Burned thru my retainer with no documentation of hours worked/bills sent (while failing to pursue important aspects of my case and then surprise-billed me after weeks of no contact for additional "work" during a time when she had already been ordered to stop practicing. My sister and I are clients of Sari Kurland. When the Court issued my sister a settlement of tens of thousands of dollars, Sari cashed the check and then lied to us for nine months, saying that it was "lost in the mail." We never saw a dime of the money owed to my sister until we confronted Sari. She first asked us to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which we refused. Do not use this firm for loan modification help, as they are not a help and expensive. I paid top dollar to have two submissions for a modification denied due to incomplete information, I have copies of emails from this firm that were admonishing, unhelpful, and arrogant. I ended up completing the modification by myself, despite several request for their help - and the modification was almost at 6% - unheard of. The process took over a year and despite my continual follow up, flagrant refusals to contact the bank on my behalf. Buyer beware. read more

Let me start by saying I don't write reviews because I understand the concept of how hard it is to own and run a business. I myself am studying law myself, and would never speak to a potential client the way Ms. Kurland spoke to me. I called her firm asking for assistant for our small start up business and yes I have already done my homework prior. The first thing she asked was basically do you have money to pay us because most people that call don't. Ummm. I find that ridiculously rude. I'm sure you get a lot of calls a day but you need to treat individuals with the benefit of the doubt when you run a business, not everyone is out for free service and certainly not myself. We may be a start company but we have strong credentials and have already have budgets set aside for legal fees as why we called. I never want to work with someone whom questioned my intentions for wanting free labor or can afford her. Would never call if I couldn't afford to. Very unprofessional. Let me start with this-Sari is the best there is. I had a company do a real crappy job on repairs for my house and took a lot of shortcuts and lied about installing certain products. I could go on but this is about Sari. I called her, we had a meeting, I explained the situation and showed her the contract. Sari made it very clear on what she had to do plus she said if I needed to contact her call anytime. Once this was all said and done she made the other party pay for breach of contract. Now, whenever I have any financial problems I turn to her and she always helps. I don't know why these other people say what they do but she took care of me, even if it's out of her purview she advises me what to do and who to see. Best of all she took her time and didn't charge me a dime, now that's customer service! That's what is lost these days. Sari even took the time to follow up (That never happens). If you are looking for just any lawyer look on the internet. If you want an excellent lawyer call Sari. In June of last year 2015, SLS had filed foreclosure against me and I procured the services of the Sari Kurkland Law Group. I have suffered job loss, illness and several traumatic and very personally challenging circumstances over the last few years that I really do not want to post to the public. However, I can attest to the fact that my list is pretty long and convincing. I am still suffering the consequences and financial hardship for being past caretaker to an elderly parent who is now deceased. The law group was recommended by a fellow attorney that had a reputation for working on loan modifications. I did my homework and searched around for reliable names. Although I contacted 3-4 firms, I was impressed by the quick responsiveness from Shari Parish of the firm when I contacted them about my foreclosure court date. I also appreciated the manner in which Shari communicated with me by phone which I felt was both professional and compassionate at the same time. She did not judge me and I needed that from a representing entity. From the inception of dealing with me on the loan modification ranging from the payment arrangements (I did not have the funds to pay them when I called them) Shari worked with me prior to the court date to negotiating and advising me on steps necessary in procuring the modification. As a result, I feel both fortunate and blessed by the experience. I did my homework and SLS does not have the best reputation, but my modification was accepted by the lender in the late fall of 2015. I would not have been able to negotiate the modification on my own without the assistance of the Kurkland law firm (Shari Parish), and they were diligent in how they moved forward with the modification as I faced some unexpected challenges. Wanda A. I am so sorry for your experience in such stressful times. My experience was much worst this "firm" out of her house which strives only on online marketing. Because of her I'm most likely going to lose my father last art, legacy, and my mothers last memories. I have massive extra charges and now my loan has been passed down to a third party servicer. When you Google this servicer you see there is no chance of keeping your home. They drag the process and are a crocked company. I am still fighting this war. After this experience I have been afraid to retain another lawyer and in all honestly there is no way I can take this on much longer. I will voice the course of events with email & letter proof to FTC, BBB, OCC, and all possible sites when this is all over. This is not about the money as I stated to the Attorney Grievance Commission, its about the next victim. What if I didn't move back from NYC and drop my career, friends, stability to help my grieving mother & they took advantage of her? My father was her partner in life for over 37 years &they did everything together. We lost him in a sudden heart attack, nothing was planned. I was so shaken up by the entire experience of harassment, lies, intimidation that I did not have the energy to even write a summary of events & still don't because I am now fighting another animal that my father never even signed a contract with. I did not have the emotional energy to write a letter clearly stating course of events to the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland with the email & letter evidence so my submission was a mess. Let me put it this way I followed up with a call & The Attorney Grievance Commission is waiting for my appeal. Sari is beyond arrogant and heartless. You don't kick & take advantage of people when they are down. Its not ethical. When I called to follow up with Staff Attorney, Jennifer Thompson was in shock the loan mod was still going on! She said I should definitely contact Committee on the Resolution Fee Dispute. But like I told her this isn't about the money. She cost me more than what I paid her. But the entire situation was extremely stressful and I do not want to address it till this is all behind me. One war at a time. I also paid top dollar for fixed firm contract till loan mod was complete for our property address. She had her assistant/paralegal execute the entire process. After one submission which took months was also denied due to incomplete/incorrect docs & was then passed down to third party servicer. She stated in her email this is common & she has been sucessful with SLS. But yet she wanted to charge me again because it was passed down to third party servicer and her excuse in her emails "it was nobody's fault" when regulations mandate disclosure of cost not to mislead consumers decisions to move forward with legal representation. She even had the nerve to act like she was doing me favor offering a discounted rate for a 2nd mod for same property address. Besides the rude unprofessional emails she never gave me a retainer. This was the 1st time I ever needed a lawyer so I had no clue. Then after back & forth emails she rudely relied to my inquiry to refer to my retainer. That's when I asked her for a copy of signed retainer. After weeks she finally responds all of sudden she was willing to continue at no additional charge&sent "modified retainer" to do a half ass job after I paid top dollar! Obviously at that point I had lost trust as she had breached our contract. How attentive, organized, and professional is any lawyer who doesn't provide a retainer with a clear plan for the client? Would you trust your home to someone that can't even follow basic legal procedures? After my refund request all of sudden she got proactive. I wanted to invest in a professional attorney I felt safe & protected. She then started harassing my mother by sending a certified letter to her job stating she felt it was ethical to inform her client what was going on after months. She had not spoke or met my mother once. My mother was like were did you find these con artist. It didn't stop there. Then she attempted to have colleague attorney intimidate me, Mr. Gerald Solomon, with a letter stating that Sari Kurland was not charging me for transfer to another servicer but because the modification process with BB&T had been completed! They didn't even get there stories straight! There are multiple emails from Sari Kurland attempting to charge me for transfer to another servicer. At that point I feel Mr. Solomon was embarrassed he was defending such nonsense&harassment& offered to take over the case at no charge due to the situation. I was so shaken up I definitely did not feel safe with anyone affiliated with such trash. I did Google him. He seemed like an experienced professional, but not experienced enough to know who's on his team! See it could of been worst! And yes your right 6% is worst than a refinance!
