For 10 years I have been going to Balyage by Gigi and even though I moved to NYC 6 years ago, I still travel back 3 to 4 times a year for Gigi & Lisa. They are gifted! I'm so very pleased with my experience with Gigi and her team! The ladies are all attentive and skilled at their craft. My hair is naturally blonde/fine/long and I'm always on the hunt for someone who can actually add color, but not leave foil lines etc. Bc my hair is so straight it will show things like that. The ladies made me feel comfortable and I felt I could put my trust in them to do a great job, which they did! A separate girl does the haircut, which is how it should be, and she is extremely talented and skilled at her craft as well. Lala was great and made me laugh a lot and took care and precision with the toner and everything else she did. 5 stars all around to queen Gigi and her magic balayage skills! I'm not sure about you, but whenever I am about to get my hair done, I get "hair anxiety"-- like what if it's not exactly how I want it and I drop alll this money to feel half satisfied?? Well when you get there, Gigi really listens to you and makes all that hair anxiety wash away I've been to Gigi twice before this, but this time-- I waited a while 12.5 months from my last appt to come in. Blame the schedule of a health care professional during the pandemic... my hair was complete jet black on top but the balayage she did last time grew out so nicely still even after a year. I wanted a blonde that would be impossible to get right away and Gigi was upfront with me and told me it wouldn't be healthy or look the way I wanted so I trusted her opinion. She even told me to wait 3-4 months to come back if I wanted to lighten-- she's not pushy and honest. I love my results! I'm super happy I found her after moving back from NYC. I almost wanted to knock a star off because in order to blow dry your hair, you do it with Lisa-- who is great, but for 80$, not worth it to me. So if you don't want to get a blow dry, they'll leave your hair with a wet blow and you can go home and do it yourself. This one star review is for professionalism and cost, not the job done. It is in reference to Gigis lack of professional conduct. I went in for highlights and was recommended to do low lights and a trim and wait out the damage. Great! So that's what we did. Everything turned out beautifully, which is what made the end of this visit such a disappointment The only friendly person in that salon was the sweet woman who cut my hair. I was there from 11:30-3:30 and wasn't offered even a water. The girl who washed my hair and did the toner said maybe 5 words to me and was extremely aggressive. This was not a welcoming environment. $200 for a cut and style and $360 for low lights a mask and toner seems a bit much, but I will say the cut is the best I've ever had. I'm willing to pay for quality and this is quality work no doubt. Now to the main reason for my review- I went in wearing a white SEMI see through through tank top, corduroy pants and a Jean jacket, which covered my chest. They all, including Gigi, saw me walk in with the jacket on. I put their robe on in the bathroom and they hung my jacket. At the end of my service I removed the robe they provided in front of Gigi and proceeded to the bathroom to get my jacket at which point Gigi called to her associate who cut my hair and was gesturing to her chest pointing out my nipples. When I came out and she noticed me noticing her doing that she started pretending to play with the pins on her apron. I said yes I know they're there... and she didn't look up or acknowledge I'd caught her being outrageously inappropriate. I paid and still left a tip, which I regret. why would a grown woman feel the need to point that out to another grown woman. That is not how the owner of a salon should behave. I'd been nothing but pleasant during my visit and I felt so disrespected and so wildly uncomfortable upon leaving. I really considered reaching out directly to tell her how I felt but considering she was that inappropriate to my face I don't think she'd care if I felt disrespected. So. If you want beautiful hair, this place is it. But don't expect a warm environment or basic respect from Gigi. read more

Okay how in this world did this hair salon get 5 stars? Are these people being paid to put up fake reviews? Please feel free to check out the end result of how my hair looks. It looks exactly the same as when I first walked in except two light strands in the front to frame my face. Doesn't look like a professional did this. I saw all these wonderful reviews on here so I figured to give this place a try get my roots done and lighten my hair. It ended up being $450 not including cut or blow dry and my shirt was drenched from a hair wash. My hair is exactly the same color that I walked in with. I was never offered water or anything and mind you, I was at this salon for 2 hrs. This place is overpriced and the end result was disappointing. Shitty job in my opinion. Also, there is no parking. I've lived in Los Angeles for 20 years, and I've finally found my blonde hair guru. Not only is Gigi a color genius, but she's also the absolute sweetest and kindest person. Not to mention, she's got the fastest foils in the west and my hair never gets brassy- unheard of for me. At other salons in the past, I've