STAY AWAY!!! LIARS AND CROOKS!!! Ryan is a liar and a crook. He ordered hoses for my power steering and charged me almost $400 for 2 (maybe 6 inch) hoses. Available on multiple websites for $50 each. Never again and I suggest you folks reading this and considering using this shop find another repair shop. I have an appointment at the local Jeep dealer next week to CONFIRM these are actually MOPAR parts which Ryan claimed to have used. Im condensing this as much as possible but PLEASE DO NOT - I REPEAT DO NOT TRUST THIS SHOP!!! YOU CANNOT SEE WHAT THEY HID TILL ITS TO LATE!!! Please message me if you'd like more details. I'll try to include everything here. But, if you have any questions contact me!! THEY ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED MY TRANSMISSION! After months of taking it back and asking them to fix it right! Over 5 times! They Blamed me saying it was my "driving habits" or "it just the way a T-5 was"! I have tons of pictures and the recording of the phone call. I paid them to rebuild my T-5 transmission on my rustomod CJ7. Took it back five and more times asking them to make it right. Finally after every single time it coming back worse or them actually acting as if I was a "Karen" I finally gave up and took it to a reputable shop, ( Transmission Medic in Kingsland, Georgia) Transmission Medic took down my transmission and called me to see what they had discovered. Broken bolts, and the Clutch I'd asked L & D to inspect was only barely holding on with loosened bolts. All of which caused catastrophic failure of my assembly which ended up literally failing out in the streets. Fortunately, I was in front of my house. It terrifies me to think of what would have happened if I'd been turning in front of someone in traffic. It would have been a wreck! And heaven forbid my grand babies would have been with me. I actually tear up thinking about how bad this could've been. They took all my money for the rebuild. They refuse to make it right and got angry when I finally caved in and took it somewhere else. Refusing to make it right. Because I took it somewhere else after the plethora of opportunities I gave them to fix it. And only getting worse after ever visit. They had my Jeep for WEEKS over a month to rebuild it and inspect the Clutch. And reassuring me the clutch "Was Great". Gears are grinding. And telling me that's normal for a T-5, leaking transmission fluid is "normal for a T-5". So the end result is a new transmission. They broke SEVERAL BOLTS and covered them with RTV. And Either didn't inspect my clutch or didn't give a crap it was holding on by a thread. I can't speculate because honestly I don't understand the why's!! Also, they added something to to transmission fluid to shut up the grinding. I can't prove what it is. Looks like transmission honey to me. But I'm untrained mechanic. A master mechanic that inspected the fluid confirmed my suspicions. ALSO- when they had my transmission down for the "rebuild" when they put it back together with my transfer case they broke bolts on my transfer case taking it apart I'm assuming during the rebuild. They put it back together with the broken bolts covering those with RTV too ( see pictures and videos) From what I understand the previous owner did great work. which would explain the reviews prior to mine. I'm hoping by taking time to write this I save someone like me who doesn't have the money to throw away sees this and I can stop this from happening to someone else. I was attending a funeral in Kingsland when I had some car trouble. I stopped in and told them the situation and they put me at the top of the priority list and let me and my teenage daughter sit in the lobby while they tried to figure it out. Ryan was kind and answered all of my questions (which was alot) I told him I had been working on some of the problems for quite a while. He and his guys tested and retested, and I am pretty sure they found the problem. I did have to leave so they put everything back together the way it was, and the car drove so much better when I left. Still not 100% done but I am hopeful when I go back, they will be able to fix it no problem. Price was outrageously FAIR because it was so so hot outside, and they did not give up for hours. I have now taken two cars there for transmission work. The first I pulled the transmission and brought it to them for a bench rebuild. I reinstalled the transmission and brought it to them two weeks later for a checkup. They found a coolant line leak which they repaired while I waited. 3 years later and close to 100k miles the car is still doing good. So when my wifes car's transmission when out it was a no brainer who would do the work. Well this one didn't go a smoothly. They had the car two weeks the first time and rebuild the transmission. 4 days after picking it up, it started doing the same thing I brought it in for. Two weeks later they still couldn't find the root cause, but they stood by the warrantee and installed a GM remanufactured unit at no cost to me. In the end it took longer than I would have liked, and if my wife and I didn't both work from home and had a second vehicle it might have been a lot more frustrating, but in the end they made it right. Honest and reliable and I will be back if I ever need transmission work again. read more

