Old wood shake roof before replacement
    Vicki L.

When requesting an estimate for a new roof replacement, the owner, Alex, met with my husband and I. He answered all our questions, helped us stay within our budget and gave us a fair quote. Alex and his crew worked quickly and professionally, and maintained communication with us every step of the way. The roof turned out beautiful and was completed in 5 days. I highly recommend Alex Perez's Roofing!

Alex and his crew are fantastic. Alex came out to meet with us and provide a bid for a new roof. He was so personable, knowledgeable and well prepared. He answered all of our questions and had pictures of previous jobs to share with us. His crew arrived each day on time and left everything clean at the end of each work day. There was great communication from his staff during the entire process. There was one error when it came to replacing our gutters (color) and once Alex became aware, he took care of it immediately. Alex's bid was a bit higher than another and we still chose to hire him for the job. You get what you pay for! We are very happy with the final results and would absolutely recommend Alex and his crew.

Dry rot damage from previous solar equipment on the roof.
    Ryan R.

We had Alex and his crew come out 7 months ago to do some seamless gutters for our home. We needed some time to get financing squared away before we tackled the entire roof repair. Our house is roughly 2,400 square feet, and is a single story home with a very steep roof. This basically means we have more square footage to cover. Needless to say, since Alex's crew did such an amazing job on the gutters I reached out for a quote on the roof. I won't go into pricing details because everyone's homes are different and there could be extenuating circumstances that vary from home to home, but his quote was the most reasonable and based off previous quality of work I had zero trouble deciding. They were able to get me a start date within 2 weeks, and the day of demo his crew was on time and prepared. They had everything covered and had the old roof removed within one day. Some of the tiles were so old they had moss on them (see photos). The following day they found some dry rot damage from previously installed solar panels and had that taken care of the same day. The install itself took about a day and a half, and his crew was amazing. Every day the yard was cleaned up if there was any debris and in the mornings before they started they let us know they were about to work. Small details like adding channels to high flow areas, and venting on the roof to let trapped heat escape were also appreciated. With the weather getting worse in the winters it's a relief to have the roof replaced, and not too mention, looking amazing. Alex and Rony's crew are amazing to work with and hire. Very professional, and friendly. Any questions were addressed in a timely manner. Start to finish (with county inspection) was 4 days. Highly recommended. ***I've attached quite a few photos because I was interested in the process (nerd) and I wanted to share with anyone potentially thinking of getting thier roof done what it looks like as its done.***

I wanted to use my previous roofer who did the other half but he went completely dark on me, so I found 5 Star Roofing. Before the job: Michael came out quickly to provide the bid which was competitive and clearly explained the process. He was able to schedule me in quicker than the competition and provided excellent communication before the work started. During the job: His team arrived on time each day, did excellent work, and were even able to match the color of the other half of the roof exactly. Each day, Michael came by to check on the work and answer my questions. Jenn, the office/project manager emailed each day as well. The crew cleaned up after themselves and made minimal disturbance while they worked. Josh even came out the next week to do some additional work we requested. Final results: We could not be happier. The work looks great and seamlessly matches the other half. Alas, on the scheduled day and time, nobody showed up, and nobody contacted me. I called the office, and Jada said my job was not on their calendar. After she gave me multiple excuses for why Brian failed to show up "for my estimate", it was clear that they had scheduled another estimate and not the actual repair work, and then they didn't even show up for that. I would not recommend using this company.

For anyone needing to replace their HVAC we thought we'd share our experience…read more After spending $$$$ trying to repair ours and still having problems, we decided it was time to replace it. The search was on for a company. (Spoiler alert: We chose Harlan Quality Home Services and are very happy we did.) We decided to get bids from 4 companies that were highly rated. 1. "A"--they had tried to repair our old unit so thought we'd try them for a replacement. They came out to give an estimate. Said they'd send a bid to us and we never heard from them again. 2. "F" Family---Submitted a bid (approx $17K--for a unit actually too big for our house) which we had some questions about. Called the office to get clarification and they were rude saying we had misunderstood, even though we questioned the salesman multiple time. Also, they wanted to install extra unneeded items. 3. "A" man--Gave bid while here (almost $25K but with "discounts" it was lowered to $19K+). Offered another $500 discount if we had it installed in 2 days and bid was only good for 3 days. Fast talking and pushy. Wanted to install a 2nd return in our living room rather than enlarge the one in the hall. Again included things not needed and unit too big for our house. Also, all their units are their "brand" with their name on them rather than the manufacturer so who knows what you're getting. 4. "R's"--Offered 3 different brands, ranging in price from $16K+ to $18K+....again units too big for us. Other than that they sounded like they knew what they were doing. We had almost decided to go with "R" when we saw on Nextdoor about Harlan Quality Home Services ---a BIG thank you to whoever posted that. Harlan had replaced our roof last year and we were very happy with them and didn't realize they did HVAC as well. (Apparently they had just started offering HVAC services when the brother Marshal decided to "merge" his business with his brother James.) Called Harlan and Marshal came out to give an estimate. Listened to what we wanted, patiently answered all our questions and said he'd send us a bid. He also said he'd send the crane company out to make sure they could get the unit on the roof because of our large trees. All other companies just looked at trees and said oh no problem. Turns out we had to get our trees trimmed for the crane to work so if we'd gone with the other companies, when the crane showed up they would not have been able to reach our roof. We received Harlan's bid (almost $14K) promptly for a unit the correct size for our home. They didn't include any unnecessary items but just everything needed: permits, crane, enlarge intake, etc. Plus they would install a unit that would fit our existing curb so it didn't have to be modified. Not only was Harlan's bid what we wanted and having been very satisfied doing business with the company in the past, we accepted their bid. They were great about setting up an installation date that was convenient for us. On that day, our new unit was delivered early and Marshal and his assistant, Juan, began work. They were amazing. Everything went so smoothly and quickly with Marshal concentrating on the roof and Juan concentrating on the work in the house. Everything went like clockwork. They disconnected the old unit and the crane showed up to remove it and set the new unit on the roof. Recycler came to pickup old unit and assorted debris. They reconnected everything, tested it and Title 24 inspector came and did his test. Everything completed (except for county inspection) in approximately 1/2 a day. After they finished they cleaned the areas---inside (where they had cut sheetrock) and out so you couldn't even tell they had been here, except for all the new stuff. If we have one complaint it's that they are too efficient and hardworking. We wanted to save a couple of small things but they disappeared on the recycling truck before we knew it. Our fault for not asking ahead of time. We can't rave enough about the Harlan company for both roofing and HVAC. Everyone at the company is so polite and friendly no matter how many annoying questions you ask. They are very experienced, and do exceptional work; very quickly with no drama, wasted effort and minimal noise. And all this at the lowest price of all the bids we received. Harlan Quality Services is definitely Number 1 in our opinion and we highly recommend them for any roofing or HVAC needs. What a stroke of luck for us discovering they do HVAC right when we needed someone.

