I needed a complete reroofing of my house and got three quotes to evaluate. I chose American Cool Construction to do the job. The Owner/Contractor David Saruhanov came out to meet me and discuss the project. He offered much more than the other two bids I got and he was very specific of the job they would do. What was most important to me was the warrantees, which he offered 25 year warranty for workmanship, and 50 warranty from GAF for any materials that should not hold up. The other two proposals only offered either a 7 year or 10 year warranty. I had a very good feeling when discussing the project with David that he would deliver what he said. And that is exactly what happened. I would highly recommend anyone needing roof repairs, new roofs, or reroofs, to check out The American Cool Construction Company. I worked with Orli, the PM. She is really great from coming immediately to do the estimate and assessment to follow up on the job. I needed a roof repair, solar panels had to come down first. Tesla removed the panels, when I knew the date they would come, American Cool scheduled me for the work the next day. All went smoothly. We decided to go with American Cool Construction because of their pricing and their good reviews on Yelp. The work was estimated to start on October 9th but they didn't actually start until October 18th which was fine. There was a downpour of rain on Sunday Oct 22nd that started around 1:30pm. Th roof was still a work in progress, but it was covered with tarp yet. The foreman did come about 15-20 minutes before the rain started but it was already too late. Our roof was completely leaking. From what was visible, it was leaking in our master bedroom, second bedroom, attic crawl space, attic storage area and our garage. The foreman eventually finished covering the roof but did not have enough tarp to cover everything. The rain eventually stopped but started again later that night and the section of the house that was not covered continued to leak water into our attic/garage. We expressed our concern about the damage that the water may have caused. We were told to just let the water dry out and that they would take care of everything after the roof was completed. We showed them videos of the rain leaking into the house and did a walk through to show the damaged that the water leaks caused. Water was leaking in our master bedroom from the ceiling air vent, and the window because water was just running down the front fascia of the house between the gutter and room because it wasn't properly covered. The area around the window is soaked with water and is now soft to the touch. Our 2nd bedroom was also leaking water from the ceiling air vent and onto our carpet. From our interactions with the company representatives, it seemed like they were not that concerned with the damage caused by the roof leak. I even called their office and they said a supervisor would call me but all they did was contact the person that was in charge of the project. There was no sense of urgency on getting the problems fixed and absolutely nothing was done to clean up any of the water. I spent hours drying and cleaning in our attic storage area. I also had to clean trash left in our backyard by the roofers. On Nov 2nd, they sent someone out to replace most of the insulation that got wet in our garage and attic but did not do anything about the garage ceiling drywall that now has water spots all over. Nothing else was fixed/addressed enough though we expressed our concerns multiple times of the other problems. On Friday Nov 3rd, I asked again if anything was going to be done about other damages, and they said they will take care of it and I still haven't heard anything from them. It's now Thursday Nov 9th. Update: American Cool Construction owner and a representative reached out to address our concerns and have been extremely responsive. read more

My house problem: Tenant had reported there was some unusual leaking that has cause mold to grow in one of the garage's drywall. I had my normal reliable handyman to fix it several times, but the leak continued after another rainy seasoned. Eventually, it got worse and I couldn't be sure if a patch work roof would fix it. The only way was to remove all the roof tiles and replaced it. The roof was nearing it's lifetime so it was a good time to shop around. I shopped for different quotes. One placed said 18k, Tom from American Cool Construction quoted me for 14k.1k. I went with Tom as I was an out of the city landlord. Tom was on top of most communication via text, phone calls, and sent me Drone pictures of progress and updates. He handled all the permits and worked with the city without me lifting an additional finger. This was helpful to monitor from long distance until the final inspection when I came up in person to inspect the work. The whole project took about week to be completed. I found American Cool Construction after a tree fell on my roof in Feb 2024. I got multiple quotes from different vendors and while ACC wasn't the cheapest, their offering as far as quality (50 year warranty on the roof) and price made me choose them. My experience with this company has been top notch and 5 star since the beginning of work. My project manager Guy came out and assessed the work quickly and thoroughly. He explained the full scope of the work needed and gave a fair quote. During the project they identified parts of my insurance quote that were lacking (my insurance quoted for substandard supplies and below code materials) and worked with them to get me more money based on the increased costs. The work was completed on time and beautifully, and I was misquoted on the number of downspouts (new gutters) and ACC and Guy did the additional work WITHOUT increasing my cost due to their error. This was a great customer experience for me and made me feel very good about selecting ACC as the company for my project. Before this