It was delicious. I ordered the maki combo and it hit different. We were seated almost instantaneously on a Sunday after church. Every seat was taken after about 30 minutes. I tried th hibachi meal thing. The steak was a little chewy, but tasted delicious. I also tried to crazy tuna roll, and tiger roll. Both were delicious (watch out for wasabi on the tiger roll). Located in a strip mall, Kumo Asian Garden is a nice lunch spot at affordable prices. Can get 5 piece nigiri sushi appetizer for about $6, and hibachi chicken/terriyaki for a bit less than $10. Will come here frequently for lunch as it is about five minutes from my job site. Rice dishes are flavorful. Chicken and beef are cut into nice chunks and sautéed with a good sauce. Vegetables include broccoli, onions, zucchini - plentiful and flavorful and what you would expect from a hibachi dish. Sushi is decent, nothing spectacular, but can't say anything bad about. The food was flavorless and poorly plated. We ordered two plates. Chicken teriyaki and shrimp teriyaki. Both proteins were overcooked and had no flavor. Such a delightful place with delicious food expertly prepared. The Bento Box luncheon special was simply wonderful and very adequate in its size and proportion. I ordered the lomein to go with my shrimp and vegetables and it was amazing! The miso soup was perfection! The sushi was spectacular and so much better than the kind you get on the all you can eat buffet bars. Not impressive, not disgusting. We tried a few different sushi rolls, got them to-go. The quality of the ingredients was very poor, and the construction of the roll was upsetting. Some of the rolls we got (the romantic was one of them, I don't remember the other one) could have been great if the ingredients were a bit more fresh. Call ahead order for pick up: This review is for a call ahead and pick up after I got off work during my lunch hour. I decided to go home for lunch, then come back. They were fast and nice in getting together my order. When I got there, I had to wait a couple minutes for them to get it together which I can understand because I ordered it while driving here from across the street. I got the chicken and rice special for lunch. It was great too. When I got home, I had sweet tea with it. As a matter of fact, I might just go here again today after work. I have tried this restaurant many times and it just keeps getting worse. Last time, one of the rolls were made incorrectly, and I thought "I'll try it again but get something different". This time I ordered the spicy crab, summer, and eel/avocado rolls. The spicy crab was ok, not bad but not the best. The summer roll, however, tasted so sicky-sweet that it tasted rotten. I tried to take off the mango but it didn't help. As for the eel roll, the sauce on top was more like barbecue sauce than anything else. I don't recommend this place ever. 0/10 read more

The owners are the rudest restaurant owners I have ever encountered and their food sucked! Kumo has by far the best Japanese food in town. The sushi is miles above Tako Yaki, but probably okay compared to the best sushi I've ever had on the east coast or in NYC. I was not expecting to find good sushi/Japanese food while visiting Cleveland, but I was in for a surprise! The food here was excellent. My husband even made the comment that he liked it better than some of the more seemingly authentic places we have been to while living in CA. My brother and I split the Phoenix roll, and it was delicious! It was the perfect size to split. Only thing is when my entree came, I was almost too full from the sushi roll. I got the veggie bento box. What I loved is that it came with hibachi vegetables (and the yummy sauce!) four pieces of a California roll and a miso soup and rice. It was excellent! The service was good and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I'll look forward to returning on my next trip to TN. If you're local, they run a lot of coupons in the paper/mail. Now have been here three times. I am happy to report that the lukewarm miso was a fluke on the first time. It has been hot since. Went again this weekend. Again looking at vegan options, we went with the tofu bento and a side of the vegetables, as well as a separate order of avocado rolls. I asked for them to replace the California Rolls with Avocado Rolls in the bento. The bento comes with the crispy vegetable rolls and some sweet sauce. Very good. The salad was good, the only negative was it drowned in the ginger sauce. Needed a little more finesse in pouring the dressing on! The tofu was some of the best I have ever had, and the vegetables have a wonderful taste. The other small negative was the gohan rice was a little less moist and soft from what I expect, both on the bento plate and in the rolls. We shared a large house hot sake and it was very good. Service was as usual excellent. I think this place deserves far more business. It is a good value! read more

Been here a couple of times. When you first enter there is a horrible smell; today worse than ever. If we hadn't eaten there before we would have left for sure. Sushi is always pretty good and habachi is good as well usually. Today we also get a seaweed salad and it was uneatable; it literally tasted like a fish died in it. We've had seaweed salad before so it isn't like it was just not an acquired taste. The fried rice today also tasted very fishy. Not sure we will go back. I ate here once and was fairly pleased with it. I did inflate the rating a bit because Cleveland TN isn't exactly a culinary oasis. To be fair though, the only other place with sushi I've been to in Cleveland is the big buffet place and for quality sushi Kumo Asian Garden blows that place away. The sushi hit the mark, and if you were to look at my reviews, I've been to dozens of sushi restaurants elsewhere. I went with the standard dinner platter. The high mark was the significance of the fish; some places will skimp here and just provide a sliver of fish atop the rice. However, this place allocated an ample portion to attain a satisfying experience for those who enjoy the fish. One feature often overlooked is the rice, however again this place satisfies with a moist but not gooey or mushy consistency, and a nicely seasoned flavor. Combined with the quality, fresh fish the sushi overall was well executed. A maki roll came with the platter. I am not particularly fond of spicy rolls, but it was the only choice and it was decent. I just don't really care for mayo being mixed up with fish, but I think it would satisfy someone who likes spicy rolls. The soup and salad were pretty pathetic but that's true of most sushi restaurants who mostly just provide those as garnishes and not really serious items. The wasabi was pretty low-end but fairly typical, it just wasn't given much thought in my estimation. The soy sauce wasn't any good - they probably just fill the dispensers with something they buy in bulk, but if the label is to be believed, it has preservatives and isn't brewed. These are sort of side points though, the things that matter most, they got right and the places they skimped are very typical. The restaurant itself was fairly comfortable. Probably not somewhere you'd go to impress, but totally serviceable. Service was efficient and unobtrusive. The sushi platter came to about $20 including tip, so it's a little pricey to do often but not crazy expensive. read more
