The first guy gave us a great $ Price $ quote, sadly he was not insured (um, huge red flag to me, anything to happen we would be at fault, or a grey area, and I dont need to deal with a grey area , someone getting hurt, and or lawsuits if it came to it. The other guys $ price $ ranged was close , just a few thousand dollars apart ish. But a few thousand is a few thousand, We are a budget family, only have one provider, my wife, I am on full Disability, so I try to help her with any thing I can, sometimes it hard due to my chronic pain, really takes it out of it, but she is Amazing.. ANYWAYS, back to this ROOF. lol "Davis Roofing", It came down to what ive researched , I narrowed it to 2 companies, "Davis Roofing" . I am very grateful that they took those massive boards/beams out, since they were really warp, so they replaced them, looks great like nothing happened or wasnt repaired. No charge , it was in our quote , so Im guessing they do that for all there customers, and part of there bussiness model , which is awsome and doesnt throw a wrench into the operation of the roof, and extra fees that is already expsive enough, lol... They really want to earn your business. And trust me they go the extra Mile for you. I could go on about there company and met with the owner, nice guy.. He doesn't sub-out the roof work or employ multiple crews at once, like some. 3) Bid came in @ a thousand cheaper than other local roofers EXTRA TOUCHS 1) replaced fascia, drip edge, and shingles on a little overhang over our Kitchen window that I didn't consider part of the building's roof, but was greatly appreciated. 2) Spray painted all vents and exhaust stacks to match the roof decore so they blended in 3) Re-attached a solar security light and screwed it into a metal roof vent so that it didn't create another roof penetration. 4) Used leaf blower to disperse all sand/grit from all rain gutters and back patio. Diego's wife, Mindy was quick to respond via e-mail to all inquiries. They showed up each day on time and completed work on schedule despite a 3-day weekend. The tear off crew that tore off the old roof tarped off all bushess, garage door, and front porch. They moved deck chairs and BBQ out of the way. They even performed some light tree trimming (which was a bonus) in order to give themselves enough room to work. I appreciated this, because it will actually make my yard maintenance easier in the fall. They swept up all debris and I have yet to find a single stray nail or staple around my property. Diego Lopez communicated all start and stop times. Asked special permission to show up at 7AM in order to avoid the afternoon heat. Something that I appreciated because my 4yr. old doesn't like surprise noises. As mentioned, Diego rebuilt the fascia boards, drip edge, and shingles over a small overhang outside our Kitchen window - an extra that I don't recall being listed on the work order but was appreciated even though it was not technically part of the building's roof. On the last day, Diego's crew used a magnetic mop to catch any stray nails and used a leaf blower to disperse any grit/sand. I called to get an estimate and was assisted by Alejandro. He scheduled a date that worked best for me to come out for an estimate. On the day of the appointment, Alejandro kept me informed on when he was arriving. Once he arrived, he asked all the questions and started the necessary inspections. He inspected every inch of the roof and even used a drone to help. He itemized everything that needed to be addressed and broke them down into sections with estimates listed next to them. Based on the inspections, he identified there was moss present that needed removal, few shingles were damanged, gutters were detached, etc. He took many before photos of what he identified that needed to be addressed. He went through each item with me very thoroughly. I decided to hire them on the spot. He said his crew can come out the next day. They require a 10% deposit. On the day of the project, his crew showed up promptly. They got straight to work. The project took around 4.5 hours long to finish. After they were done, they sent me the after photos with the invoice. The roof looks brand new after the cleaning. I am so glad I found them on Yelp. They appeared to be working harder and faster than any other roofing crew I had seen, and they got the job done in 3 or 4 days instead of the typical 5. When I got a letter from my home insurance company stating that they would cancel me if I didn't get a new roof (the same thing has happened to most of my neighbors, I suspect), I called Alex Perez Roofing, plus two other companies for comparison. Alex himself came out, and he spent a long time talking to me and my partner about the job. He answered all of our questions. He didn't have a slick sales presentation like the other two roofing companies that we called. As a former roofer himself, he was more focused on explaining the dynamics and the work of the job, rather than trying to get us to agree to a a top-tier "premium roof package." Unsurprisingly, his bid came in lower than the other two companies I called. In an apples-to-apples comparison (50 year warranty, special venting at the top of the roof line) his company had the best value.
