The good: Sizzling plate presentation with tofu & veggies The cook on the veggies was right Slightly crispy tofu was nice Stir fry sauce was pretty good For seafood hot pot Large portions of seafood cooked pretty well Things to improve: take pho off the menu; this is not remotely what pho tastes like and the beef was tough with five spice flavor? No no no The hot pot needs more flavor in the broth. Overall sizzling plate with veggies & tofu was the best; when restaurants venture out of their comfort zones then we end up with things that are not pleasant (fusion) but the sizzling plate was fine. I've heard some good stuff about this restaurant, so my sister and decided to give it a try. The service was great! Clean and friendly environment. Anyway, the food was good, except for one order. We both ordered a spicy tuna handroll .. and It was far from sushi quality. It was crunchy (not in a good way), had more rice in it than tuna and just didn't taste that good! Very disappointing. I've been here in the Villages for 10 years, I have searched for an Indian Buffet. I finally found a great one. If I could, I would give them 2.5 stars. My dish was, Tofu and Vegetables ok, heavy sauce, not much flavor and it came with rice. My wife liked her chicken wraps and she had a huge bowl of soup. The soup was without much flavor to me, but my wife really liked it. Our friends loved their dishes, another tofu and vegetables and also an eggplant dish. The service was great though and that made up for a lot. If I come back, I would try the Thai dishes, the curry or Pad Thai and see if those have the flavor that I like. The owner was very nice and gave us each some home made sangria to try. That was very nice. Overall, it is a great menu for both me and vegetarian and my wife Gluten Free. So well done there. Place was relatively empty so we were always seated promptly. I found the interior very dark and a stale smell. Right across from hostess stand was a room divider to mask staff's area but one saw the clutter of plates and personal items. Menu is several pages and there are sections for lunch specials. Unfortunately for me, on both of my visits I sent food back as it a) miso soup, had a very off putting taste and b) chicken tempura (bento box) was a flat pounded boneless skinless chicken patty dredged in breading (add tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese and you'd have chicken Parmesan). My wait staff were both very polite and attentive and on both visits saw that my alternate choice was handled quickly. Just had lunch at the Bamboo Bistro: The summer roll was one shrimp and one piece of basil and about a cup of vermicelli noodles. Ordered beef pho and the vegetables that came out for the soup were expired and basil had worm holes in it. The limes were also expired. The waitress was great and brought me new produce. The garlic green beans were excellent. The true star of the meal. We had to ask for chopsticks, chili sauce, siracha and hoisin - all which are standard at any pho house. I have visited here twice after being new to the area. My first experience was pretty good, we had good service from Kenny, and the food had great presentation. Upon our first visit, we ordered numerous sushi rolls, and all was well except for the sushi roll containing crab. It was extremely fishy, to the point as if it had gone bad. We didn't eat it. Second visit we got to-go. This is where things got worse. We ordered the village sushi roll, along with sweet & sour chicken. The sushi roll tasted fine but later that night resulted in diarrhea and vomiting, a clear food poisoning indicator. The sweet & sour chicken so far has not made me sick, but the chicken was awful. It was extremely thin, heavily breaded, and well over cooked. Imagine chewing on a piece of rubber, that is what it was like. So despite our first better experience, the second experience definitely sealed the deal on us not coming back. Not to mention that the sushi and chicken cost me $35, so I was really expecting much better quality for the price. read more

The Bistro use to have good food and quite the variety. Last night 6 of us made reservations, and not one of us was happy with our food. 3 of the meals were barely warm. The sauce for the lettuce wraps was nasty, and instead of serving with large lettuce leafs, it looked like they just chopped off the edge of a lettuce. The white rice was horrible. The server Kenny is abrupt and lacking personality. We left at 7:00 pm and there was only one couple left in the restaurant. We all decided it was our last visit there! read more

Slow service and horrible waiter (Ken). We went there for my mom's birthday in a fun and festive mood. We waited 25 minutes after being seated just to get water. We waited another 15 minutes to order appetizers and another 20 minutes for the appetizers. The restaurant was not full, so we can't say that was the cause for the slow service. The waiter made it quite obvious that he did not want to be there. No smile, no conversation and rarely checked in on us to see if we needed anything. I would only give 1 star, but the food was OK (not great!). We ordered coffee after dinner and he gave us tea instead (huh!). He apologized and said that people rarely order coffee and the coffee machine is rarely used. We won't be back!!! read more

The only thing tthat wasn't perfect was the waiter Kenny. Yes he was relatively ok at his job but there was no warm & fuzzy as top notch wait people are. Originally we had Destiny a beautiful girl with personality. Other than Kenny's shortcomings which are many the food was awesome. The owner sorry I don't know her name was onsite & always spot on. My biggest regret I forgot to take my before pictures of our plates. Rest assured everything we had was spectacular. This restaurant will be on my hit list for return visits. As always, Apsara is & will always be my favorite but Apsara is up north in Providence, R. I. Bamboo Harden is now my southern #2 Asian restaurant. Kudos x 99. I don't like giving negative reviews about food or staff but I'm spot on when I see less than stellar performance. Our return visit will be with a different waitperson.