happened my wife and I had already talked about painting the house and ACC also offered this as a service. We reviewed the state of the house and decided that with the rot and weather damage of the house it would be best to do siding all the way around also. I again got quotes and reviews from other vendors, only this time ACC and Guy came in at roughly HALF THE COST of most competitors. This work was completed with the same speed, quality, and detail as the roof and my wife and I were more than pleased. (Dec2023-Jan2024) This will get lengthy but I'm sharing my experience bc when it comes to a roofing decision it is not cheap. ACC was one of 4 companies contacted for a quote. Them and one other company were the only ones to actually come out to do an estimate. Yan, the Project Manager, did our estimate and went over all the details of the roof replacement including gutters and including materials that would be used and the benefits of those materials. Yan provided a good amount of details including warranty info so you know what to look for and ask other companies when doing comparisons. What I liked is that although they're trying to sell you (as they all are) they are not pushy about it. The second quote I received came in less than ACC by a fair amount for one to understandably opt for the lesser but I reached out to Yan and shared the other company's quote. He reviewed it, asked questions, and revised his quote mainly on the gutters estimate, and although the new quote was better it was still higher than the other company. I chose ACC (why else am I writing this?) but it ultimately came down to being given a quicker start date and the rapport with Yan. Everything went smooth to start; the final quote, contract, deposit payment, and the materials selection with their Production Manager, Jenin. Weather did play a factor with a bit of rain coming in but that was expected given the season. Once they found an opportunity with the weather, they called and scheduled a start date with about a 4 day window to complete it. I agreed to the dates but then the start ended up delayed anyway bc of weather changes and scheduling an inspector but again, I wasn't worried. (Some in-between stuff came up which I'll include in its own paragraph). When the day finally arrived they were on it and quick! The roof was removed, rot was replaced, and the new roof was coming together all in day 1. I was impressed. Day 2 it was pretty much done, however, it did fail inspection bc more eave vents were called for but ACC took care of it that same day. When the inspector came back after the weekend it passed. Yan shared photos and info during the process as this was all being done while I was at work so I appreciated that. I was thoroughly satisfied with the communication and roof work so why 4 stars instead of 5? -Leading up to the demo, a gentleman from ACC called to get extra measurements which I was fine with but while he was on the roof he must have loosed our water heater atmospheric vent bc it was no longer connected at the water heater after he left. I let them know in which the owner reached out to apologize and said they would return to put it back in place. They even added some extra materials to it during the roof replacement. -I assumed the trim boards being replaced would be painted but that's my fault not asking due to lack of knowledge. Now you know to ask! -It didn't seem like the workers doing the demo had been properly communicated as they were asking if the gutters were coming off. -They cleaned up really good for the most part but I did find a mushy half eaten sandwich and a couple soda cans in the yard along with cigarette butts everywhere. There were also some nails in the driveway which would suck to get a flat tire parking in your own driveway. Our garage has some nice new marks on it too. See photos. -The overhang or eaves have nails going through all around the house. Not aesthetically pleasing since we don't have soffit. See photos. Another thing to keep in mind to ask about if you're looking to get a new roof. I think that's all I have for now. This process was completely new to me but Yan was able to answer the questions I had and provide his own extra details. Jenin was awesome and pretty much answered any time you called. We had our roof and gutters replaced in July 2022. Their price was about mid-range among the other companies we received quotes from. Although we are on a tight budget, we opted to pay a little more for good communication and a thorough job. The quote itself was well detailed and specific about what work would be performed and why. The materials used were good quality, they also replaced all existing vents and installed additional vents. Very good communication beginning with the quote process and all through the project David, Cesar and the crew were responsive to any of our texts, phone calls or questions. They addressed any issues we had as they worked, taking the time to listen to our concerns and fixing small things here and there. Things that may seem like small details, but to us as the home owners and paying customers, we were happy that they took the time and care to address these issues. Some examples include painting a hard to reach area on the fascia that we couldn't reach, replacing old wood on the decking and eaves that I requested, they even added some bracing to one of the posts that holds up the structure of the house. The crew members were very respectful of our yard and house the whole time. They even covered our pool to save it from falling debris and they left the yard fairly clean. They finished the job in 5-6 days and we have security knowing they provide a 10 year warranty on workmanship. All payment transactions were simple as well. After living with the new roof for a couple of months, we're very happy. The new gutters look so much better and are configured for a minimal look, but efficient functionality.
