I'm a huge fan of Taharka Brothers and consistently bring out-of-town friends. One of my friends said the honey graham was the best ice cream he's ever had, and he's a big ice cream connoisseur! It's hard to pick a flavor because they are all so good. Chocolatey, fruity, innovative seasonal flavors...Taharka's got them all! If you're lactose-intolerant, Taharka has some of the most decadent, delicious flavors for you too! I've always had great experiences with service at any Taharka location (R. House, Cross Street, Broadway Market, Lexington Market) and have also had great customer service when buying pints and shipping them to the friend who thought honey graham was the absolute best. Tuesday 3/25/25 I found out about this spot on a Reddit post that was mentioning the best desserts in Maryland. I was in Baltimore so I had to go try it. The spot was hard to locate at first until I realized that it's located in the food market. I came for the popular honey graham ice cream but also for my favorite flavor: cookies n cream. Sadly, they didn't have any cookies n cream at the moment, but luckily they did have the honey graham. The service was solid: the worker was nice and I was able to sample four flavors (key lime pie, honey graham, vanilla bean, and chocolate love) without any issue. After sampling the flavors, I decided to get a triple cup of 2x honey graham and 1x vanilla bean. - The honey graham was like that (I see why it's popular). I let my mom sample it, and she enjoyed it so much that she got her own the next day. - The vanilla bean was pretty good and paired well with the honey graham. The Taharka brothers ice cream truck was parked right outside Peabody brewery during the hot sauce festival and I had to stop by! I got one scoop of the Tupac flavor which is vanilla with blackberry jam and graham cracker crumbles. It was a little heavy on the jam and I would've liked more vanilla but regardless it was very delicious! My friends tried coffee Oreo which was also wonderful. I recently went to the Taharka Brothers location at R House on a weekend and absolutely loved their ice cream! Surprisingly for a weekend, their stand was sporadically staffed, with the person behind the counter staying for five minutes maximum at a time and frequently leaving for 10-15 minutes, leaving the stand unattended. I got the caramel crunch ice cream, which was rich, creamy, full of caramel flavor and lots of crispy, crackly, chocolate covered chunks. Couldn't have been happier with my experience because in addition to the great ice cream, the young man working at Taharka that day, Jamal (I think that's what he told me), understood the assignment. I saw banana pudding ice cream and wanted it IMMEDIATELY. BUT I also wanted nuts in it. I know places like Taharka don't usually do toppings, but I asked Jamal and he said they did have some nuts. I told him I wanted the ice cream and nuts in a cup, but also wanted a waffle cone. He didn't say "Bet!" but I could see him thinking it, lol. My first experience with Taharka Brothers (which I've heard wonderful things about) was great! I went to their truck at First Thursday at Canton Waterfront Park. It was toward the end of the night and they still had plenty of flavors left which was impressive as they consistently had a long line. The staff was aware of which ice cream flavors were gluten free (which I always appreciate), and I ended up choosing the non-dairy strawberry. Ok yall...so I'm totally blaming and calling out Baltimore CM Stephanie T. for this. I saw her review of her Taharka Brothers order and me, being the ice cream lover that I am, toyed with the idea of placing an order. First it began with me placing items in my cart, imagining the possibilities but then I'd close out the order before actually going through with it. I mean really...what would I do with a whole 8 pints of ice cream?!?! Then as fate would have it, Taharka Brothers had a sale where you could get $10 off your order and that's all it took. This is not a drill! I went through with the order. Now let me be clear, TB does offer a box of four pints but honestly, you save more money by getting eight, especially if a discount is involved. Delivery went well. They text you to make sure you're home to accept delivery and then text again when they are a few minutes away. I did have one problem with my delivery though. There was a mix-up with my order and I didn't receive two of the pints that I ordered. I contacted customer service and they were able to rectify the situation by bringing me the items I did order on the next delivery date. And guess what yall? They let me keep the two pints I didn't order! So now your girl ends up with 10 pints of ice cream! Let me break down what I got... Olive Oil & Sea Salt: This is a seasonal flavor and tastes exactly like olive oil and sea salt but still has some sweetness. This was a wild card for me but I really enjoyed this flavor. Earl Grey & Honey: Another seasonal flavor. Has a tea flavor to it with some sweetness. The flavors balance really well. Caramel Snickerdoodle Sando: Seasonal flavor again. The ice cream is a salted caramel base with pieces of snickerdoodle cookies laced throughout. Yum! Yum! Yum! Coffee Oreo: This is one I did not order because I don't really care for coffee but this ice cream had a strong coffee flavor and oreo cookies in it. I guess the combo of coffee with chocolate cookies is similar to sipping a mocha. Pretty good but not my favorite because as I mentioned before, not crazy for coffee Roasted Strawberry: Forget what you knew of any other strawberry ice cream! This strawberry flavor is intense and really smacks you in the face. It's sweet, a little tart, and tastes exactly like real strawberries. Caramel