Based on the reviews, I gave L & D a call asking to see if they could print and bind a book in less than 6 hours for one of my college courses. Kathy answered the phone to be incredibly helpful and informative. She said it was totally possible to print in the short time frame. Later she had the graphic designer Dave call me who was patient and helped me with the optimal printing format of my file. He's incredibly knowledgeable in Adobe Illustrator which helped with ease the printing process. I headed over to the shop where spoke with Kathy and waited for Dave to finish printing the book. They mostly support businesses, but I took a chance and called them to ask if they would help me print my designs from my newly opened Etsy store (dumplingsandus) (because the FedEx near my house has terrible customer service- and that was my only option for on-demand printing). I've printed at various places around the Bay Area and L&D Printing was far one of the easiest and nicest experiences I've had in a long time. I'm a graphic designer and I made my invitations with custom paper to achieve a specific look. I called around the greater East Bay looking for a place to print on paper I purchased from a specific paper company. Place like FedEx/Kinkos and PSPrint would not print on my paper, but when I got to L&D, they were glad to do it. They were even honest and told me the best means of printing on my paper to achieve the best quality, despite it being a cheaper way of printing. When printing the proof, there were some issue with printing on my paper, but John, my rep at L&D, was dead set on finding a solution to make it work and to make the quality the best it could be. After finding a solution, John went on to print the invitations himself to ensure they were printing correctly. He even threw in a few extra prints of the invitations incase we needed a few extra. John was great and he was always quick to respond to my questions and concerns When I brought my invitations home, my finance and family were amazing by how they looked. I was very happy with my experience and especially the friendliness and the customer service I received. It's hard to find family owned and operated places like this still. Truly the kind of "small town company" you can find in a big city. These professionals love their job and you can tell. So helpful and talented, they go above and beyond what most would do. We have put them thru the ringer with 7 different bids over 6 months. They even came to our house the first time to come help us out ( we had not spent one penny with them then) and were very very patient with an indecisive graphic designer and business owner. I was in the area and needed to print 3 documents quickly. I searched Yelp and found this company with great reviews. I walked in and was kindly greeted by a nice woman who was able to print the 3 documents. She handed me the papers and explained they usually don't print small word documents but she did it for me free of charge. I felt bad that I didn't realize they do large projects since I was in a hurry to find a place to print but they gladly did it for me and free! They also gave me a paper scratchpad/notepad.
