I only ever get the soft serve matcha mix and it's never failed me! Absolutely love this place! Service is quick and efficient. The vibes are great!

I've been to this place before but a different location. Typically I'll get their matcha swirl ice cream in a cone but this time, I decided to try one of their cakes. Overall, I am a huge fan of crepe cakes. But the FLAVOR of this tiramisu crepe cake was AMAAAZING. Not too sweet but this would pair well with a hot tea for sure!! Service was fast and the workers do their best to call out your number to get your order. They also have the big screen to order and pay if you don't feel social that day! The vibes were calm. Definitely a place that isn't too noisy. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is because I found the menu to be extremely expensive. It was $10 for a slice of the cake. Would I buy it again? Maybe if I was craving it.

A cozy and modern spot for high quality desserts! The interiors are very clean, and there is a communal box of games. Almost everything on the menu is matcha flavored but very customizable. We got a parfait with the mixed swirl ice cream, which was very tasty. Almost too much going on with ice cream, cake, red bean, cereal flakes, mochi--in the future, will probably just get the ice cream with mochi topping. Efficient service, lots of indoor seating, connected to Akira ramen.

We finally got to come here while we were waiting for our pup to get looked over at the vet. We were lucky to get a parking spot right by the front of the restaurant, but there is also a parking garage across the street. It was pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon at 2 pm. We ordered at the kiosk at the front as there really wasn't anyone at the register. We decided to get the matcha tiramisu, the soft serve swirl in a cup, and the peach oolong crepe cake. Everything came out relatively fast, about 5 minutes. The soft serve was our favorite. Just really good flavor and good texture. A perfect soft serve. The peach oolong cake was very very good. It had a subtle hint of oolong but the peach flavor was delicious. It wasn't quite as delicate at the crepe cake from Lady M, but I think the flavor was a little better here. The matcha tiramisu was fine. We didn't love it. It came with a small cup of matcha. I'm not sure if we were suppose to pour it in there? Or just sip it while eating the tiramisu, we did both. But it really didn't add anything. I wouldn't get that again. They do have free wifi and water you can go and fill up a cup yourself. Parking might be a little annoying since you have to park across the street if you don't manage to snag one of the 7 or so spots close by.

I was in Towson for only four days, and somehow I found myself coming to Kyoto Matcha every single day. That says a lot about how quickly I fell in love with this place. This was hands down one of the most memorable dessert spots I've ever been to. The presentation is gorgeous, but more importantly--the taste is thoughtfully balanced, never too sweet, and full of traditional Japanese flavor. The Ube Mille Crepe Cake was light, creamy, and beautifully layered. It came with a piece of soft matcha sponge cake and a scoop of anko (sweet red bean paste)--everything on the plate just worked together. Subtle, elegant, and satisfying. I also tried the Matcha Parfait, layered with matcha + vanilla soft serve, mochi, anko, sponge cake, crispy cornflakes, and custard. So many textures in one dessert, and each spoonful was its own little surprise. Everything felt freshly made. The shop itself has a cozy, modern Japanese vibe. Super clean and aesthetically pleasing--definitely Instagram-worthy, but also genuinely delicious. I loved it so much I even started seriously considering franchising it myself. That's how good it is. If you're in Towson and even remotely curious about matcha or Japanese-style desserts, this is a must-visit. I'll be dreaming about this place long after I've left.

I didn't know there was a Kyoto Matcha in Towson! There's been a lot of changes in the downtown circle area and glad to see more Asian options. Kyoto is chain and it's my first time trying it. I loved the soft serve the mix of milk and matcha was delightful. The toppings I could do without. I was really excited about the red bean but it was lackluster in flavor and the mochi was too wet. The soft serve is definitely the hero here. The interior was designed really cute with Pokémon murals. The staff was so patient. We walked in and it took us a while to order. The towel cake was more for novelty - it was like the Netflix show: is it cake. I thought there would be more to the cake but for me it was too creamy and the crepe layer was flavorless. Come for the soft serve, it's epic.

Came here for a quick and cool drink before a movie. Ordered the matcha latte, which was super good. The restaurant is also super nice- lots of seating and beautiful art. Reason why I'm giving 2 stars is for service. This wasn't for me, but another customer did not receive the right drink they ordered. Instead of making a new one and rectifying the mistake, they made the customer order a whole new drink and pay again. And the employee did not handle themselves as I would hope. 2 stars for the drink and place itself but must mark down for the service I saw.

I highly recommend stopping by this place for the macha soft serve ice cream. It is much creamier and thicker than the usual soft serve ice cream. It is more similar to gelato than ice cream. Very nice macha tea flavor.

If you're a lover of matcha or new to the taste, then Kyoto Matcha has you covered for a quick matcha fix. Kyoto Matcha offers a variety of matcha items on their menu from soft-serve, matcha lattes, and lemonades to matcha crepe layer cakes and cheesecake. Located in Towson's center circle, Kyoto Matcha has a cute little vibe inside, or there is outside seating to enjoy the summer sun. They also make it pretty easy to order your treats by using their kiosk. My only issue is that it seems you aren't allowed to add toppings to your soft-serve ice cream in a cone versus in a cup. Which we kinda didn't understand since adding sprinkles to an ice cream cone is normal, but all in all, it was a tasty little treat.

Kyoto Matcha has some remarkable features that I have identified below: Vibes: The shop itself is cute and spacious. They are well organized and clean. It allows for a fun yet studious space. There are outlets throughout and they also have board games to play. The workers are always friendly and quick. Selection: Since it is a matcha place it encompasses mostly matcha dessert, however there are a few different options in terms of cakes and drinks to choose from. How the food is presented never disappoints. Taste: The boba cake on the left was really moist and didn't taste much like boba besides having the boba there. The Frappuccino is sweet yet also maintains the matcha flavor and I find that hard to do with desserts that are around matcha. Their servings are also fair for their prices. Some things I would like to note: - they only have street parking - if you enjoy rnb, their selection of music is beautiful

This was my first time here. I recently had a matcha soft serve on a food truck that does not have a physical location, so I found this shop that features all things matcha. The ambiance of this location was nice. I liked the efficiency of the ordering process, which was conducted via kiosk. I actually love this new kiosk ordering idea. Not only does it give you time to think about what you want to order, but also diminishes the feeling of being rushed. The steps from ordering to pickup were efficient. The matcha swirl was delicious and creamy. It was good enough that I will try it again at the location closer to me.

Another great dessert place! Throw a rock in the Towson circle and you'll hit something delicious! Or you'll hit a car... don't really do that... But, it is really good and a bit different, stop in with some friends so that you can try several desserts at once! We ran the matcha gamut this visit; the ice cream, the cake, the cheesecake, and enjoyed it all. There are several other flavor profiles, so if matcha isn't your thing, there's still plenty to try. (Sorry for your luck if you don't love matcha though.) Ordering was quick and easy, use a kiosk, or the staff is just as quick and helpful. Two thumbs up from us!

I think that's a good thing to keep in mind, as lots of the flavors were very tasty but heavy, and I was thinking a whole cup at once would be too much. I decided on a small Mint Chocolate Chip cookie dough. It had very good, strong flavor, and my cup had a lid for when I stopped halfway through and closed it up for later. It's not that it was a huge scoop; I just couldn't have that much cookie dough all at once. It's more filling than ice cream or chocolate that you don't notice disappearing. OTOH single-serving desserts are always expensive--see the $6 ice cream sundaes when a whole quart of ice cream at the grocery store can be $3.00. A small cookie dough was $4.99, but maybe if I get a larger size next time and think of it as 3 servings of dessert it won't seem too bad.
