Tea Leaf is fake, Tai Chi is slightly better but meh, ICHA is awesome but it's not KFT... my KFT. The #1 and it always will be. I miss my friends here. It's the only KFT for a good hour or more in any direction, and it's a great one. They make wonderful lemon black tea and have a wonderful staff. They can get really busy at times, but it's an excellent place to hang out, and I consider a lot of the people I've met in here, or that work here, my friends. They knew that I was a little lonely and isolated in the Buffalonian winter of 2018-19, and subsequently invited me to their Thanksgiving dinner, threw me a Citizenship party at the wonderful restaurant they also own - The Eastern Pearl. Talk about going above and beyond. I I even made my own drinks here (fun times). They always treated me like family, I will never forget them. For this reason it's my favourite boba shop in the whole country, this coming from someone that's been to thousands. Shout outs to my friend Yazzy who looks like Drake and has great music taste, my snapfriend Peter, to Ifan who always treated me wonderfully, to Cindy for the long chats, Irene who is sorely missed, the amazing Carmen who broke my heart and went back to the City, to Mike the fantastic owner, to Fevi Del Rey who'll always be my friend and made me feel like I had people that cared about me in Buffalo, and to Kevin and his hat, for all the great chats. I also love the regular milk tea with Oreo! They never had a problem making me off-menu drinks (a lot of KFT locations do), they never had a problem with me staying in here 5 hours and only getting one drink (although I often got more), and unlike certain other spots in town (cough Tea Leaf), they never judged me or started ugly rumours about me (that I know of) just because I hung out here so damn much. They also never tried to screw me over for $$$ like Tai Chi did. And their products are miles better than TC and TLC anyway. One word of advice for the corporation... stop trying to screw this wonderful store and all the other stores over. You're going to lose so many of your best people with this ugly practice. Showing up and yelling at my friends (the owners/employees) for not following the 300 mundane letters of the bull**** law and then trying to fine them just to extract more money from them? The rulers of the KFT empire should get their heads on straight. And a word of advice for the management, who I adore. Rumours of the tip jar being "for show" and the employees not getting said tips... I understand there may be justifications for such things, but do the right thing... we're all a little hard up for cash, but let the tips be for the people the tips were intended for: the servers. I'd usually downgrade several stars for this type of thing, but these are some of the nicest friends I ever met in Buffalo and they got me through a lot without even knowing it. A special shout out to Mo. I hope more than anything that when I get back to Buffalo he's got his citizenship and is working on opening an amazing Burmese food restaurant someday. He deserves it. This place is now absolutely disgusting. And has terrible service on top of that. The last two times I came here, I waited 20 minutes for food they clearly forgot to make. When I asked about the food, I was insulted by the guy behind the counter. Then when I got the food, it was disgusting. Check out the photos. It looks like chicken that was forgotten? This Kung Fu Tea is located in the Campus of Buffalo, which is very convenient for Buffalo students. I am pretty excited since I was starting to miss bubble tea. What this KFT do differently is they actually serve food. They have rice dishes and you can order it with a combo. There is also many tables available for dine in. The lychee punch I order was okay, more of the tea flavor. I guess it's as good as it gets here in Buffalo. The service was just okay nothing to complement about. Tea-rrific Boba! One of my favorite places in the area to get an authentic Taiwanese Tea! The menu is quite extensive so it's best to know before you go. Take a look online at their menu so you have an idea of what you want to order. There are many different teas and toppings to choose from. You can also customize the sugar and ice level in your tea. One of my favorites is the Taro Milk Tea with Tapioca "bubbles" or "balls" whatever you choose to call them. They are sooo fresh and more firm all the time. My preference is to order half sugar and less ice in my tea. There is plenty of comfortable seating here. The atmosphere is lively and busy as it is located right in the Commons at University of Buffalo's North Campus. I haven't tried their food yet, but I will be sure to one day! read more

I'm often looking for a relaxing place to lounge back and do some work and when Kung Fu Tea showed up during my "nearby" prompt on the Yelp App for Coffee / Tea, I decided to make the drive down to UB's North Campus and check it out. Inside, I felt like I was in a mix between a nightclub lounge and a coffee shop and I gotta say it worked. A nice, sleek atmosphere with high top tables and booths for larger groups. I went up to the register to try some of their food and decided on their pork belly buns -- which were very affordable and turned out delicious. Pieces of pork belly, mayo on a nice little bun -- two coming to my order. I didn't get any of the bubble tea, but enjoyed sitting back on at a table and doing some work for a few hours. Lots of college kids were hanging out and talking. For some nice light snacks + bubble tea + studying; this place is great! read more

