This is a good small discount store sitting in busy Hyde Park center…read more I LOVE dollar stores. What I don't really like is when store's use the word "dollar" in their name, but DON'T sell everything in the store for one dollar or less. For instance, "Family Dollar" (which, ironically, is RIGHT next door to this store) doesn't sell everything for a dollar, and previous stores I used to go to (Dollar Plus in Dedham, Dollar Plus in Walpole, both of which have closed). Anyway, this store isn't a dollar store, but thankfully didn't call themselves it. I had to do a double-take to realize the actual name of the store. It's really called "Super Discount Store". In the past, driving by, and until today I thought it said "Super Dollar Store". Anyway, this store is great. It has some of the best discounts around and a great stock of everything. I have one major complaint. The smell of the store. When walking into anywhere, it should smell great, or at least passable. I didn't notice if they sold any air fresheners, but if they do they should spray some around, and if not, management should walk next door to Family Dollar and buy one for the store, the Febreze "spring" edition would be nice. Anyhow, this stores best variety is clothing. They have good clothing at reasonable prices, and an extra large selection of "Boston" wear, and summer sandals. Other than that, all of the departments are mostly pretty good. The storage and container department was a bit overpriced, but other than that, everything from medical to toys to office supplies was all priced well and had a good, decent inventory. The lady working was friendly, kind, seemed to be working hard to keep the store clean (good employee!). Overall, this is a good discount store that I will be coming back to and purchasing more from. 4 stars.

I had pleasant interactions with both the cashier and with the sole gentleman customer service representative at Ocean State Job Lot on this visit. It was early afternoon on a work day, so the patrons were light, yet there were several stations open (3-4) and lines were 0-1 person deep. It was a whole different story, however, at the Customer Service desk. The line numbered 3, so I decided to make my purchases first, then check back in for my exchange. It was a different line up of customers by then, but I was #4 in queue. Poor Brian was the only rep behind the desk, and he also had to multitask helping out the other cashiers with their issues. I think I spotted the manager mulling about, and thought that it would be really nice if he were to jump on in to help thin out our line since the cashiers weren't trained for the task even though by then they were pretty free of customers. But nope. But Brian was personable, apologizing for the wait and thanking us for our patience. 4 stars for Brian and the gal who rang me up. 3 stars for the store on this January 2019 visit.

I've always purchased my beach chairs from job lot and find myself having to replace them in a couple of years, but this is ridiculous! I'm done with Job Lot and all the junk they sell. It was a chaotic environment to work in, there was no level of respect or professionalism from management. It was to the point that if I made a mistake I was being belittled and cursed at and told "You're f***ing stupid!" by management. People are only hired here to be paid and walk out, and management has no problem with it either as they don't show any effort to fix the professionalism while they act the same way towards their own employees and customers. It was upon my decision that I decided to quit and telling my manager that I was quitting he just hung up the call on me. I do not in any way recommend that this place has any people considering to work here and any considering to buy here.
