Oh my! The food was good but that's it. Disgusting, Smokey, slippery greasy floor, hour wait past reservation. Get out of town or clean up.

The service was horrendous; it took over two hours for our meal to be prepared, and we were overlooked while other families who arrived later were served first. The server brought out the white rice a full 20 minutes before the rest of the meal, and with four of us dining, it took an unacceptable 20 minutes for each person to receive their food, preventing us from eating together. To make matters worse, the steak was cold. Overall, the experience was not worth a single dime, and I do not recommend this place to anyone! No star.... however I have to leave something. read more

We went in because outside it says Finally under New management but the place is dirty and worn out inside. In my opinion they need a deep cleaning and renovation. In my opinion it was not worth it and we will not be going back until they invest in improvements. read more

Hmmm. Waited a while for them to cook our food. The fried rice and veggies were good. They served it with ginger sauce and then we asked for the teriyaki sauce. Both sauces were very good. There was 4 of us. We ordered (2) scallops, scallops and shrimp, and chicken. Scallops were fishy tasting, chicken was average and the shrimp was pretty good. The venting system doesn't work very well. I think I got a fried rice smoke facial. Don't think we will come back here. read more

I only went to Shogun because they were advertising that they were under new management. I walked in and all you smell is smoke and paint. I guess their vent systems weren't working properly. They're doing renovations, so everything is hella chaotic. Honestly, it just looks dingy and dusty. The ceiling tiles are very yellow. When you sit down at the table, you get sporadic whiffs of old sink sponge mixed in with smoke. The food was very mid. Like super basic, and I assumed that for a $20.00 dinner plate, the rice was included. It's not, it's $3.00 bucks a person. The chef wasn't very interactive, and no one refilled our drinks. Perhaps theyre going through "under new management" growing pains. But I would not eat there again. Wasn't worth the $94.00 bucks tip included. Please skip this place if you're someone who has gone to plenty of hibachi spots because you'll be disappointed. First we stepped in and the building looks old inside and out. We thought "hey maybe the food is good let's not judge." It had plenty of wear and tear that hasn't been fixed for more than 10 years it seems. Neither do they care. There was no cleanliness. The chef was using an old rag to clean the grill which immediately made me lose my appetite. Unsanitary. The rice seemed like they had been sitting in the fridge for days. Food and soup had no flavor. Tasted like reheated food. Ended up coming home and spending time in the bathroom due to gastritis. I wouldn't go back even if someone paid me. The place has been updated and everything has been replace! New colors on the walls Carpet has been replaced with hard floor. Nice and clean! The chiefs are very progressionals have the tray carts nice and in order. Restrooms nicely keeped Hostess was very helpful and the food was cooked as I order: a touch of salt and olive oil instead of butter. This is by far one of the nastiest places I've ever been to. Everything feels sticky. I was in a good mood until it was funny for them to bring a Broom and dust pan out and give it to my 1.5 year old. The food wasn't bad but Hibachi in town is way better and clean as well. I asked to speak with the manager and he refused to come out. We was the only people in that place for a reason. First time there. This place is old. The place definitely needs an update remodeling inside and out. Personally I would move and build at a better location. The entrance area has a smell about it. The rubber floor is spongy and lifting up. I just about fell on my face as we walked in. Also Not the cleanest place. The indoor smoke vents don't do the job resulting a greasy feel every where. Their Service was ok. The staff tried hard, looks like they are short handed and over whelmed. They were however polite and friendly. Food also was ok. Not exceptional. Didn't care for their beef. Went here for dinner with friends. When arriving the place was completely dead! I was a little skeptical what to expect, but one of my friends have about this place, so I kept an open mind. The price for food is about the same price as any typical hibachi grill. $15-25 a plate, depending on what you get. My husband and I got their dinner for two special which includes: soup, salad, chicken, steak, and shrimp with side veggies and rice for about $35 which isn't too bad. The atmosphere is very bland. The building interior is old. The floors are grey with texture on it that makes the food carts super noisy when they being their food to you. Our hibachi chef was a little boring. Didn't really do much entertaining. The food was surprisingly delicious. Veggies and meat were cooked perfectly! And had such good flavor. the food was okay. but let's talk about the service. we waited 1 hour to have small portions of chicken and steak. by the time we had our soup and salads there was still no chef present. our soup came and the spoons came twenty minutes later. the rice was good but dry and the chicken was full of fat. the steak was chopped into tiny pieces. all in all the service gets a 1/10 and the food gets a 5/10. the bathrooms looked old for lack of better words read more

I wish I could do no stars. This place is disgusting. The bathroom has caked on dirtiness along with the restaurants. All you have to do is touch the tables to feel the grease. They sneak in charges to your bill and the food was subpar. Save your money and your time and place it's not worth it read more

One of my favorite restaurants in town growing up, Shogun is truly an establishment in the RGV. The food has remained flavorful and delicious, with the former standing in contrast to many Hibachi/Teppanyaki restaurants. They make all of their own sauces in-house from scratch, from the salad dressing to the teriyaki sauce! Additionally, the price is great, and I have yet to find something comparable at a sit-down Teppanyaki restaurant elsewhere in the country. Highly recommended! read more

I don't recommend this place at all. For starters when you walk in you are hit with a terrible stench of mildew mixed with natural gas. The floors are a rubber mat almost like a playground would have, and the place is just weird inside, very empty and uninviting. Hibachi is one of our favorite meals so we tend to eat it anywhere we travel to. This was by far the worst. The ginger dressing tasted like straight mayo and the salad was frozen. The soup was ok. It took almost an hour from the time we received our soup and salads for the cook to come out to begin cooking on the hibachi for us. We ordered 1 kid steak- medium meal, 1 kid shrimp meal, and 1 dinner for 2 combo, again with a medium steak. The veggies was just onions, mushrooms, and zucchini. The rice was very bland and lacking of any flavor. Then the guy put the meat and shrimp on and walked away for a long period of time. Both steaks were over done and the shrimp was beyond done and very chewy. Not to mention that we all now have stomachaches. read more

My boyfriend and I sat alone and just while we were eating our starters another waitress began moving chairs and cleaning--- full on cleaning!!! We went to this restaurant tonight with 10 of our friends and when I made our reservations I specified that I want an entertaining chef as this was a special occasion.
