So happy I listened to a recommendation to try the sushi at Kumo!!! We have been looking for a closer "go-to" sushi place and I think we have found it. It was so easy to order our rolls online and it didn't take too long for my husband to go pick it up. Normally my husband and I pick our own rolls because we tend to like different things. But he let me pick all 5 rolls for us to share this time! I selected the Crispy roll, the New roll, the Tennessee roll, the Fire Island roll, and the Dynamite roll. I'm sure he was secretly hoping that I would find one or 2 of them too spicy and he would get to devour the entire roll. That was not the case. All of the rolls were super flavorful and delicious. While some of them did have a little more spice than others, it was nothing I couldn't handle. We both loved the Dynamite roll the most! We stopped in to this spot on a whim. It was not crowded at all. The food was decent. I was not a fan of their Miso soup--it had a stale taste. The service was pretty good. The clear soup and the sushi is solid. We went here and ordered the Kumo Hibachi special for two. It's a huge plate of veggies, two sides of rice and then proteins in all the corners of the plate. The steak and scallops were cooked well and tasted decent. The shrimp and lobster tail was completely overcooked and rubbery so I would avoid those. The fried rice was just okay - much better with soy sauce and yum yum sauce added. The rice doesnt stand well on its own. I also had the edamame (standard edamame) and steamed gyoza (just okay). This is a good local place in the Sandy Plains area. Good for quick takeout or when you don't feel like waiting a long time for a table. You get right in and the service is good. Finally a Hibachi Restaurant whose food taste like quality Hibachi. I found Kumo on Yelp and based on the reviews decided to give it a try. I ordered my food to go, they have a option of ordering online but my order would not go through so I ended up calling the order in. The Lady who answered the phone was very friendly and repeated everything back to me to ensure the order was correct. The restaurant is located in a small shopping center and unless you are coming from a certain direction you will have to turn into the side of the shopping center and drive around till you get to the front. The inside of the restaurant is quaint and chic. If you are looking to impress a date I would take them here. There are several hibachi options to choice from on the menu including Salmon, Scallops, Lobster, chicken, steak, and you can get it in combinations as well. They offer Teriyaki, sushi and several other options. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food. The staff was amicable and greeted me when I walked in to pick up my food. I ordered the shrimp hibachi which came with miso soup and a salad with ginger dressing. The ginger dressing was made just right not too sweet I enjoyed it. The veggies and shrimp were grilled just right, and for an extra $2 I substituted fried rice for the white rice that comes with the meal. This Hibachi is the best I have had in the Atlanta area to date. I also ordered the Japanese Spring rolls which were very tasty. If you are looking for a good Hibachi restaurant or just a nice relaxing place to eat, Kumo is worth giving a try. read more

Last year I began my eating at more Asian restaurants and fell in love hibachi and sushi. With the names hibachi and sushi in the name of the restaurant, hoe could this place not be good? My chicken and shrimp hibachi was excellent yay prepared and to my surprise was made with large size shrimp. Our chicken dumplings were delicious and we couldn't help but order more and our sushi dish came with tuna and salmon. All were equally great. We were gallivanting around Marietta and believe it (or not) it's quite hard to find sushi in this area lol. But, even with the lack of sushi this place was pretty good. Like many sushi places in Atlanta, most have rolls with funny names either after people, or places. Kumo is no different, most of their rolls are named after superheros or have some sort of Hollywood reference. Their decor is nice and seems like lounge in Buckhead, dimly lit, neon lights, and TVs lining the walls. The service was fast. My fiance saw a picture of the sushi boat and wanted our sushi on a boat. The lady said if we ordered x amount of rolls she can ask the chef to put it on a boat. That was nice. Overall...it's decent. This place has been literally within walking distance of my house for years, but I just never bothered to check it out until today. The plaza can be a little hard to get into, and the parking lot a little small, but not too bad of a spot. Service: my sister and I came in for a quick dinner since she was craving sushi. When we came in it took the servers a few moments of talking amongst themselves before one approached and asked how many was in our party. We were seated quickly as there were many open tables available. We told the drinks to one server, but then a few minutes later the other server came and told us she would be getting our drinks and asked again. Just seemed like disorganized at first, but they both got the hang of it. Ours servers were very minimal when it came to talking, but in a way I appreciate that since I don't like the servers hovering too long around. Food: ordered the appetizer of fried oysters and calamari. There wasn't too much calamari on the plate, but the squid tasted fresh and was delicious. The oysters were a lot smaller than anticipated and came with spicy mayo drizzled on top. I personally didn't care too much for the fried oysters, but my sister liked it. For the sushi we ordered the Love Boat for 2. The rolls are all chef choice so we didn't really know what we were going to get. Came served on a large sushi boat that was decorated beautifully. The fish was fresh and the chefs were very generous with their cuts. I especially loved the large yellowtail sashimi pieces. The rolls were nothing too fancy, it was a simple salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, and salmon/tuna roll. I think for the price of the sushi boat we got, it was a fair price. The sushi didn't amaze me too much. 2/5- I can't say this is my absolute favorite sushi restaurant. I would need to try the other items on the menu, but from what I ordered my first visit I was impressed. When I got home I had received 6 total shrimp along with a small amount of steak. I called asking is this is all they give for $19.95. They said yes so I explained it was my last visit then. Sooo I moved to East Cobb 2.5 years ago. I was looking for a good Japanese restaurant. I googled and found this place. My son ordered the chicken fried rice and the chicken hibachi for me. I expected the traditional fried rice with diced pieces of chicken. Nope! It was fried rice with no vegetables cooked in and several strips of chicken on top with this teriyaki sauce drizzled atop. It had a yummy honey teriyaki flavor. The children hibachi was decent. The chicken was good with the same teriyaki sauce. The grilled vegetables were slightly overcooked. The fried rice was good. I have tried their house combo fried rice. It was the fried rice as described before. It had several strips of chicken, pieces of cooked beef, and 2 large shrimp atop with teriyaki sauce drizzled on top. The beef was cooked just right not tough or chewy. The food is reasonably priced and sufficient amount of food. I always split into 2 meals. I haven't tried the sushi yet but look forward to it. The servers are always pleasant. I always order to go.
