When I got the documents, she had written up a testamentary trust along with a general power of attorney, which needed a lot of changes. Then, she tells me that if I want a "regular" trust, I would have to pay an additional $1,200. I had already paid $3,000. Instead, they wanted an additional $360 for creating some sort of extra document. The firm refused to give back any amount I had paid. I am now looking into legal action.

The other lawyers threw some ideas and opinions out but Mike was clearly the leader of the group, and the respondents and their respective lawyers, followed his gentle and professional lead and pace.  It might be cliche to say that I really hope I never see him again... but if we ever find ourselves in another legal situation, I know that it will be OK as long as we have Mike Campbell on our side. Peak Settlement was horrible and doesn't want to work with you. I had a settlement that was…read morescheduled for close to the time my property taxes were due to the county. During the closing process, I asked the lawyer I was closing with the steps I would need to take to prevent a double payment of the property taxes by my current bank and by the closing process which would pay the taxes. The person closing the refinance let me know that he would hold off paying the taxes until the last minute to see what my bank would do. Later in the week my bank paid the taxes so I got in touch with Peak to let them know that the bank closed the loan. Peak informed me that they sent in the tax payment so a double payment occurred. I then asked how I can get the refund for the overpayment and would it be possible for the company to hold the check and let me pick it up from them, particularly since it is close to my job. I was upset about the overpayment occurring since I was told they would hold off and allow time for my bank to pay it, so I did ask to please make sure that they can hold the check for me to pick it up. The person on the phone first said it may take two to three weeks for me to receive a refund and that they will follow up with Montgomery County, then he changed it to I will need to check with Montgomery County to see when the double payment post and then inform them. His instructions and statements changed multiple times during the conversation, including I just need to show them proof from my current bank that it was paid and they can give me a refund to they will check with Montgomery County and get me a refund to I need to follow up with Montgomery County for the double payment and they will get me the refund. One would hope that you could take the person you are closing a loan of a significant amount at their word, but the experience left me angry. You would imagine a company in the financial sector would understand the time value of money but maybe not. I would not recommend this group for your closing.
