With friends for dinner. I ordered the veggie Tofu. I was ok. It was in a brown sauce and I feel that it needed more of something. But I usually order the Thai Basil Tofu, so I'll stick to that. My wife had a chicken dish and she felt the same thing. It was ok, maybe missing more flavor. Our friends seemed ok with their food. So, not sure what they really felt. They were so impressed on their first visit that they brought another neighbor along the second time, someone who owns a fine‑dining restaurant and is essentially a Michelin‑level chef from Washington State. He loved his dish as well, which definitely raised my expectations. Today, my spouse, two friends, and I decided to give it a try. As someone Asian, I'm not easily impressed by restaurants claiming to serve "authentic" Asian cuisine. I look for specific flavors, presentation, and a level of authenticity that matches the culture they represent. When I walk in, I look at what people are eating and who's working in the kitchen and dining room. Our server greeted us with a very thick accent and struggled to understand our questions about the menu. We found ourselves repeating things several times, which made ordering a bit challenging. When I began placing my order, I told him my first dish -- Shrimp Mei Fun -- and before I could continue, he immediately turned to my spouse for his order. I had to stop him and let him know I wasn't finished. The food came out quickly, but during the wait, no one checked on us or offered drink refills. When one of our friends' dishes arrived, the server said something none of us understood, and she seemed frustrated that we didn't respond. Our friend eventually realized the dish was meant for her -- except it wasn't what she ordered. She asked for Kung Pao Chicken but received General Tso's. She decided to keep it, and fortunately, everyone else's orders were correct. Now, the food itself? Delicious. Truly. If I were rating only the dishes, this would be a solid 5‑star review. But service matters, and unfortunately, the service fell short in several ways -- communication issues, no follow‑ups, and an incorrect order. Because of that, the best I can give is 3 stars. I would return, but only for takeout -- and I'd double‑check the order before leaving. I went to this restaurant in The Villages today for my birthday and I am really disappointed. I ordered Szechuan Beef and I drove 11 miles one way as per other reviews I thought this was supposed to be the best Chinese food in the area and Sadly I was mistaken. So, after I got home and I tasted my meal I thought that it did not look like beef at all and then after tasting it, it did not taste like beef to me at all it tasted like chicken. I called the restaurant and I spoke to the owner and I was thinking they made a mistake and gave me chicken instead of beef. I took a screen shot of the dinner and texted it to her and she said that my dinner was indeed beef and not chicken. If there was a mistake made I would be disappointed but I would accept it and I certainly was not going to drive 22 miles to go pick up a replacement but for the restaurant owner to tell me it is beef and if what she gave me was beef (which I highly doubt) I have never eaten beef that both tasted and looked like chicken before so the other scary thought is, if that is true and again that is a big IF then what kind of inferior meat are they using for the beef dishes. I also read an earlier review where the customer said the restaurant substituted their pork dish for chicken on more then one occasion so apparently this is not the first time the restaurant has substituted a protein. I know what beef looks and tastes like and I have ordered this dish at many a Chinese restaurant in the past and I have never questioned whether the Beef Szechuan was Chicken or some other kind of protein. So, long story longer! I will not EVER go to this restaurant again! This was the worst birthday meal ever, what a waste of money and not what I ordered . I also want to mention that this dish is supposed to be spicy as its a Szechuan dish and it was not spicy at all not even a little bit so the two words I would use to rate this meal would be Major Disappointment I am also posting the screen shot I sent to the owner which she had requested that I send for proof and she doubled down and still denied that it was chicken. My wife and I split this order of appetizer between the two of us for lunch, and we each had a cup of hot and sour soup. Takeout was super busy too. People who order takeout have to walk thru the restaurant to pick up. They probably need to figure out a better option for that. Something has changed. We used to go here quite often but lately they have really been off. Im not sure if they have changed staff or exactly what's up. The service is not the same because when they finally take you order they seemed really impatient. A major issue is the distancing between the tables on the right.
