The service is good and friendly. There is parking around the square and on the back side of the square. You can order from the Japanese or Thai menu. I have ordered off both and thoroughly enjoyed the food, but I usually order off their Japanese menu. I love many of their rolls and would recommend anything they create. One of my girlfriends doesn't have any sushi eaters in her family, so w come here when we meet up because we both love their sushi. We usually share three rolls or four if we are really hungry. I like to start with edamame, miso soup, or cucumber salad. Appetizers I would recommend for their tastiness and flavor are the sashimi salad, which features a variety of raw fish, and the grand slam, which features spicy tuna, avocado, ago, and scallops. I love almost all rolls, so I will share some of my favorites, but it all depends on your favorite fish and your level of spiciness. If you like spicy, try the rock n' roll (spicy tuna and salmon with avocado), the hot rod (spicy tuna and cucumber), or the sea breeze (spicy tuna, cucumber, mango, avocado, and crab). In the non-spicy category, I will switch between the naked salmon, tiger maki, and high is crab, and the sashimi roll, which is unique because it has a cucumber wrap instead of seaweed. We went there today and had a terrible experience. It started out fine with a nice welcome at the door and pleasant server. The problem was the food. My mom took one bite of her food and I could immediately tell it was not good. She said it tasted like someone dumped a whole container of salt in her dish. Then I tasted mine and another salt bomb exploded in my dish. Our server came back and we told her we couldn't eat it because it was so overly salty. She said they'd remake it... so we waited... and waited! Around 30 minutes later she finally returned with 2 new plates of food. We took a bite and it was still overly salty but not as bad as before... I took another bite and there was a huge long HAIR in my food!!!! I was so grossed out! We were seated near the front where the manager was standing, so I motioned for him to come over and showed him my plate with the hair tangled in the chicken!!! We love Thaicoon! Always delicious! We came on a Wednesday around 8 pm and we're seated right away. The service is fast and friendly. We got the bagel roll, seabreeze roll, Marietta roll, and an appetizer (I forget the name - but it had a layer of tuna, avocado, mango, and scallops - almost like a ceviche but without chips). Everything was delicious and the portions are large. 1 roll is more than enough for 1 person, but of course we order multiple because they're all so good! The seabreeze roll is delicious with the mango. Over all a great experience. This building used to be part of the old train station, and they still have some of the original artifacts and architecture in the restaurant which is cool. We'll definitely be back again! read more

My boyfriend, daughter and I came to Marietta to meet some friends for dinner. They live there and suggested Thaicoon. I feel like I've been there many years ago, and was glad for a second chance to also get a review. This restaurant takes both Thai and Japanese cuisines, and makes anything from Thai curry to sushi. It's truly not skimping on any usual food you will find with either cuisine. Be sure to not get there too hungry if you come on a Saturday night. I was super starved, and we had about a 30 minute wait. I was impressed that as busy as they were, the food really managed to come out in a decent amount of time. My friend got the green curry, and it was really good! He wasn't able to finish it, and I was already full from my sushi, but I still was cramming it in my tummy because it was good. I love the creamy coconut flavor and the spice. The roll I got was also nice and fresh. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was their spicy mayo. It was just okay. Otherwise, everyone enjoyed their meals. I think my boyfriend wasn't quite as crazy about the teriyaki he got, but he still ate the majority of it. Great variety, yummy sushi, and good service. On this visit, I had steamed gyoza for the first time, which was quite tasty! I also had nam sod as my meal, which is my favorite thing on the menu! It is a tasty mix of ginger, fish sauce, and lime. It is refreshing, slightly spicy. The carrots and peanuts give it a nice crunch. My friend had the sashimi salad and was pleased with her choice. On this visit, there was an overwhelming smell of cigars at times. I have been to Thaicoon probably 10 times and that was a first, and hopefully a last. Went there Tuesday night it was 8:4. Sat immediately and there were a few tables In there. Sat at a table against a very dirty wall. Waitress was nice took our drink order.... Then no drinks can see them waiting on bar..... 10 minutes at least. Mind you they close 9:30. Finally drinks arrive we order 3 rolls, 2 entrees. Comes out as does entire staff trying to take away dishes we were still eating. If you didn't want to serve anyone tell us before sitting and if waitress took our order with urgency then this wouldn't have devolved into them making every effort to get us out. Not one but two vacuum's while we're eating. Mind you we were there for less then 45 minutes beginning to end. I have been in industry my whole life. This is rude. They brought us to go containers when were said no thanks we will finish. We finally after eating at hyper speed , downing our beers and spending 200 dollars left at 9:45. We were not keeping them or lingering over our meal for Christ sake. Maybe they should have allowed us to eat at a nice pace, treat us with respect for spending our money and use that time to clean the food off their walls. My family and I went here on Mother's Day and my birthday to celebrate, and unfortunately the experience was not pleasant. We were the third party that were sat (since they open at 5) and our table was neglected after placing our orders. We were not checked in on for almost an hour, and in total waited about an hour and 20 minutes for our food. Now, I understand the rush of the day, but our waitress was no where to be seen and we had to flag someone down to refill our drinks. We even noticed how other diners who were seated after us were served and left before we got our food. We finally spoke to a manager after asking for them, and our food was delivered within 15 minutes. However, the food was not worth that wait. Our "fried" rice was not fried, more like steamed with added vegetables and no seasonings, and it was very mushy. We also had the teriyaki salmon, which was way overcooked and dry. The beef in our fried rice was also tough. We also paid extra for some vegetables, and they were very thick-cut, not seasoned, and barely steamed. The food was difficult to enjoy, on top of the service we received. However, the sushi was good. They did give me some fried icecream for my birthday, which was very good and kind of them. They also apologized for the wait. But then, one of my family members woke up in the middle of the night with food poisoning symptoms. He had eaten mostly the "fried" rice, while the rest of my family did not, so we suspect that to be the culprit. Overall, we will unfortunately not be dining here again. If you are there just for the sushi, you could have a good experience, but in my opinion, the service and quality of food was not worth the money. read more

This was so gross. I called in a pickup order of two sushi rolls (American idol and the spicy Japanese scallop roll). Food came out after a 40 minute wait when estimated time was 20 minutes. Where is this restaurant in the Marietta Square? Just look for the word Marietta painted on a side of a building off Whitlock and there you have it. You found it!! There is free street parking and a lot near the Marietta museum also right there in that little area. I saw this restaurant when searching for fried rice in a pineapple. I wanted to do it myself for a gathering at my house. This restaurant popped up so thought we would try it since my son wanted some Thai or Chinese food. We placed a to go order for chicken fried rice and fried rice combo. They said 20 minutes. After driving around the square and finding parking, our food was ready 15 minutes later. As we walked toward the restaurant, I could smell the food and it smelled delicious. Happy to report my food tasted as delicious as it smelled. There were nice medium size shrimp in my fried rice and nice chunks of chicken. I did remove the tomatoes and cucumbers from my box. I put it in the fridge and ate separately. I prefer my cold foods not be in same box. I know that's their salad. It was a nice portion size. We both ate half our food and put rest away for later. I would recommend check it out. It looked very nice on the inside. The employees were friendly and approachable.