I've come here a couple times for bubble tea and it's been an overall positive experience. This place is located on UB North campus. It has about 6-7 booth seats (that seat 4-5 people) and about 15-ish tables. The restaurant does not have good lighting. It's pretty dark, and if you want to get any work done, you'll have to find a seat by the windows. I think a lot of people just pick up and go, and most of the people who actually dine in are in no rush to leave. There's always a long line here (especially during the lunch time), but they're pretty quick with making the food and drinks. I've ordered the Kung Fu green milk tea and the Thai tea before - both with less sugar and no bubbles. The interesting thing about this place is that you can choose the levels of sweetness. The "less sugar" is actually 75% sugar and the "half sugar" is the 50%. They have about ten "meal" items on their menu, and the popcorn chicken here is pretty good. You can choose the level of spicy too. The popcorn chicken meal comes with rice topped with minced beef, and the portion size is pretty good for the price. The only thing I would change about this place is the lighting and the seats (some of the chairs are ripped and severely damaged), but otherwise, a nice place to come for boba. :) read more

I first came here through a Yelp event, I had only had bubble tea once before while on vacation in Rhode Island. I wasn't prepared for that first sip so I wasn't too into it. 2 years later I came in for the event and I'm in love. Since the Yelp event I've come back here a few times, mostly with coworkers on our lunch break since our office is a quick drive. I generally stick with the coffee milk tea because I like a mix of the regular bubbles and the coffee bursting bubbles. Additionally I like the fact that you can control the sugar levels in your drink, for me I generally keep it low. I also like the food here, I usually get the crispy-spicy chicken bites and rice, it's my favorite. My only disappointment here is the service and wait times. More often than not the staff has not attempted to go above and beyond any service levels to provide a memorable or favorable experience and when ordering food it will take extra-long to get your order so be prepared to wait and be prepared for confusion since most people don't seem to know their numbers and hang out right at the pick-up counter. The staff doesn't do much to help resolve this confusion either. To sum it up, I come here for the bubble tea and sometimes food, not the service. read more

Out of the two places on the campus to get boba tea, this is the one to go to. Service is pretty quick, and the atmosphere is better than at the Starbucks on campus. The people servicing at front do look scary and unapproachable, but the drinks always come out impecable. My only complaint is that they need to have the mobile order option that other KFT locations have. Sometimes I want to send my boyfriend or someone else to pick up my drink, but it's too complicated for him to order it for me. I also sometimes don't have time to order it in person if I'm running late to class. I would love to be able to order it and just drop in to pick it up. A lot of students, including myself, would probably frequent this much more than Starbucks if the just had a mobile order option. But if you have the time or need a spot to finish some assignment, definitely check this place out. read more

This place is literally a hidden gem hiding on UB's North Campus, but I call it a hidden tea party!! Loved going to this upbeat, inviting, bubble tea cafe. I had visited KFT quite a while back when visiting NYC and California. What an awesome surprise to find it here in Amherst NY ... never say never!!! Went there at the urging of my young daughter who has fallen in love with bubble tea and it's chewy tapioca balls. Crazy girl! She's out to try every kind of bubble tea A kid with goals, fursure. We got the passion fruit green tea, very juicy tropicalish type drink. Yummy Also tried the Oreo milk tea, which was too much like a McDonald's sugary milkshake. I would not get that one again. Unfortunately its name sounds like a juice bar or in this case a Tea bar so I've never looked in until today where I discovered a tiny lunch menu along with a broad choice of bubble tea. I ordered a Korean pork dish that surprised me with its generous lunchtime portion. The rest of the micro menu has Taiwanese and Chinese dishes. I topped off my lunch with a bubble tea. The bubble tea here is really good! I'm not a UB student and I didn't find any issues with parking on the weekend, definetly recommend coming even if you don't go to UB. I like the fact that you can choose how sweet you want your tea as I prefer my bubble tea less sweet. The milk tea doesn't automatically come with bubbles here, they're an "add in" so make sure to mention you want them. Last time I went the bubbles seemed to have been soaked in honey, which I didn't love however my boyfriend did. Also, try the food! All the food I've tried here has been really really good. I've been going here since 2014. This is probably one of my top two bubble tea places in WNY, and it's also super convenient for UB students since it's right on campus. They have a pretty good variety of drinks and also have a small food menu. I feel like there is a drink for everyone here no matter how picky they are. My favorite food item to get here is their Hainanese chicken. KFT is the only place in WNY I've found that has it on their menu. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken is also interesting and I strongly recommend you to try it if you've never had it before. I believe there are three spice levels: mild, medium, hot. KUNG FU - YOU MAKE ME SAD! You are better than this! I LOVE Kung Fu Tea, but this location is garbage. I have visited Kung Fu Tea in LA, Vegas, Colorado, NYC and it's always consistent and amazing. I have turned on dozens of people to your products. This spot is a total fail. 1. When you enter, it's dark and dingy, unlike other bright locations. 2. It smelled bad. They're cooking food in there? What the heck? This is Kung Fu Tea, a controlled franchise. Not "hey we do whatever we want in here!" 3. The staff acting like we were interrupting them. Didn't feel welcomed at all. 4. My standard large milk tea with boba was horrible, watered down and not enough ice. I could barely taste the tea. I literally, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, threw it out half way. 5. The boba was weird and kind of slimy and had a strange texture, like it wasn't cooked right or was old or God knows what. I was SO excited to find a Kung Fu Tea in Buffalo and even though there are other tea spots in town, I am loyal. Well, my loyalty was a mistake because this place is a train wreck. I've been searching for good lychee bubble tea in Buffalo since my friend got me hooked last summer. When I found out that there is a Kung Fu Tea on a campus - I freaked out! 1. Atmosphere- it's a little dark and intimate in here. They have several booths and open tables to sit. It's inviting for students and those who enjoy K-Pop (hence the BTS table). The menu is a bit confusing for those who may not be used to a build your own Bubble tea- but always ask for suggestions. On a busy day, the workers can be a little grumpy and the line can be long for a drink and food. 2. The food - YUM. Okay we had a pork dish here and it was moderately priced, delicious, and well seasoned. Would definitely try again because it was better than other pork dishes I've had around campus. Served in a white plastic take out container. 3. The bubble tea- my friend and I had different teas. I opted for the holy grail my favorite the Lychee with lychee jellies and 50% sweetener (it can be VERY sweet). It's around $4.25 for a medium which isn't bad. My friend who is not local got a traditional milk tea - his verdict on it was that it was decent and that he gives it two thumbs up for using a non-dairy milk powder! As a bubble tea lover, Kung Fu Tea has my heart. Out of all the boba locations near UB, this tea shop pours the MOST tapioca pearls into their drinks. It's the dream of every boba-obsessed person. Out of all the places in Buffalo, Kung Fu Tea makes the best bubble milk teas. However, the erratic changes in their hours is probably the most frustrating part of this establishment. Kung Fu Tea is part of a larger chain that is located in NYC. They can customize your drinks based on how sweet, how much ice, and what type of extras you want (tapioca, grass jelly, etc). They also offer quite a bit of snacks that are reminiscent of the Boba Shops back home (California). The place is very modern in design and has plenty of seating space for hanging out, reading or studying. They even have booths that are large enough to seat 8 people or so. They also offer a karaoke both in the back. Tip: call ahead to make sure they're open before you make the trip over otherwise you may end up disappointed. read more

I'm kind of stuck between "A-OK" and "Yay! I'm a fan". Kung Fu Tea is a decent option for bubble tea. I first heard of it in NYC and when it came to Buffalo, I was very excited. This KFT is different from the one in the city, as it has actual meals and it is a lot bigger. So if you're from NYC and you come here, it's a completely different feel and you might not even recognize it. Anyway, I do enjoy some of their drinks such as the flavored teas, slush, and occasional bubble tea. My least favorite of their drinks are actually the bubble teas. I would get it once in awhile, but I feel like it can taste too powdery. If you want your bubble tea to taste as fresh as possible and not as powdery, try to drink it ASAP and not let it sit for too long. Be aware: KFT drinks are pretty sweet, so I usually always have to adjust its sugar levels to 50% or even lower. Their food here is mediocre. If you're coming here for their curry though, I would say skip it because you can get it from other spots that would taste a lot fresher and better (i.e., Korean Express or even Dancing Chopstick's) a few minutes away in walking distance. The interior resembles a nightclub lounge. It has really comfy white seats and during certain hours, it is quite peaceful and quiet-- at least enough to get some work done. During maybe around lunch/early evening hours, it can get loud as people come in and out to order drinks/food or groups