Came here after having a meal next door at Anchi. There was a good amount of people walking in and out of the cafe, so I thought I might as well take a visit. Upon walking in, there's a list of drink options they have the base of milk tea or fruit tea - whether you want a regular tea or smoothie form as well. I really liked the high number of options (compared to spots I've been to in Toronto it's usually a typical menu). They also had a few new additions and employee recommendations. Mango Smoothie: I decided to go for a mango smoothie since it's a safe option. Pretty big size portion, more than enough for what I was looking for. It was exactly what I expected from a mango smoothie. Lots of seating and a very chill spot to go with friends. The cafe also had some board games too. They were pretty quick with their service. This has to be the worst tea place I've ever had. For one, the staff is rude and unwelcoming. Twice now I've ordered here and they can't get the order right. I ordered today and the drinks were literally done in a minute of ordering. That's a big red flag because that's never the turnaround time boba tea. I also believe they handed us a drink that had been sitting there. That's the only reason it would have coconut milk in it when I didn't ask for it. I went in there and she really made the argument "it's a non dairy based creamer" yes and it is coconut. If you are going to just be picking a milk base for folks without consent, then at least make that known on your menu. I threw it in the trash and walked out. Never again. read more

The best bubble tea place in Buffalo! All their drinks are flavorful and do not taste like they're made from cheaply made flavored powders. Their bubbles are also really good, super chewy and taste fresh. They also have a stamp card, buy 10 get one free! I am kind of disappointed when the cashier told me Tea Leaf Cafe's supplier ended the lavender and earl grey flavor. I was a big fan of them. I love their regular boba, bursting boba, and lychee jelly. I order the regular boba the most though since I prefer the super chewy bubbles. Now that earl grey and lavender have been discontinued, I'll be sticking to mainly Rose, Thai, and Lychee. The cashiers are really kind and welcoming, feel free to ask for recommendations! A friend brought me to this cafe the other night. She loves bubble tea and wanted me to check it out. I'm happy that this cafe is in a plaza because there's plenty of parking available. Other cafes around Buffalo have street parking and sometimes it's difficult to get a spot. Walking into Tea leaves the cafe is very clean and the decor is very rich. There's dark wood and dark walls. I liked the music that was playing. The staff didn't really talk to us much or welcome us in. I had my friend order for me because she wanted me to try the lychee jelly. She ordered a passion tea with lychee jelly and it was too sweet for me. I like strong coffee and tea so I would like a tea with more depth of flavor. I also ordered the limoncello mascarpone cake. It was refreshing and delicious. The cake was given to me in a plastic container. I would've preferred a plate. If I go in again,I'll order for myself to get some more education on the beverages offered and tweak it more to my taste. I'm a connoisseur of bubble tea and am always on the hunt to find the best one in town. A few days ago, Yelp led me to this place that I have never tried before. I got a taro bubble tea as that is my favorite flavor and makes for a great comparison with other places. It was unfortunately very disappointing where it felt completely watered down and the milk tasted like it had gone bad. I'm not sure if they put too much ice in it or just used bad milk but I took two sips and threw the rest down the drain. The only saving grace for this place was the service which I thought was very polite and nice. I have walked by Tea Leaf cafe a few times when I was going to the AMC theater. The three times I peaked in, it was crowded and there was a long line. The day I stopped by was a rainy day so there was no wait. I tried their lychee green tea with lychee jelly. Surprising it wasn't that bad. I didn't have high exceptions but I would say since most of the flavored green tea drinks are normally mixed with a lot of syrup. I didn't find the syrup to overwhelming, it was more of a settle green tea flavor. The service was very quick but I can imagine from the few times I see that on days like Friday nights, weekends they will be extremely busy. I suppose their other drinks would pretty good. I used to come here a lot when it used to be the only bubble tea shop buffalo. I stopped coming here after numerous bubble tea shops opened in the area that taste way more authentic. I recently had a chance to try this place again because someone sent me a Postmates delivery of passionfruit bubble tea with bubbles and lychee jelly and popcorn chicken. I was so disappointed in their popcorn chicken because it was way too dry and rubbery. I honestly would not have been able to eat it without the sauce. I remember the quality of popcorn chicken here used to be ok but now the quality has declined significantly. The bubble tea tastes like how I remember. The great staff here are a major reason to make this your regular boba destination. They're ultra fast with drink prep and they remember your order if you're a regular. The Amherst location is convenient, steps from the AMC and nearby shops like Price Right and the Funko Pop shop. I have been going to Tea leave since I started at UB. It is a lot different back then. I still like going there for the drinks but not so much for the food. It is a nice place for small gatherings and a good cafe to do some work during the day. During the nights especially weekends, it gets pretty packed and noisy. I love going here for fruity drinks. I always get mango milk, honeydew, taro, Thai tea, or crack. Crack is a secret menu item. It is a combination of taro and coconut. It is really good. This is one of my favorite places. My family and I have came here for years. We are bubble tea addicts. I always get Taro bubble tea. I decided to get less sugar tonight. It still tasted amazing. I did 25% sweetened (recommended by one of the staff members). Anything else I have ever had here has been delicious including the desserts. Second time here and finally writing the review! The first time I came, it was accidental because I was just going to the AMC theater in the same complex. This time, I came for the boba. The cafe is located in Amherst and the inside is pretty well lit. There are about 10 tables, but a lot of people walk in and out with their boba order. My husband and I went around 7pm (Friday evening) and there was a line of about 6 parties waiting in line. The line moves really quickly. They are pretty fast making the boba so I think we waited less than 2-3 minutes for our boba after putting in our order. There were a lot of university students, but there were also a lot of families when we went too. The boba isn't the best I've tasted. Coming from the west coast, I've definitely had better, but it's not bad. I will say, the boba is on the sweeter side, so even though I ordered half sugar (or "light sugar" as they said), it was still sweeter than most boba places I've been to. The first time, I ordered lavender milk tea and today I ordered a Japanese matcha smoothie. Both times, the drinks were on the sweeter side. It's been about a year since I posted my last review, and since I still frequent this business I wanted to update on it. Well.. the smell to me is still the same mixture of vomit and coffee, but aside from that I love coming here. It can get busy during the school months with University at Buffalo right up the street, but the line tends to move fast and I've never waited more than 10 minutes. Drinks are still very cheap and reasonably priced. About roughly $4 depending on what you order and the size. I thoroughly enjoy adding extra scoops of their tapioca pearls "BOBA" to my drinks, I honestly think it's the best part! For one (1) extra scoop it's only $0.25 -- You can't beat that price! They also have "bursting Boba's" which are pretty good, they tend to be smaller and some are a little sour. I definitely reccomend checking this place out. There's more than enough room to accommodate any group of friends in their dining space, and their hours are very flexible to any work schedule. read more

