page by page as to not ruin the pages, just to flip through the book himself, aggressively rip out a page and blame it on my brother. When I asked if he was the owner and he said yes I told him he was extremely rude and unwelcoming and he immediately called me a fata** multiple times and told me to leave, as I was walking out. Needless to say someone is bitter that the only rock and roll dream they got to live out is selling used tshirts and merch and wants to ruin the experience for everyone else. Roadkill is up the street, with similar merchandise, way better vibes and workers who actually engage with you and are happy you're there. read more

Person working incredibly rude, condescending, and questionable responses to inquiries about merch. Bullying paying customers about merch and bands is bad enough, pulling information out of seemingly nowhere to justify condescension is the cherry on top of a bad experience - clearly I was underestimated in my knowledge of bands. I was nice and respectful anyway because I know the most insecure can be the most vile... plus, I don't feel the need to put others down and spread possible misinformation to make myself feel better. However, I would caution against visiting this store unless you have the bandwidth to deal with disrespect, and the critical thinking to question details of items. I have never been treated so rudely, as I was in this store. All I did was cross the threshold with a polar pop, that had a lid on it.I was told, in a catty and shrill voice," You can't come here in with drinks! This isn't Wal-Mart ya know?!?!?!" I understand the no beverage thing. They probably have had several drunken tourists come through there and spill things. Why the cattiness/meanness? It was totally uncalled for. For the record, all I had in my polar pop was diet coke (no liquor whatsoever) and I hadn't been drinking. This happened on a Wednesday afternoon at 1:30. I was just a local (at the time, lived in NOLA for 13 years)out for a pleasant day of French Quarter shopping to find a birthday present for my sister. WOW! Kulture Vulture in the French Quarter is a must go-to store while visiting NOLA. They have tons tons tons of band shirts, and you won't be disappointed at all...very phenomenal collection!!! There are tons of other merch and accessories like patches and pins too so your wallet is going to hurt but well worth it. I lived in Los Angeles and San Francisco and Kulture Vulture reminds me of the old school stores on Haight Street, Melrose Avenue and Hollywood Blvd. This place has a wicked cool music vibe for all music fans of punk, goth, heavy metal and other music genre. The store boasts being a must for music fans, but it's just a bunch of t-shirts and wallets. *Poser....cough cough....* This place is a French quarter older school version of Hot Topic. If anyone tried to tells you other wise, well they are just...well lets leave it at that. There is a shirt that is a take on the subway logo that says "Zombies, Eat Brains"---hilarious.... There is a myriad of cool band shirts, pins, patches and such. In addition they have the usual hipster goth stuff to keep you stocked in studded belts and leather bracelets with snaps and studs. You know the kind of stuff that illustrates just how 'deep and emotional' you really are. Now look im a child of the 80's and 90's so I know these bands, grew up listening to them, and I have their music in my Ipod, so I know about the anger and angst of the spolied self indulgent generation that propelled these bands to stardom. So one star for not leaving the big boys of rock out in the cold. I probably wouldnt be so tough on them, but the guy in there was the biggest jerk. He was so rude. Apprently my white tennis shoes were an affront to Emo mankind. I guess I must look like I've never truly had problems or something. He tries really hard for his look though. This place has everything! I was picking up a T Shirt for a costume party. I went as a 70's punk rocker but wanted something I could wear after the party. A Cramps shirt worked perfectly. While there I got a Rush Moving Pictures shirt for me and an Iron Maiden shirt for a friend. I will definitely be back. read more

RE: service--I can confirm that one of the guys who runs the store is quite antisocial and very disenchanted with the state of affairs. He mutters rudely under his breath, swearing needlessly at customers who don't buy anything. He also scoffed at my question -- "what a weird question!" -- when I asked him where they got their goods. FYI, their stuff is fully licensed, which I'd believe since they have hard to find things there. Anyway, I ended up buying 3 shirts from this store despite the less than courteous service. They retailed for about $25-30 each which is fine and what I would've paid for on eBay anyway. At concerts, t-shirts retail for $40-$45. They have a wide range of merch and a vintage rack. I doubt I'll be back in NOLA for a while, so I don't think I'll be back. Maybe if someone else worked the front desk. read more

