I've eyed Recreo for a while and stopped in with a friend to visit, and we were so impressed! We got a pumpkin latte and a lavender matcha, the latter of which is on their summer menu. They knocked both out of the park - so flavorful and delicious! We both tend to prefer sweeter drinks, but we had a perfect balance of flavor with our coffee/matcha. My friend also got a mixed berry scone, which was solid as well but he found it to be a little dry. I would definitely look forward to trying a pastry in the future - I was eyeing their cookies, but wasn't feeling it that morning. I am so happy I live so close and will definitely be back! The baristas were all so kind and personable - in addition to making great drinks, they truly connected with each customer and everyone seemed so happy to be there. We sat inside with all the pollen outside, but the outdoor patio nearby was ADORABLE. Makes sense that it was full when we got there!

We returned hoping we would have the same positive experience as the day before. When we approached the register, two employees were standing together talking. We stood directly in front of the register for about five minutes, waiting to place our order. During that time, neither employee greeted us, acknowledged our presence, or said something as simple as, "We'll be right with you." The older employee remained leaned over the counter, continuing her conversation while casually writing on the countertop instead of acknowledging us or taking our order. The younger employee looked in our direction several times, and it appeared she wanted to help us, but the conversation continued. After waiting several minutes without any acknowledgment, we decided to leave. As we were walking out, a white customer entered the bakery and was enthusiastically welcomed by the older employee with a cheerful, "Hello, welcome." That contrast was upsetting and made us feel overlooked and unwelcome. While I cannot know the employees' intentions, the difference in how we were treated left us questioning whether race played a role in our experience. It was especially disappointing because we had enjoyed our visit the day before and returned expecting the same welcoming atmosphere. No customer should feel invisible when entering a business. A simple greeting or acknowledgment would have made all the difference. I hope you will take this complaint seriously, review what occurred, and remind your staff of the importance of treating every customer with the same level of courtesy, respect, and professionalism.

It was a few minutes before 1PM and most of their baked goods were sold out which is a good sign especially on a random weekday. I am a sucker for Orange flavored pastries and baked goods so immediately went for the Orange Ricotta Cake and it was moist and lightly sweetened, although it could've had a bit more Orange and a bit bigger considering it's about $6 (before tip). I do hate how there's no way to place an order online/ahead of time, though: there seems to be a broken link on their website that hasn't worked for years, which means you either have to call ahead (ew, annoying on both sides) or go in and place the order at the bar and wait (OK if you have time to kill I guess).