This place was named as such because they don't like you sticking around to drink their goods. They prefer if you order the Tea. Then Leaf. Tea. Leaf. No? Nobody? How adorable! Having just discovered how wonderful Bubble Tea is, I found this place that's almost completely geared towards Bubble Tea! I tried the Passion Fruit, and it was good, but I have to say, not only did I not have that many Bubbles in it (which I don't really care about), but it wasn't as heavenly or perfect tasting as the Passion Fruit Bubble Tea at Gin Gin, and so for that reason, it doesn't quite hit the heights. The prices are okay, and the Bubble Tea is great - there are lots of flavours, I'll be back to maybe try the Pineapple and the Apple sometime. But Gin Gin is still my go to place in the B Lo for the B Tea. And for Coconut Bubble Tea it's all about Niagara Seafood on the west side. Awesomeness. read more

Okay, this has become one of my favorite cafe's in Amherst. It's perfect for bubble tea, has okay espresso and coffee (it will get you caffeinated, but don't expect artistry) and a nice layout with couches and plenty of desks (some power outlets, but not too many) with strong wifi. The reason for the upgrade to the 5-stars? Their food. They serve food daily from 12pm to 6pm and I think they have some of the best value and bang for the buck. $6.95 for a huge plate of Chicken Katsu Curry. Perfectly breaded chicken with a curry sauce over rice. And you get two sides! The crab potato salad is delicious and so is the cucumber salad. They also have Bulgogi Beef, Pork and a Banh Mi Sandwich. My go to is the Chicken Katsu Curry though and sometimes I get their Chicken & fresh mushroom small plate of handmade dumplings. They are also very good (perfectly crispy) and served with a delicious sauce, similar to a brewed warm soy sauce. All in all, the crowd here is younger for the most part; you get a lot of college kids since it's so close to UB. The food and bubble tea definitely elevate this place and the Chicken Katsu Curry alone is worth the drive out from downtown Buffalo. read more

First time trying Tea Leaf. Went in and ordered two ice chai lattes and a smoothie to go. When I got to my destination and opened bag, the iced chai lattes had the color of slight beige. I have had chais for 10+ years and they don't look like this. When you go to drink it, yep it's milk with barely any chai flavor. I had to make my own concentrated chai to add to it. You can get any flavor or mix and match basically anything. TLC offers appetizers, I recommend the pork fried dumplings. TLC offers wifi for the college students studying and other patrons. Stopped in with a friend for a bubble tea. I was pretty happy with their large selection of different teas. Black, green, oolong, roobios....they have it all! I selected a regular-sized black tea with almond flavor and milk with bobas. Super tasty. It was properly flavored and not watered down. The interior walls of the cafe are painted black but they use colorful shades on their lamp, bright paintings, and have many large picture windows to illuminate the cafe. Even on a cloudy day, this place would be bright inside. Lots of college kids hanging around and the ambience was low-key and not loud. You can carry a normal voice level and still be heard. I absolutely adore this place. It's my favorite place to go for bubble tea. Especially in the spring and summer. You should know that there is a constant stream of people coming in and out all the time. It's right by UB, so college kids galore, which also means it has that hipster college coffee house vibe. It's simple, there is a couch or two in there if you get to them in time. Nice music to bop along to. Saturday nights the place is packed. Keep that in mind. The lines are quick though, and the staff is always helpful. They'll guide you through the process and make suggestions if you ask. I love getting their milk smoothies. One of my favorites is the honeydew. You can mix up to three flavors, but they have to be either milk based flavors or fruit based flavors, but not both. The boba (tapioca balls) are optional. You don't have to get them if you don't want to. You also pick your tea base, green or black. You rarely go wrong with any combination of three drinks. This review is based solely on the bubble tea. I have been coming to Tea Leaf Cafe for years. It has a great location being close to Ub and the AMC theater. I usually stop in before or after a movie and that was the case tonight. After the movie my girlfriend and I stopped in around 10:30 pm on a Saturday night. Tea leaf cafe is always crowded on weekends and is sometimes hard to get a seat. There was a fairly long line but it moved fairly fast. Younger crowd usually on the weekend. If that's not your style get it to go. The bubble tea is very good. The prices are fair. They did mess up my order though. They gave me blueberry tea. I didn't order that. I told them and they were happy to make me another one if I wanted. I said I would try the blueberry. I'm glad I kept it. One of my new favorite flavors. The great thing is that there are so many flavors that it would take a ton of trips to try them all. The only bad part of the night was we had to have our tea outside due to the crowd inside. While having our tea outside a huge cockroach hit my foot. There was a ton of them. We figured they might have come from that awful Mexican restaurant in that plaza. Otherwise great experience.
