This facility is a sham and a scam. Not sure what happened, because reviews from 2+ years ago were fine. No one is maintaining the facility, and it's impossible to reach anyone to close your account. This place is a rip off and that ate overcharging customers I am an existing customer and can not get my things out of the storage unit. Manger and/or the District Manger will not return any call or request tried to make payments several times and acct is restricted payments via kiosk and via customer service supervisor stated the system is not accepting my credit card payments. Company continues to charge late payments they are a trifling company don't rent from them talking rom experience.They are overcharging customers. FYI. Avoid this storage facility at all costs. After over 5 years as a paying customer, I'm shocked at the level of negligence and poor service I experienced here. I finally vacated my unit and feel compelled to warn others before they fall into the same trap. Here's what you should know before renting here: * No communication when billing fails. My credit card stopped being charged and I received zero notice--no email, no call, no mailed statement. I only found out my belongings were at risk of being auctioned by accident. * No one is ever onsite. The location is never staffed during posted business hours. There is no one to help if you need anything. * The payment kiosk is broken. You can't make payments at the location even if you wanted to. It's been non-functional for months. * Their phone system is misleading. When you call, it sounds like the line hangs up mid-call. Only if you stay on the line (by sheer luck) do you realize the call is still connected. Totally confusing and unacceptable. * The facility is not secure. The security gate is always open--no code needed to enter. Anyone can walk in, which is a major safety concern. * Management is unresponsive. I've contacted John Doonan multiple times since April about my account and auto-pay setup. No return calls. No follow-up. Nothing. The service here is unprofessional at best and shady at worst. They almost auctioned off my belongings due to theirbilling error--and never owned up to it. I've seen similar stories on Reddit and now understand why. Do yourself a favor: choose another storage facility. There are plenty of reputable options where your belongings will be safe, communication is clear, and staff are actually available. You'll be a fool to put your belongings in L and L storage. Rats ate through my boxes. I had to repair 2 tires and replace 1, due to the screws and nails on their lot. On several occasions I've found wet spots in my storage container. Pay the extra $5 - $10 for a better location. If you're trying to save money by using L and L storage, you'll be paying for it with damaged belongings in the long run. This place is by far the absolute worst piece of shit company I have ever had to work with! 1) They're NEVER around 2) Their website to pay doesn't work and tries to overcharge you by almost $100! 3) Their kiosk is completely useless and does not work either. 4) You try to call these clowns, not a single fucking human available to speak to. 5) When you call you have to leave a voicemail, instead of talking to a human. 6) They call back BUT they leave a useless voicemail that doesn't pertain to your issue or concern whatsoever. They leave you with a voicemail to call them back, just to leave another voicemail. 7) You can't pay your bill because none of their forms of payment work? Guess what, you're shit out of luck! They lock up your bin, and keep your belongings! 8) To try to get a hold of the owner, I had to call the cops...guess what? They sold the place and didn't tell anyone! It is now owned by Doolen Realty, and they're useless as well! It's been a month or two since I've been able to pay my bill, racking up hundreds of dollars in late fees, because these scumbags can't be bothered to physically meet you there in person to help you!! 9) Lastly, their number changed to Doolen Realty at (315) 867-6141 but they won't tell you that...the cop had to hunt them down and get this info for me. The unit I had leaked all through the winter and didn't notice until afterwards because it was jam packed full of stuff. The owner NEVER plows the allies between units so we had to drudge through snow and ice. And when it rains, the units have ponds in front of them a couple inches deep. I also started renting on the 29th of a month. And instead of tossing in 2 free days, he prorated me to pay the 2 days. So much for the holiday spirit. There is a far better storage unit a few doors down that is way better kept. Yes the price may be the cheapest around but clearly there's a reason for that one. read more