dreaded sitting in a chair for six hours, but Gigi never fails to get me in and out in record time while maintaining top quality and appropriate processing time. Her awesome sister LaLa works with her, and their sister/family vibe seeps into the air in the best way. (I love a salon that is sophisticated with absolutely no attitude). Gigi is undoubtedly a balayage master. She knows her craft very well. My hair looks great and I'm super happy with it. Additionally, she is responsive via her online contact form. I had a question regarding pricing and she got back to me relatively quickly. I was able to make an appointment this way as well (although I did call the salon in order to leave my credit card information as they require that to hold an appointment). I was also able to get an appointment within a week (my schedule was very open/flexible but still). I also really appreciated how everyone at the salon worked together. The other staffers bounced around and took care of whatever needed to be done. It was a very efficient system. RE: PRICE. The only issue for me is cost. I certainly didn't expect it to be cheap but it ended up being more than the maximum that I was quoted. I was initially told (via e-mail) that balayage can range from 280-350 and cut will be 135 (185 with style). In the end, the balayage alone ended up costing 360 (before tip). Not sure what made it so expensive as my hair is short (shorter than shoulder length) and we didn't have to do any color correction. RE: PARKING. Street parking only. The employees will run out and add money to your meter, FYI. At the end of the day, if you've got the money, don't hesitate. You'll be happy with your result. read more

Goodmorning, Before making the appointment I sent pictures of my hair and let them know I wanted a balayage. I asked the $ and also asked if I had to go in for a consultation. She responded $360 plus if I needed a hair cut $180. Which I said I didn't want one, only a trim if needed. She then said I didn't need to go to go in 4 a consultation. Ok... so I get there right! Mind you that now I realized they are good hustlers.. not in a bad way... a good way 4 them (2 mk $)... I sat on the chair and Gigi and 1 more girl start asking questions of what do I do for work? ( I now realize that it's to find out how much you mk, to know how much they will charge you @ the end)... Long story short, 1 girl does your foils and she cut my hair without even asking me! She was talking so much and she parted my hair and chop.. I was like ok maybe I needed it but still they need to ask. She has short hair, & some girls with short hair don't really know how us long hair girls feel about long hair. Ok back to the review, another girl puts you under the heat, then that girl washes your hair,.. and then another girl blow drys it and wants to cut it some more.. I was like she already cut it.. then she responds oh no she just cuts before so she doesn't have to put dye all the way to the bottom what???? Oh no... it looks nice in the front.. but now that i took a new shower and looked at it with a mirror on the bk.. there's no color! The color starts below 1/2 of my hair.. I know it's a balayage but there's like no color that you can see in the bk! Im not satisfied The whole thing cost.. like $580 for the foil part Then the other girl $85 (since I didn't want a hair cut or style) and they still ask for a tip.. I did leave 2 tips... but this is way too much for how 1. Had already gave me a price 2. Cut my hair without asking 2. Different girls doing different things Total spent &735... NO..!! I've seen Gigi a few times since I've moved back to LA last year and she's by far the best balayage colorist I've worked with. I have dark, coarse hair that can sometimes be challenging to brighten. This week I showed her some inspiration that I figured might be too bright for my hair, but she killed it and gave me exactly what I was looking for. I called in and the girl that answered was super polite and joyful and made sure to answer all of my questions with timing, pricing, etc. I came in with virgin black hair and a realistic understanding that my hair was not going to be blonde balayage in one session. We got to a real beautiful caramel color for my first session and it took about 3.5 hours. (i have medium length hair but a LOT of it) Finally, the girls that assist her are so sweet and lovely to talk to! My results are amazing and I can't wait to come back in 3 months to boost up to a lighter color! I should also add that I had noticed after I left that one side wasn't as light as the other. You can see it in the first picture I've added. The blending was just a little different but still quality work. I reached out with pictures and heard back ASAP saying they'd bring me back in to correct it and booked me back in a few days later. Came back today and experiencing the same excellent service. I went to get my highlights and cut done after checking the reviews as my hair is naturally red and a bit more difficult to work with, so it was important for me to invest my money wisely as it's not the cheapest option out there. I have to say the haircut Lisa performed was one of the best hair cuts I've ever gotten and my hair is now really healthy and full of life even though I don't normally end up cutting as much as I let Lisa cut, and I don't regret it!