When my car ran badly, I called my Florida Tires Plus dealer for local help in Georgia. Their assistance led me to L&D Transmissions when the tire agent said, "They just rebuilt the transmission on my son's truck". A quick road test told us both that I was using two of four gears in the car. Further examination proved the need for repairs. The parts were brought in by courier first thing the next morning, and we were on our way by noon, just as promised. At exactly the cost as the estimate. While we sat in the comfortable waiting area, we watched folks come in for estimates or for minor work. Each one was treated with care and respect. When we left, we were delighted with Larry Dempsey's work as the car slipped seamlessly between gears and the gas mileage improved a lot. If I ever needed a transmission specialist, I would think of L&D first. read more

L&D rebuilt my transmission in 2018. Make sure you ask what that means. On 2022, my transfer started making ridiculous noise. They put me off for a week. They then took two weeks to replace a chain. After finally getting it back, I was stranded in Nahunta with a front seal that they didn't put in properly. I got it back after a week and the 1st time I used the 4wd, it was making the same noise. After paying for a chain I didn't need, I took it back to them. They kept it for another two weeks to diagnose a bearing and front shaft. They charged me another $275 for parts, no labor. I got it back and the wiring was messed up and it didn't run right. They kept it anther weekend. When I got it back now my odometer display didn't work correctly. I decided to just deal with it. Now after just 3rd use of the 4wd since they replaced the shaft, the same noise came back. I don't know what they have done at this point. One can only discern from his experience they are either incompetent or dishonest. I also had them rebuild my rear end. So far no problems, but I expect I'll he dealing with that soon enough. The tranny on my 1998 Jaguar XJ8 just quit on me one afternoon. Larry assisted me in finding the correct one for my car and I had it shipped to them. He found me one from a reputable dealer with a good warranty, had it shipped to his shop and installed it the day it arrived so I could be back on the road ASAP. Being that I live in Jacksonville, FL, 49 miles away from their shop, having that kind of service was paramount to my using them (first time). The pricing was unbeatable, and service fantastic. Side note...they waited for me to pick up my car almost an hour after they closed on a Friday. We all left the shop together in the same direction. I needed gas, and when I stopped, they apparently saw me and called me on my cell to make sure everything was okay! Wow, now that impressed me. I would recommend them highly. read more

They had our truck for 2 months so they could fix a bunch of stuff. Larry had my husband order the part needed for the new carb (because he couldn't use his own card for some reason), twice, because the first one wasn't the right one. When I went to get the truck, the only thing that had been done was the carb hook up and the manifold. Nothing else got done "because they didn't have time". Even though we had all the parts they needed. Brakes, exhaust, alignment, tune up.. A bunch of little stuff like a replacement door handle etc wasn't done. Then, we ship it to our new house across country, and the first time we drive it, the throttle cable pops right out of the carb. So not only did they not do most of the stuff we asked them to, what they did do was crap. They knew we were moving, so I guess they knew we couldn't just bring it back. And everyone's attitude there was awful. The only nice thing they did was allow us to leave the truck there for a week until the shipping company could get it.. But they kinda had to, since it wasn't very drivable. read more

I towed my older car to Tire Kingdom detailing the issue. They told me the engine was shot and charged $80. However, their explanation didn't make sense so I walked next door to L&D Transmission to ask for a second opinion. They pushed the car their shop and determined it was a minor electrical issue and it cranked right up. Their prices are reasonable unlike others in the area, their work is reliable and they understand customer service. I won't go any where else now.
