When you walk in here you can immediately sense an undercurrent of despair. It's hard not to feel sad for the state of affairs related to US consumerism on many levels which helps create such a glut of second rate merchandise. With that said, I have a like-hate relationship with this place because there are those times I am pleased enough to buy a few things for not much money. Have I rescued the merchandise though or have I just added more junk into the community at large? It's hard to be sure. Some of the items I buy are paper goods. In general I loathe eating off of paper plates or plastic plates. But there are times I do need them and at least with the paper goods, Dollar Tree has a good selection in many colors. Starting in the fall the Christmas merchandise starts to appear. This is where I have started to buy Christmas gift bags and decorative boxes of which they always have a great assortment. Skip the wrapping paper because it is thin and cheap but the bags and boxes are a great way to festively package up gifts. We were going to be staying in a cottage a couple of summers ago and were uncertain whether there would be ample plates and glasses. So I came to this Dollar Tree and purchased 8 quite sturdy white ceramic plates, an assortment of drinking glasses including some ridiculously heavy but certainly quite usable wine stems. All this for just a few dollars and we were happy to leave everything behind at the cottage when we left. That felt like a score. They also sell glass platters and bowls here which I've purchased for the express purpose of using when I bring food or a baked good to a friend or neighbor. The recipient can keep the bowl or platter, I don't have to worry about getting something more precious back to me and I avoid the tacky look of wrapping something in foil. For a dollar an item it is hard to beat the practicality of this idea. Dollar Tree has other kitchen items like pots and pans, baking sheets, dishtowels, pot holders and the like. Again maybe okay if you're temporarily outfitting a vacation rental but other than that I think this stuff will never hold up and therefore not worth it even for a dollar. There are some toys and games mostly ones you've never heard of, coloring books and other children's items. There are crayons but not Crayola however in a pinch I am sure they would be fine. There is packaged food for sale including some questionable items in cans which I can't imagine being brave enough to try but I know people do purchase them and are perhaps relieved to have a food option at this price point...sad but an unfortunate reality of hunger in America. There are pet toys and dog and cat food...again, the provenance of these items is questionable and I would not purchase. There is a layer of dust on many things here, a faint musty odor in the air, hit or miss service at the registers which are never properly staffed and often very long lines at the checkout. But for that occasional item, Dollar Tree is A-OK if indeed you can get in and out before a sense of gloom and despondency overtakes you. Keep hand sanitizer in your car or purse as you will probably want to use it after handling so much dusty merchandise.

I found recently that I bought a grill cover for my grill to replace one I had for years from a different company and thought that this one for the price would work nicely! You get what you paid for and found out that this item was a very thin plastic cover with elastic on the bottom and fused pieces . It fit nicely but it split at the seam as you can visually see on the photo where I had to repair it with duck tape . I should return it and shop elsewhere. But for now I need to cover my grill! Besides I threw away the packaging once I used it!******** If the manager sees this and says I can return it without the original packaging and my receipt THEN I WILL!

I mostly come here to check out new shoe inventory, usually HOKA, Brooks, and OnClouds that they have at discounted prices. For clothing, they have a decent selection: Free People, Madewell, ASTR the label, ALLSAINTS, Naked Wardrobe, Rag & Bone, Good American, Frame jeans, Paige jeans, and Joe's to name a few. Definitely some good finds can be found here & they run extra sales all the time!

He can be a tough fit for any and all clothing because at 6'3" tall with a size 13 wide foot, things can be limited in stock. As it is, he has all his dress shirts made for him and he has had suits custom made to ensure an impeccable and comfortable fit. Lucky for him, the particular sneakers he was looking for were not only in stock here in his size but at a lower (factory outlet) price. The customer service was impeccable. A salesman named Hector assisted him and brought out not only the shoe he was looking for but a couple of other examples for Tom to try on and consider. For essentially what is an outlet store, this level of service seemed above and beyond and was greatly appreciated. The store also sells, lots of other New Balance sportswear for both men and women....leggings, sweats, jackets, gym wear, socks and even hats and gloves all under the New Balance label. As this is a "factory store" with lower prices, you cannot always count on finding the exact thing you are looking for and in your size. That said, there seemed to be a huge array of inventory of all kinds. There are some things sold here that are "factory" seconds but those are clearly marked. If not marked as such you can be assured they are first quality. New Balance is a local Massachusetts company so it is nice to give them our business. Many, although not all, New Balance shoes are manufactured in the United States and they employ many New Englanders amongst their 5 manufacturing sites in Massachusetts and Maine. This is a good new story from a good news company trying to do the right thing here in the USA. This store is a bit out of the way for us but I would definitely return. There is another outlet a bit closer to us in Brighton but for us, that means traipsing in and through the city and ending up in a potential parking nightmare. Here, there is plenty of easy and free parking and the store and its layout are large and easy to navigate.

The employee working at the costumer service register was very rude to me. I told the CS person that I was returning it because the awning was defective and had broken while I attempted to assemble it. The customer service person said it looked used? I told her it came that way. She argued with me and wasted my time arguing for 10 min while continuing to tell me that the awning looked used. I had the receipt and she resisted giving me my refund. Finally the manager of the store came over and suggested I get another awning. I said no, I would prefer a refund. The manager finally gave me my refund. Like the other Yelp reviewer said of Ocean State "Don't recommend giving money to this company. This place sucks. Management sucks. Employees suck. And the cheap damn products suck?" Huge supply of Bobs Red Mill products, a whole wall of it, organised by number. Best deal on the parchment I use for baking - in rolls and precut sheets large enough for a cookie sheet. Household cleaning items - always a great selection, even some throwback stuff like Babbo! During spring, amazing deals on gardening supplies, hoses, coolers, beach stuff. I love this place and trust the quality of just about everything I've purchased there. Friendly help, too. They've definitely made a smart investment in kicking this place up a notch on organisation and customer service. Just got a $10 coupon for answering a brief email survey about their new website.
