We've had food from Sunrise a few times over the last several years when visiting my parents in The Villages. This was our first time dining in. It was Christmas day, and we appreciated that they were open and had a variety of vegetarian options to suit our needs. The food is okay. Not great. It does the job but was missing some flavor we'd hoped for. We had vegetable how mein, vegetable fried rice, and vegetables and tofu in brown sauce. All serviceable, but nothing "wow." It's also awfully bright in there, with just a few small tables in their dining space decorated with posters of Chinese food. It's not a great atmosphere, and you'd probably be better off getting takeout. The food came out quickly. (Though they forgot an item which came later.) Not our greatest experience. There's another nearby Chinese food place we'd try before coming back here. read more

I got sesame chicken and the sticky dough balls were just that, sticky dough! Bigger pieces has some very dried out dark meat. Pork fried rice had no pork, 1 carrot piece and 1 green pea. When we first found this place a few years ago, I thought it was amazing. The wonton soup tasted just like the one I got in Chinatown at home. My husband loved the Mongolian beef always said it was delicious but a year into we started to notice a lot of the meals weren't coming back the way we remembered so we stopped ordering, so yesterday I decided let's try again. The meal was really bad. I ordered the chicken rice soup. It was a container of rice with a couple pieces of chicken and a little broth. It was terrible. The lo mein, which I remember it was always really good had no taste. The boneless rib appetizer that cost $16 went into the garbage, it was nothing but little strips of pork like they use in the lo mein covered with the sauce. It was disgusting, I wish they would go back to the way they were when they first opened where the food was exceptional and now it's not even just above average. read more

This is a typical Asian fast food place. Menu boards above the order counter. Pictures on the walls. A view of the kitchen from the cash register. Our food tasted great. The place is clean and the noise level is normal. Prices are a little high but you get soup with your meal. We will return when we want a quick bite. read more

The pork fried rice recipe must be written on the Great Wall, and everyone who comes to America must know it by heart. I've reserved judgement of Sunrises Chinese menu items. I've only tried their Thai offerings and much to my surprise Sunrise does a decent job of representing Thai. Problem is, inconsistency. 3 times I've ordered Pad Thai, same way...and it's been different 3 times! It's ok Pad Thai but it lacks the depth as well as the correct ingredients typically found in the dish. Still, at just 5 miles away, it beats driving to Otown for the real deal. My wife had the Massaman Curry and it was well presented but lacked palm sugar or any heat, I've found at other Thai restaurants. I'd only recommend Sunrise to Villagers within a convenient drive. Prices are high with Pad Thai at $11.95 read more

The Sunrise Restaurant is excellent. They follow strict Covid guidelines with a plastic shield at the ordering counter. They have a small door to place your money and when your food is done they place it in that small cubicle. There is hand sanitizer right on the counter too. We were going to order Chinese food but they had a nice selection of Thai food so we got that. My husband had Red Curry and I had Thai Basil both with chicken. It was excellent and reminded us of the Thai food we would get up north. Our food was hot and full of flavor. We will definitely go back and glad to have a Chinese place on the southern end of The Villages. read more

This special restaurant deserves a 5 from me. So few places that have really good food in The Villages... Coming from South Florida I love and appreciate tasty Asian food. Ordered the Egg Foo Young which is really delicious with a fabulous side sauce.Pork Fried Rice really fresh. And the Pork with assorted Mixed Veggies really tasty because their brown sauce had FLAVOR. Yes, I will travel from Fenney to pick up delicious Asian Food. My wife and I ordered take-out from Sunrise last night and the food was hot, fresh, and delicious. I ordered the boneless pork ribs combination dinner and my lovely wife enjoyed Gen. Tso's chicken combo. We also tried the beef terriyaki appetizer. Everything was great and the portion sizes ensured we will be eating leftovers today. We used the on-line ordering system and that worked well, but did not give a time when the order would be ready... it only said ASAP. We will definitely be going back. ASAP. read more
