I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and they even asked for my name. The young man at the counter was very welcoming and friendly, which made the experience feel a bit more personal. The menu had so many options it was honestly hard to decide. To play it safe, I stuck with my usual go-to: a White Mocha Latte. My drink arrived hot, and they actually bring it out to your table, which was a nice touch. I had to let it cool for a bit while I sat back and read my book. The latte was well made--smooth, not overly sweet, and perfectly balanced. I paid about $6 for a 16 oz, which isn't bad at all. That seems pretty average for a medium-sized coffee these days. Parking was also a breeze. I was able to pull right up front near the door, which made the visit even more convenient. Overall, it's a nice little spot to relax, sip a good cup of coffee, and unwind for a while. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. I will sit through the traffic on 285 every week just to come back here. This was such a WELL rounded experience. First things first, the place was super cute. Good place to meet with friends, or get some work done. They do have wifi and seated areas that assist with that as well... The staff though??? I felt like I was in someone's house with the home-like hospitality I received. Seriously the folks who work there are sunshine in human form. Especially Star, is she sees this, you are awesome girl!!! Now for the eats/drinks: I ordered the dirty vanilla chai. Never have I ever ordered a chai that didn't need some sort of enhancements like sugar, creamer etc... Ya'll this chai was PERFECTLY made. It needed NOTHING added to it. Ugh just TOO good. My friend and I ordered the breakfast sandwich, she ordered the Vegan version and I ordered the regular one with sausage. We both ordered them on croissants versus the other option of a bagel. It was so so delicious, I almost had to slow myself down from not eating my hands. Anytime I try a new place, of course I'll remember if what I ate was good and my overall experience. Not only is this Black-owned gem serving up the most amazing coffee, but they've got smoothies, breakfast, lunch, and even vegan options that will have you coming back for more. I tried their White Chocolate Chai Latte (absolutely delicious ) and the Iced Peach Cobbler Latte (so good it feels like a hug in a cup). For breakfast, I had their Breakfast Sandwich and Cream Cheese Danish and both were fire. Then for lunch, the Turkey Melt with Shrimp & Corn Chowder blew me away, and the Vegan Oxtail was next-level. They are really great! The atmosphere is amazing and coffee is always good. My only "complaint" is the amount of time they take to make things. I only say this just to give a helpful comment because otherwise I love them and will keep coming back. However, it really shouldn't take 15 minutes for cream cheese to be put on a toasted bagel. Especially when I'm the only person there. This is an occurring issue. That's all, but overall this is a black owned business everyone should support! read more

I finally stopped by Kuumba Coffee. Apparently I'm late to the party as they've been open a couple years now, but I believe they opened around the time the pandemic started and I don't frequent downtown Douglasville often so probably why I didn't know, but on to the good stuff! This is a black and family owned business that is located in downtown Douglasville and right next door to Gumbeaux's. I've never been inside this building before so I thought it was pretty unique upon entering as it's a small but open space due to the length of the shop. I ended up getting the white chocolate chai latte. I also got a strawberry and cream Frappuccino I believe and a hazelnut latte. The white chocolate chai latte was pretty good. They definitely have a variety of options on their menu so it was a bit overwhelming for me as I literally wanted to try everything lol. They just give me a good reason to go back! The staff was very patient with me though as it took me a while to decide what I was going to order. I definitely have to visit them again to try some of their other menu items. read more

First time in downtown Douglasville, and certainly not my last! Stumbled upon this awesome local coffee shop and was pleasantly surprised by the large food and beverage menu they offer. I went with the green smoothie with almond milk and it was so refreshing and very filling. I wanted some healthy protein to fill my rumbling tummy, so I also ordered the avocado toast and was blown away from the very first bite. I did opt to leave off the balsamic glaze and I'm so glad I did because to me, balsamic just overpowers all other flavors. Husband got a black cold brew (he's a simple man when it comes to coffee), and he was very pleased with the flavor and richness of the coffee. Plenty of seating is available, and service was fantastic. I'm not sure if the owner or manager came over to our table, but she was so kind and made sure we got everything we ordered and that we were happy with our purchases. This cute coffee shop is located in downtown Douglasville. It is black owned family business. I stopped in the other day to grab a quick bite before running some errands. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but their hours of business hold me back. Kuumba has a great product line, which includes a full range of lattes, coffees, teas, and a modest food menu. The hours of business, however, make no sense for a coffee shop. Coffee shops, in my opinion should open no later than 7am. To open at 10am on a Saturday screams, we don't really want or need to do business. I can handle being closed on Sunday, but Mondays too?!? There have been times that I've dropped by and they were closed when they were supposed to be open. I just don't get it. read more

I decided to come by on a Saturday morning for a quick breakfast. They were hosting an event for Christmas toy donations - I wish I had know before I got there, I would've stopped and grab something. Anywho, I was very happy with my Cinnamon Roll Latte, and my breakfast sandwich. They are very friendly here. I am in LOVE with Kuumba! I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but I take a walk through downtown every day for exercise, and by the end of it, I'm super hungry!