Crunch: This was one of my favorites. Salted caramel ice cream with chocolate covered honeycomb toffee. I usually stay away from toffee because I don't like how it usually sticks to my teeth but this honeycomb toffee is light and airy. No uncomfortable sticking to teeth here. I received two of these in error when I was only supposed to get one. No complaints here! Golden Milk: This was a dairy-free flavor. It has a coconut milk base and tastes exactly like the popular turmeric laden drink. Key Lime Pie: Another one of my favorites and a popular TB flavor. Key lime pie is one of my favorite desserts in general and it was nice to have that in ice cream form. It's tart and sweet with yummy graham cracker swirl throughout. Honey Graham: Another fave of mine and probably Taharka Brothers' most popular flavor. Honey graham ice cream with graham cracker swirl. It was damn delicious I must say. All of Taharka Brothers' ice cream have a nice creamy consistency and just filled me with joy with each bite. Would I do it all over again? Hell yeah! Taharka Brothers is legendary. So, I had honestly never heard of them until I saw Stephanie, Yelp Baltimore CM, post about them on instagram and read her review. I love great ice cream and I couldn't resist doing a deep dive into how to get my hands on some of these AMAZING sounding pints. Their ice cream can be found in many local shops and stores, and they also offer 4- or 8-pint front door drop-offs. I was super excited that a store VERY close to me, keeps them in stock-- JACKPOT. When I arrived, I actually saw a Taharka Brother's truck parked in the lot, dropping off an order! I limited myself to only two flavors (for now) and decided on-- Chocolate Love & Caramel Crunch. They offer flavors that I would consider classics with a twist, and then more unique and interesting ones. I find it all very refreshing and exciting. The ice cream itself is deliciously creamy, full of mix-ins, and not overly sweet (just the way I like it). I had to stop myself from eating the whole pint, but I suspect that it won't last very long. Also, while I strongly believe the best ice cream flavors have a chocolate ice cream base, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved the Caramel Crunch. & if Taharka Bros are reading this, please bring back the Earl Grey Honey flavor, I NEED it in my life after reading others rave about it. For the 3rd time I bout a pint of the Honey Graham and it was more Graham chunks and swirls then there was Ice Cream. It was so rich that it got me sick. It was 75% Graham Swirls and 25% Ice Cream. After 3 times I don't think it's going to change. They probably don't even measure their ingredients. I only had One good experience with Taharka Brothers and that was about 5 years ago with The Banana Pudding Ice Cream. "Which is Only Seasonal". Haven't seen it back in stores since. I've ordered Taharka Brothers delivery a few times now and am definitely a fan! So you need to order in multiples of 8 pints and the first two times I ordered, I asked around to see if any friends wanted to split. After being in a pandemic for a while though, I decided 8 pints for my own household was fine. You can pick and choose from a variety of flavors. The first time I ordered, the ice cream was melty by the time it was delivered but this was fixed by putting it in the freezer. I think since then they've improved their logistics and haven't had a problem since. The texture is rich and creamy. My favorite flavor is their Mintflix & Chill but I got a good assortment this time around, along with some new flavors that I'm excited to try! It's easy to order online - plug in your address to see if you're within the delivery radius, then choose your flavors! Select your preferred delivery window. You receive text status updates and all of the employees are super friendly. This most recent delivery, they sold out of one of the flavors I requested so they gave me a call head of time and asked what I wanted to swap it with. Sad to write this because I love your ice cream and am a frequent customer, but I felt the need to address the customer service issues I had tonight. After standing at the front of the line for about thirty seconds (one employee was diligently staring at his phone, while the other sat on a stool and offered no assistance), I got the attention of the employee staring at his phone. He sad no words, so I awkwardly asked for a scoop of ice cream on a waffle cone. He first said they didn't have any waffle cones left (even though I saw three cones on the display. But I thought maybe these were for display only, so I didn't mention that). I instead asked for a cake cone, he said they were out and asked if a sugar cone would be okay. I said sure, and he proceeds to grab a cake cone after all? He then squished the ice cream so hard onto the cone that the top of the cone split in half, I heard a crunch. Then, it was time to pay. I put my card up to the screen to tap and pay (the employee who scooped my cone was already a few feet away staring at his phone again). The POS system was not displaying the proper screen and I felt like I was bothering the employee when I asked for help. He didn't say a word, looked annoyed, and then pressed a few buttons on the screen. By the time I finished ringing up, I looked at him and said thank you (he was already staring at his phone again) and stayed completely silent as I walked away. Now I know the service industry is hard, people have bad days, and some customers make the job unbearable, but the least your employees could do is make eye contact, ring the customer up (and stay at the POS system until the transaction is complete!), and maybe stay off their phones when they interact directly with customers.
