This was a first class experience all the way! I called and they told me where to park ( park in the back) When I arrived they helped me to select dresses for the occasion. The sales lady ( her name was Bow) was excellent at helping me select and try on ten dresses. I selected two but like all of them could have worked and I got multiple compliments when I wore the dress. I will return and suggest you pay them a visit! I absolutely loved my skirt! I went in looking for a skirt to wear for Black Panther, and for the summer time. Came in here for an outfit for a birthday brunch my friend was hosting the following day. I had initially tried ordering my outfit from Amazon, but, due to my own procrastination, I wasn't happy with it and there wasn't enough time to order a replacement. Brick and mortar, here we go. I walked in expecting my usual shopping experience: being left alone to my own devices, finding something that worked for what I wanted and getting out of there. What I experienced was far different. I was greeted warmly and offered a beverage; I was given options based on sizing, preference and the event I was going to -- and I was offered alternatives for other parts of my life i.e. if you like this, you'll love that. My susceptibility to up-selling depends on my mood, but I can say I wasn't really in the mood on this day. However, I did end up purchasing a couple pieces in addition to what I had gone in for because they brought me things they thought I would like, and I did end up liking them -- a lot. The dress I initially went in for was a hit -- got lots of compliments and people asking me where it was from. I also bought a hooded tunic and a pair of pants that honestly make me feel so comfortable and stylish -- and I've gotten COUNTLESS compliments on them already, which the ladies in the store said I would -- someone yelled at me from across a courtyard that my pants were amazing -- and another person said, "I have so much pant envy right now!" The ladies in the store were absolutely right. I should also say that African print clothing, and bright clothing in general, is WAY out of my general aesthetic comfort zone -- I am a self-proclaimed minimalist with a tendency to wear cool neutrals (black, gray, white) with the occasional splash of color in the form of a carefully chosen accessory. Full length, wide-leg, bright orange printed pants are not in my usual wheelhouse, but damn if I don't make these bad boys look GOOOOD :) The reasons this review is four stars and not five are minor, but worth mentioning: 1. The dress I bought was on sale for 89 down from 95, but I was charged 90 for it, according to my receipt. I'm not sure why, and I didn't notice it until I had already walked out of the store, but I ultimately decided it wasn't worth going back in to fight for a dollar (especially since the rest of my customer service experience was really great), but I work for my money just like everyone else and this soured the experience a bit for me. If there's a price listed on the tag, that's the price people should be charged. Period. 2. That said, there are actually very few articles of clothing in this store with pricing on them, which I am always wary of -- but seeing that these garments are handmade/bespoke and custom-ish, it's understandable. However, at check out, there was no indication of any pricing until my items were fully rung up. For my finances and budget, it was fine, but I could see someone else potentially getting sticker shock -- and being shy about asking what things cost. That can be avoided by either putting price tags on the clothing, or calling out the prices as you're ringing up -- prior to totaling. It would save a bit of awkwardness in the long run, I think. 3. In our Groupon/Yelp times, I think that it's always good business practice to offer your Yelp/Groupon deals (or some variation thereof) to customers in-store, too - or at least let them know you have a Yelp promotion happening in case they want to partake in it on their next trip. Finding out about it after the fact always tends to result in that "aw, man!" feeling for me. However, even with these minor things, I still had a great shopping experience and will definitely be back -- probably for another pair of pants. Thank you, Kutula! read more
