When I arrived (5min early) I was assigned to a braider who spent about 45 minutes just sectioning the hair. At the time, I didn't complain, even though it seemed like a long time. After that, the staff started discussing something among themselves, and the braider working on my hair left. I assumed she would return, but after waiting about 35 minutes, I was informed that she had left because the salon owner felt she was too slow and decided to split the job between two braiders. According to what I was told, she became upset and left. By that point, I had already been at the salon for 1 hour and 30 minutes. I continued waiting, trying to decide what to do, until I had been there for a full 2 hours. I then explained that it was already 4:00 p.m. and that I had no intention of staying at the salon later than 8:00 p.m. This was exactly why I had mentioned from the beginning that I have a lot of hair. Instead, I was told to wait another 30 minutes to an hour for a different braider to arrive before they could even begin the service. The fact that the hair had already been sectioned and prepared was not my responsibility, but the owner kept saying that just to keep me in the store waiting. This entire situation demonstrated a lack of preparation and professionalism on the part of the salon management. The owner already knew the amount of hair I have and the type of service required, yet assigned me to someone she herself described as being too slow for the job. As a result, I spent over two hours at the salon without the service even beginning and ultimately left frustrated after wasting half of my day.

Since I've been struggling with my hair and most stylists rip through it whenever I get any style I added on the honeycomb detangling. I left wondering if the 'gentle hair comb out' was ever in the room with us. My stylist basically just brushed through it... with no difference in technique compared to the girl next to me who only got the blow dry service without any added detangling service. So safe to say that stylists rip through your hair whether you pay extra for soft detangling or not. Considering I had just combed through and detangled my hair just a few days prior, I also know for a fact that the huge clumps of hair that were left on the floor were not 'normal shedding' and that was extremely irritating to see because again.... i paid extra for a softer detangling to avoid that. I also had hoped that i'd get some product considering the all natural ingredients highlighted on their page and I've been desperate to try and find something that works. But every question I asked I was met with short (although polite) one word responses. There was no interest trying to understand my hair needs and what products they had to help me in my journey. My stylist actually tried selling me on a spray bottle right when I sat down without any conversation or questions or anything. How could you know what my hair might need without looking at it?? Going through it?? Asking me how my hair has been?? Just an immediate upsell which of course doesn't feel like their priority is maintaining my healthy hair like they claim but instead its just to make money. I paid $150 for 4 cornrows and soft detangling... for what I got I could've gone to any beauty supply down the street for less than half the cost and the same amount of breakage and styling. I contacted customer service and was initially offered a refund, but then received no response for several days. I only heard back after opening a PayPal dispute. The lack of communication and follow-through was extremely disappointing. I also feel that the products are no longer worth the price. The formulas seem different from what I remember, the prices have increased significantly, and the ingredient lists include synthetic color additives that do not align with the natural image the brand promotes. The products were decent, but I did not see enough benefit to justify the current cost. Between the higher prices, formula concerns, and poor customer service, I cannot recommend this company based on my experience.

After stating you didn't take walk-ins (not a problem), you asked if I could come in the next day, which was Sunday. I replied that Sunday was not good for me. Your final statement was that you would get back with me later in the day to make an appointment for some time on Friday, Jan. 6th. I hadn't heard from you and followed up with a text. NO RESPONSE. You texted me back the next day (Sunday morning) stating that when you had downtime, you would get back with me. I replied with an "Ok." I gave you the benefit of the doubt, understanding that you may be busy, and decided to wait a few days. NO RESPONSE. In our conversation and text, you never directed me to your website to make an appointment nor a consultation. Quite frankly, you should not make the assumption that "all NEW and and existing clients" know how to reach you and book an appointment. I was a potentially NEW client and reached out to you via phone and text, old school style, with good intentions. I have sat in Jocelyn's chair on 3 occasions and Just know that when a product or service she is providing does not go well she will not take accountability or even validate her negligence. Which is ironic because she prides on giving good quality hair practices and products, when the reality is far from that. It's disturbing to see the black community support black business as they tear the same people down paying their bills by providing low quality service and products. I paid Joycelyn a couple hundred dollars for a 22" curly hair texture that I was very specific about regarding the specifications. She sold me on how she professionally sales hair weave and clip ins that are of the highest grade quality hair and will "last a lifetime". I was swayed by what seemed like a genuine hair pitch and also considering her to be my trusted hair stylist at the time. To my disappointment after paying her a couple hundred she quoted for the hair she gave me some loose clip in that apparently she didn't have any packaging for. When I took them home to analyze them, from the touch the hair was breaking and shedding. The strands also felt very course, not like any other Virgin or human hair I've ever encountered. I attempted to dampen the hair and use Design Essentials conditioner. The hair completely matted and the curls were straight and stringy, completely unusable. I sent photos to Jocelyn and her first response was "I've never had any quality issues with my supplier" as if me being a paying customer was expected to pitty this disappointment & inconvenience. She has refused to pay me back the full amount for the hair and for a future appointment that was booked before I was scammed through the insufficient weave provided. Instead of sending back to the money a basic industry standard she decided to make up services that she did not provide or overcharged for previously. It is clear she obviously needs the money otherwise she would not be illegally withholding money that is not hers. So consider that. I have attached photos for receipts I hate seeing people being taken advantage of and mislead, especially amongst our own community. For existing and prospective clients be warned when doing any type of business transaction with this individual/ entity.