of people sitting there and just hanging out with their friends. I asked for oolong milk tea with grass jelly but when my friend brought it to me it was not oolong milk tea so I drove 20min to exchange it. When I got my new drink, it was still the same as before, pale and not dark, def not oolong. It tasted horrible. I have never seen an oolong milk tea that's pale and not dark.. If you want a hot drink, they apparently "turn off the machine" at around 6pm. This is my third time being frustrated since no one bothered to tell me they close it at a certain time. It's a TEA PLACE. And it's COLD outside. Why on earth would you turn off the hot drinks portion hours before you actually close!?!?!? EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. Oreo milk tea. If you haven't tried it before, try it out. One great thing about kungfu tea is they let you choose how you want your bubble tea. Ice, little ice, no ice. 50% sugar, 70%, 100%. I really appreciate that because sometimes bubble tea can get too sweet. But they do mess up orders occasionally so make sure to double check your bubble tea before heading out. Service is good and bad depending on who's working. I've had great experiences like when I preordered 15+ drinks and the staff carefully took and made my giant order. I've also had bad experiences like that one time the staff messed up my order (I had ordered oreo milk tea no ice with bubbles, I got oreo milk tea with ice no bubbles instead) and when I asked them to fix it they said they would have to charge me extra.... for their mistake... It's very hit or miss and really all depends on who's taking and making your order that day. I do like the decor a lot, even though most of the time I take my bubble tea to go. This place is great. I love all the different beverage choices they have. I only wish they would incorporate matcha into a few more of their drinks. They only have one option for it on the menu. Oh my gosh this place is great! The popcorn chicken is unlike any chicken you e ever had- sweet and salty, super crunchy. I couldn't get enough! I was confused by the drinks but the baristas were really helpful and walked me through the millions of choices. I tried a pineapple punch, which has pineapple jam in it. I added grape popping bubbles. It was really delicious! I love the covering of the drinks that you poke your straw through. Silly thing to excited about, but it's so different from standard American lids. Don't peel it, poke it! And make sure you get a big straw for your bubbles! The atmosphere is really cool too. Attended the Yelp elite event tonight which was very nice. This is right on UB North's campus, near the bookstore, in the Commons. Very nice decor and comfortable seating. Nice staff. Tons of flavors of tea. They showed us the process of making the tea and the bubbles which was pretty involved and impressive, not just coming from a box... Get the taro slush with tapioca bubbles - absolutely delicious! The atmosphere feels like a dance club karaoke bar, and the music played typically fits that theme. Even though it's on campus, you're not going to get a lot of studying done here! If you're hungry, I really like the lunch combo (bubble tea and a meal). Words cannot describe this New KFT. Taking your first step in, you feel the strong culture that they are trying to bring in on campus (Especially for those who come from the city). The decor is phenomenal and the place is comfortable and spacious (unlike the other spots in the commons where you have to climb on top of 20 other people with bubble jackets to get your order). Just like their famous signature drinks, the food here is one-of-a-kind and absolutely delicious (You must try the braised pork and fries). I hope they bring more franchises like this one up. Best bubble tea in Buffalo! This brand is really popular in Flushing, NY and after a long bit of searching finally found it up here in New York. They have like the best bubble tea and they really don't skimp out on the jelly or bubbles for the teA. If you get both, it will literally take up half the cup XD. I would recommend trying out all of their flavor as the majority of them are good. They also have these side dishes are pretty good. Their popcorn chicken is prob my favorite. Their pork buns, tea eggs, and braised pork are also good. Thinking about it now, most of their dishes are pretty good and cheap. Food aside they have a really nice setting inside the store with plenty of seats and some booths for privacy and larger groups. They also have a private room for karoke but you have to pay for that. I love the bubble tea here, but the service is definitely hit or miss. The employees are pretty nice for the most part but I've definitely had an employee talk down to me when I asked a simple question about other add-on options when they were out of boba. The good: customize ice level, sugar level, the specials for the bubble tea. The bad: I've ordered their popcorn chicken which was so salty I could not even finish it. I'm so happy they finally put a Kung Fu Tea in Buffalo, NY and even better now because it's on UB campus. The Taro Milk Tea with bubbles and jelly is the best and tasted just like what I got in NYC. The service was good and was greeted when I entered the store. The decors are amazing and the design is over the top. read more
