Always great food and service here Today we had some Yakimeshi Rice with chicken a Nolana roll and the Tori dynamite. The Nolana roll is fried in a tempura batter and not has vegetables since I'm not big on seafood and the Tori dynamite comes with your voice of fried rice or steamed rice gohan the chicken are bite size deep fried nuggets with. I was out for dinner with family at 7 pm on the night of October 22 at the Ware rd location and while I was sipping down on my soft drink among the ice was a corroded mechanism which no one knew where it came from... my negative rating is due to the fact that the acting manager came to the table and o explained to him and showed the corroded mechaniam on my cup and he never apologized but instead said it was a "clean" mechanism and should not worry but based on his attitude and tone of voice made me and my family feel I was making a big deal out of it when all I wanted for them to do was to get an apology and have my drink changed which neither one of those ever happened... I did explained to him we as a family and me personally and on business are a regular customer.. his answer was that he had never seen me/us and also had the indecency to ask when the last time I had been there was making me and my family feel we were making it up..!!! someone needs to let this pseudo professional manager that the Kumori chain has locations reaching out all the way to San Antonio and Brownsville!!!! I found that comment insulting!!! Visited for a late lunch. This place never disappoints. Have been going for years to the Nolana location and now throughout their locations including San Antonio. Restaurant is usually small open concept with modern style decor. Som Food: Food is always great. Full of flavor and always greatly made. I enjoy ordering their Golden Dragon roll and New Style sashimi. I have tried sashimi in other places but never as great as this one. The oil and lemon give the sashimi a great taste. Drinks: Have had drinks here before but haven't enjoyed the taste as much as other places. They seem to have constructed different mixed drinks, but after once of overpaying for a drink and not getting a great taste, it's hard to want to repurchase on another occasion. Service: Service has been great on and off. It all depends on the waiter you get. I have received incorrect orders before and have to wait for my order to come out while everyone is eating already. Refills of drinks can take a while sometimes but other than that, everything is good. Could see a manager around but not once on my 10+ visits have we been asked if everything was well. Would definitely visit again. For larger groups, I would recommend going somewhere else. It may be a while before you are seated. read more

The skinny role is like a secret that no body knows about because it's not even on the menu! The story is that when the restaurant open it was one of the sushi rolls on the menu but people wouldn't try other rolls and the cost of making it was high for the restaurant but that's just a theory. I personally was never the type of person to eat sushi because I didn't know it could be fried! My rule is that if its fried it's probably good which was what made me finally decide to drop in on this restaurant and try their fantastic food. I love the skinny roll with the sweet sauce and the chipotle mayo but that's only my liking. My girlfriend likes the spicy sauce but I have never liked it because I am not the type to eat spicy stuff, which I am a bit ashamed of as a Mexican. And I ordered an ugly dry cucumber paradise roll for $9. If we wanted 90% rice in our rolls we could have gone to Kurai and paid the same price for endless rolls. Terrible service. The waitress was not knowledgeable, had a hard time comprehending our order, non-existent when we needed her attention, and slow! Doesn't help that they have a million wait staff working there when all they do is chit chat with each other, mess with their phones or stare blankly at us while we eat (they seriously need to find a different spot to stand around and twiddle their thumbs, made for an awkward eating situation). As for the food... Not what I would consider good sushi. I guess what can one expect when you're down in the valley. The fish did not taste fresh, the rolls were bland, and the nigiri was tiny! Disclaimer: this is NOT real sushi, but if you take it for what it is, it's pretty delicious. Extensive menu, tasty high-grade sashimi and fresh-squeezed lemonade! My biggest qualm is that this place has no concept of proper service timing! Drinks all come at different times, main courses arrive before appetizers, and don't even kid yourself into thinking everyone at your table will get their food at once. Inevitably, half of the table is eating while the other half watches. I've tried to become more zen about this though... Service itself is pretty good though. We are incessantly asking for more limes, extra spicy mayo, new chopsticks, lemonade refills and more napkins! Waiters generally quickly comply without annoyance. This particular location has the best layout IMO. I've been to nearly every Kumori there is and this location did not disappoint! If you haven't been to Kumori there are a few things to know - They have a vast and creative menu for sushi lovers They have cheap drinks They have an addictive sunomono salad! The menu is extensive and can be overwhelming. I recommend ordering a drink and an appetizer while you peruse the menu. Take your time. The drinks are reasonably priced and creative. My favorite is the cucumber martini. It's light and refreshing. The sunomono salad is addictive. I can eat it all day long. The cucumber is spiraled and lightly dressed. You can chose to have shrimp, octopus and crab. It's delicious no matter what you chose. The service has always been decent. It's not spectacular. It's in the middle. I've never had bad service here. I've combated some service problems by telling servers to just order a new drink when at half a glass and I get extra napkins, sauces etc before the meal comes out. Kumori also has a variety of sauces to enjoy including ponzu! If there is a roll I would not recommend it would the hot cheeto roll. It's basically a roll that has hot cheetos on top. I thought it would be sushi rolled in crushed cheetos but it was just hot cheetos dumped on top. I haven't found a roll that I would recommend because I haven't found a favorite yet. I've been to nearly all Kumori locations, and regardless of how busy the ambience is, even during the pandemic we're going through, maximum wait time is 30 min. When I placed my order via phone I was told my order would be ready in 30 minutes. I was waiting in the parking lot for nearly over an hour for a few items and when I received my order, the employee didn't give me an explanation for the waiting time. I understand there's others orders being placed, but at least be professional in letting customers know when the order will actually be ready in time. I've heard many bad reviews about this location, but I was being optimistic and decided to try it out since I was nearby. I have ordered form this location for curbside many times. I have realized the quality and freshness of the food has gone down. I have also experienced delays on the curbside pick up procedure. I text the provided number and provide the information needed. It often takes a while before I personally need to get down for my order. Which completely defeats the purpose of curbside. Now I wouldn't be bothered if the employees were busy but they are always either in the back or just standing around. This location was always my go to since it was quick and accurate on orders. I am not sure what has happened. It's probably due to management lacking on keeping up on employees. Or it may be employees who don't care for their job. I am giving a one star review only because I cannot give half. I used to love this location because the flavors were great and the service was amazing. The last time I went to this place everything was awful. First of all the place was extremely cold where everybody was uncomfortable. The waitress took forever to ask for our order and she did not bring any miso soups. The sushi rolls were bland and poorly rolled where they were not sticking together. The sauces were watered down (lemon soy) and there was little sauce inside the rolls. The waitress also got the order wrong (she did not bring a roll) which in the end was good since the food had no taste. But when it isn't it looses its charm. I don't like it when they bring out one roll at a time instead of all together. It's not really cheap, so without good service it is frustrating. The fish is not always fresh & the service is mediocre. You should not smell the fishy smell from your Sushi & the cuts of the Sashimi is a dead giveaway that the chef is not properly trained to cut the fish.