We hired Harlan Quality Roofing, Inc for a roof replacement that included chimney saddle and step…read moreflashing work. Shortly after completion, we experienced a significant leak near the chimney during a controlled water test. We repeatedly asked for photo/video documentation of the original water testing and requested a controlled retest after additional sealant was applied to the flashing and chimney areas. This was never provided. Because sealant was added after the initial test, it became impossible to determine how the flashing system performed in its original installed condition. Despite our requests for a documented and isolated testing process, the issue was attributed solely to stucco and chase cap conditions without verification of the flashing work included in our contract. Communication became increasingly dismissive when we asked reasonable, technical questions about how the leak source was isolated and verified, and the matter was pushed toward final inspection without the testing we requested. We also had concerns about billing transparency during dry rot repairs. We had to repeatedly request documentation showing where repairs were made, how many hours were spent on new work versus items already included in the original contract, and how labor time was calculated (including delivery and travel time billed at the same rate as on-site repair work). The initial invoices and explanations were vague, and only after multiple follow-ups did we receive partial clarification and a small credit for duplicated labor hours. While the company was responsive in replying to emails, we were left to identify gaps in documentation, testing, and billing ourselves rather than being provided clear, proactive transparency. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend that future customers insist on detailed documentation, clear labor breakdowns, and controlled verification testing when leak diagnosis or change-order billing is involved.

I have done a lot of work over the years and am happy to say that if you live in this area, he is your guy. He was fair and honest from the get go. The price he gives you is the price you will pay. I never received any surprise "change orders". As contractors go, Omar was VERY open and communicative. No problems ever getting him or his crew on the phone. He had great suggestions on all things we discussed. Always seemed to know a lot about his work and various things people like. The project was a big one, and I am super happy with how fast it went. He even got started for us over Thanksgiving and Xmas, and his crew would show up on Saturday or Sunday sometimes to keep on working (which was fine with us!). There were no subcontractors involved... everything was through Noor Construction. If we had any minor issues that needed correcting, Omar would come and look at it and tell his crew what to do. We really appreciate the details, crown molding and trim was superbly done, and the tile was just amazing, we are very impressed with his team. I mean seriously anyone who has attempted to do crown molding in the past knows what I am talking about. For details if you've made it this far, our story: Where shall I start. I suppose we start with the idea: build a bedroom in the second floor space of our "great room" which has really tall ceilings... like 30 feet plus. So basically add a bedroom in the second story "empty space" above the first floor. Easy right? Well, after getting ghosted by several contractors, I finally called Omar. He informed he thought we were probably getting ghosted because the architect had told him that footings were needed to support this new bedroom which would be sort of like an island in the middle of the house. We live on a hill, so these support columns would have to go through the first floor, basement, and then under the house. This added to the cost, but we really wanted a bedroom in that space. Omar gave me a price. I told him no thanks, my wife and I thought well maybe we changed our mind as the cost came in higher with the footing work. After a few weeks, we talked it over, changed our minds. We really needed the bedroom. I called him, thinking "gosh he probably won't want our work". Omar came back, no change in price, same deal as before, he didn't even bat an eye, he was ready to go, and this was like 4 weeks later after I told him no. So yea, it was project that I was told was too much for people, everyone didn't want to go get permits or deal with the footings... Omar told us what to expect and stuck to the plan. He dealt with the County and the inspector always came and said even himself "these guys know what they are doing". We passed all inspections. Omar even was super flexible about adding things to the project as we went along, as you know I get ideas about what I might want, we added some carpeting and shelving, and additional tile work that he added at no additional cost to him. He really just knows what he is doing and is super on top of things. So go with Noor Construction if you have the chance, you won't regret it!

I was interested in adding panels to my existing older solar roof panels. My panels are working well, but I could use more power. Was also interested on behalf of my daughter who wanted extra panels after adding an EV and hot tub. After a couple of tel/cons with Diego, we determined in both our cases, it would not be worth adding additional panels because our True-ups were not high enough annually to warrant a system purchase. We had an extensive discussion about the fact that there are no more perks or discounts to install solar and things have just gotten more expensive over the last year, with loss of rebates, etc. Diego was very honest that in both of our cases, the cost of upgrading our mutual systems was not worth the money it would cost. I truly appreciated his honesty as he talked himself out of not one job but two. Highly recommend this company for both staff customer service in getting to me quickly, speaking to me extensively twice and Diego's honesty in being upfront about in our case, the bang just not being worth the buck.
