I called for a same day walk-in appointment and not only did Kerry take me with no problem, when I walked in the shop she put me directly in the washing chair. No wait time at all. She is very professional and super pleasant and this was all before she did my hair. I got a press and trim and let me tell you Keray slayed my hair. She took pictures and showed me what she needed to do but let me make the decision of how I wanted it to look before she did it. I loved what she did to my hair and I will 100% be coming back. Keray did a great job on my healthy hair express and was very kind and attentive at my first appointment and I was glad to have finally found a stylist I could trust! At my second appointment she had her assistant do the wash and blow dry and Keray did the trim. The assistant did not use very much heat protectant and was rough with the blow dry so I asked her to add more heat protectant. She said she didn't because it was going to ruin the silk press but I wasn't there for a silk press which the assistant wasn't aware of. I was very disappointed by the assistant doing the wash, conditioner and blow dry and she didn't even do a good job on the blow dry so Keray had to blow dry more if it again (so my hair was already dry so she blew dried hair that was already dry). I baby my hair and my ends and rarely use heat so I did not like this. I had asked ahead of time (via text) the third time to have Keray do the full service and the person who answered the text said to make a note when making my appointment to do that. So when I made my appointment I put in the notes "please have Keray do the full service" but instead again, her assistant did the wash and blow dry. This time I even had to tell her assistant what shampoo to use on me. Again she did the wash and blow dry instead of Keray. I know the healthy hair express is one of the cheaper items that Keray offers so maybe she did not want to waste her time to do it with me when other customers were getting more expensive things like weaves. But I went to her specifically because I wanted Keray's expertise not her assistant's. I had actually read good reviews of Keray on TikTok so I had been excited to go to her. My experience with Ms. Keray was hit and miss. I like a certain vibe and understanding with a stylist and she was pleasant enough, but I feel like she is set in her ways so it was difficult to get her to execute certain services such as interior trims, as she only wanted to trim the ends. The silk press I received was great, but I mainly get hair maintenance services, where I prefer a smooth, silk-press-like blowout. This was difficult to achieve because she doesn't like to blow dry hair straight. My last visit with her I arrived a few minutes prior to my Sunday appointment, [after she changed it from Saturday] and she had someone in her chair already. She let me know that her assistant, who is usually late, would be taking me. I find this to be an issue as I don't prefer the assistant who is/has regularly been late to be the one to shampoo/detangle/blow dry my hair and when she does it's hesitantly at that, [an assistant may detangle and blowdry "if" and when she knows what she's doing, but I'm not sure she is there yet, at least it didn't feel that way] Ms. Keray ended up doing the shampoo/condition anyway, etc., but I ended up with the assistant for the detangle/blowdry, only after starting me, she abruptly stopped, took another customer and Keray ended up finishing my hair anyway....too much! In terms of environment, the music was loud and this visit it was censorable. The location is good, parking is okay and the shop is clean, but overall I was not happy, so I won't be back. read more

Nothing against her in regards to silk pressings which I was inquiring about, but I originally set up an appointment for a "first time new client," as she requests for new clients, and also wanted to know if I could have a silk press done at the same time. I called twice a week prior before the upcoming appointment, and left voicemails to check, and see if I could have a silk press done at the same time as it didn't give the option. Her Instagram states "if you have never been serviced by keray, you are required to book the FIRST TIME CLIENT Healthy Hair Express. You will receive your consultation, along with a treatment based on your hair care needs." A treatment to me could mean anything including a silk press possibly. She also states that " This is a first time client service only. You will receive a consultation, from there I will assess your hair and together, we will figure out what route is best for your hair care journey. You will then receive a shampoo & conditioning treatment specific to your hair needs. You will also receive a blow dry (if desired) and a trim to begin your journey. Your follow up appointment will be set at that time." The time frame was 1:05-1:35 which is not enough time for a silk press let alone a blow dry session so before showing up and paying 60 dollars for a "consultation," fee I tried to get ahead by calling in advance to see if we could also do a silk press at that time. She never called back. I did a final call today, left yet again another message about the same thing asking if she could please give me a call; and let me know either way in case I needed to schedule with someone else... the number I called today texted and said she doesn't offer silk