This place is great, the store is awesome looking and the shirts are all well organized by band and genre. I'm not sure why this place has so many people complaining about the owner. It's shop that sells PUNK and METAL merchandise, it's not an old navy, the guy isn't supposed to be super fake nice and ask you about your precious day. Sure he has a sign that says leave drinks at the counter, if you knew the area you'd understand. He should have a sign that says no entitled yelpers allowed. I went in there and bought a shirt that was too small because I'm an idiot and the next day he immediately exchanged sizes for me no problem at all and he couldn't have been nicer. This place is great! I walked by a couple years ago when I was in town but didn't have time to stop in. I have never seen such an extensive collection of band tees. I was floored when I found a Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds shirt. I also found a really cool Pantera shirt and a burlesque cat club shirt. The guy working pretty much left my friends and I alone, which was fantastic. I hate obnoxiously fake customer service. I don't want someone to suck up to me and follow me around the store. I want to be left alone so I can shop. My friend was making fun of me because I didn't recognize a very famous Def Leppard album cover...hey I've never really listened to them...the guy working chimed in a bit with my friend, which I found quite entertaining. I love this place for a lot of reasons. I wandered in about 5 years ago, and have been coming in ever since. There is at least an hour worth of stuff to look at and try on. It's also a locally owned/operated business, which is very important to me. Men: Belt buckles, vintage rock shirts, new music-oriented shirts, jewelery, band pins, accessories. Women: fantastic dresses in many fun styles, hair accessories, purses, scarves, music tank tops/shirts, lucky 13 gear, and some really badass shirts from independent designers. I like the sign on the door noting that their hours. Classic New Orleans. Be careful in here, it's so full of awesome that you might be inside for awhile trying stuff on. read more

This is an absolutely adorable store. They have great NOLA shirts, and some super adorable baby clothes with character. I got my niece a onesie that said "i get my looks from daddy" with Frankenstein for Halloween. totally adorable. Unfortunately, their return policy is none. They only allow exchange with tag on within the 2 weeks for the same item. Here's the thing--if you walk into the store and you're 1. Drunk, 2. A frat boy/sorority girl/bachelor party/bachelorette party idiot, 3. Disrespectful and holding drinks you can spill on clothes/merch--then YES, the owner is probably going to be crusty/talk under his breath about you and your obnoxious behavior. If you are seriously looking to shop for amazing metal/punk/new wave/goth/industrial stuff then this is THE store to go to. I bought the sweetest Bowie shirt in the universe and an awesome Motley Crue Shout at the Devil tank top last time I was there (among other things). I've walked past this shop for years before stopping in to check it out. Let me just say if you are a music fan, this is the place to check out! Real good selection of stuff to check out. I was able to find a few shirts that I never expected to find. The longer I looked around, the more cool stuff I found it seems. I made some small talk with the owner over shirts that I picked out and found the guy to be very knowledgable about the music world, which is a BIG help when trying to find things. I kinda stay away from other shops like this because I don't want to deal with your standard hipster clone, but this was far from that kinda shop!! All in all, I will continue to frequent this store. I stumbled upon this shop on my 2nd day during my first trip to NOLA. It lured me in with its sea of black clothes with great music playing. Everything is perfectly organized (by genre!) even though it is wall to wall! I could have spent all day and all my money in there..well, hell, I did go back a second time for more loot. The guy running the place is cool and he knows his stuff! And when I contacted him about slightly defective bracelet, he remedied the situation ASAP! This place is a super cool throwback to 'headshops' of yesterdays. You want 70's Glamrock t-shirts? Done! Industrial/Goth gear? They have it and in all sizes! Vintage concert tees? A whole rack dedicated to just that! They also have jeans, buttons, belt buckles etc. One cool side note; ALL of the rock musicians that plays NOLA, stop/shop here.