press's for new clients, and she also cancelled my appointment without speaking to me. I'm giving a one star because one : it doesn't state she can't do silk presses for new clients (especially when she's offering blow drying and treatment services) and two: she didn't have the decency to even call back to let me know. Sadly the negative reviews here are accurate. I booked a Healthy Hair Express service which includes a trim. My hair was just chopped at the ends instead of carefully trimmed in sections. Because of the way my hair was trimmed, it's been impossible to style it. Even worse, she didn't do a thorough job so even though it looks perfectly blunt from the back, there are shorter sections with scraggly ends because she didn't go in sections. If she doesn't want to take the time to do proper trims, it's probably better to remove that item from the service. Nobody's hair is better off with a sloppy quick chop. As another poster mentioned, her website has a long aggressive list of rules and demands you must follow before booking. Even if you follow them, you may or may not get a timely professional reply. I had to reach out 3 separate times via the website and text just to book the healthy hair express which is silly since it's supposed to be booked every month. On top of that, she nor her shampoo people were wearing masks while servicing clients. Given how close she is when styling hair for so many different people, that is irresponsible and dangerous. I was really disappointed with my experience and won't be going back. I suggest choosing another stylist as Keray seems to have her fill and isn't interested in extending a warm safe welcome to new clients. read more

Pay attention to the recent negative reviews - I ignored them just because I was referred to this stylist. I tried calling to ask some questions during their posted hours but didn't get through. No biggie. Left a message asking for a callback, decided to book online and grab a new client appointment time anyway, and figured I could just ask my questions once I got there. Never heard back. Again, no biggie. Maybe they get more calls than they can handle and drop some messages from time to time, it happens. Then they cancelled my appointment without even calling me first, emailing, carrier pigeon, smoke signal etc., similar to another reviewer. I got an automated email letting me know. Welp, ok then. I cleared a window in my work day to make this appointment, you could have called at least? Any other business, you call and a person answers the phone - "Good afternoon, you've reached XYZ, how may I help you?". Dang, even my dentist's office will at least try speaking to me before cancelling my appointment and she's booked and busy months out. If this is how it is before you even get there, well...just not for me. Fortunately, finding a good hairstylist isn't too difficult and sadly, based on the negative reviews I think this was probably a blessing in disguise, speaking for myself. Unfortunately, i experienced the worst experience ever with this hair stylist. This hair stylist claimed she was experienced with natural hair as I had been natural for 5 years using no heat. I first went to Keray back in September of 2020 & I was happy with the service and was praying that after straightening my hair when I went to revert it back it would go back to being curly and it did with some slight looseness in the front area but I figured it needed to bounce back since it had not had heat in 5 years. I then went again to her in February 2021 & to straighten for a length check & get a trim. I kept my hair straight for a month since it lasted that long. I eventually washed my hair by the end of March maybe the 1st week in April and my hair stunk so bad and didnt know why. When I washed it the right side of my hair was so straight & loose I couldnt believe it. I thought maybe its in shock & will bounce back so after a week I washed it again did a protein treatment and same thing. I finally realized my hair was damaged. I sent her a message informing her I think I have heat damage & what can I do. She asked me did my hair smell burnt while wet and Im like yea it did smell really bad when I washed it. Her response I'm not sure whats going on since I havent seen you in a while. I recommend using Amika. Well of course you wouldnt see me in awhile because I am natural & dont use heat like other people. No come in let me see & try to give you treatments nothing. So I decided to braid my hair to grow out the heat damage thats all I can do at this point. Well as of 7/31/21, I took out my braids and my hair completely broke off in the braid where the heat damage was this is due to the hair being so weak with the natural new growth and the straight part. Can you say pissed? I still have another part of heat damage that needs to just be cut off but it's so short that I cant even imagine cutting off all my hair to maybe an inch mind you my hair length is 18 inches. You should never ever touch anyone with natural hair again. Beware natural hair girls do not go here!! I am also thinking about filing a complaint against her license. It took me forever to grow my hair being natural and it being healthy. In just one visit all my progress down the drain. I try not to cry because it is just hair but it's my hair and I paid someone who is supposed to be a professional and experienced and that wasnt the case. read more
