A great place for patio sitting and watching the world go by. In doors very basic and on weekends they have live music. They now serve beer and wine. I go there in the mornings and have the breakfast wrap and a hot chocolate as I do not drink coffee. Everything comes hot and very tasty and cooked perfectly. A great breakfast place to go instead of the big box restaurants. They deliver your food but you have to pick up your own drinks. Price is reasonable. Staff are friendly. read more

Pretty busy local joint with an extensive menu and a phenomenal patio! Excellent prices and tons of delicious home baked goodies! They have a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu! I ordered the veggie panini (roasted tomatoes, onions, pesto, zucchini, mozza). The zucchini was so fresh and perfectly flavoured. The pesto to mozza ration was perfect and the onions added a perfect bite. The low review is because the panini was not overly warm and could have been pressed. Since covid-19 has entered our lives, fun is gone and having a good brewed coffee at a nice coffee place is what i miss the most. Still i could get my cup of coffee at this semi closed coffe shop. If i had eaten anything then i would be able to write more but the coffee was great. We also ordered steeped tea and tea latte which were okey but not strong enough. Maybe coz there was more milk. No one in there but me to grab 4 cups of drinks so service was quick. U can get some baked goodies if u prefer. Seems like a clean quite coffee shop. read more

I was really impressed with this place. It has a nice spacious atmosphere with lots of natural light coming in. The food options are great because it caters to different cravings, whether savory, sweet or healthy. The service is also friendly and efficient. I ordered the curried chicken salad. It was a bit heavy on the curry Mayonnaise, but perhaps you could ask for it on the side. I only paid $9.50 for a substantial portion that left me full. We were there during happy hour, which ends at 6pm. This made the experience even better as its $2 off all drinks - beer, wine etc. I got a nice glass of rose for $5.49 and a flight of beer for $6.49. I like that they offer local beer here, from Barnside Brewing, Twin Sails, etc. If you don't want a meal here, they also have pastries and snacks that go well with coffee or tea. read more

A wonderful coffee shop in Tsawwassen area with a variety of beverages and wonderful staffs. I came here for breakfast twice and so far I was satisfied with their services, their coffee have many options from sizes, to milk options such as, dairy, oats, soya and almonds. They do have plenty of breads, biscuits and cake to pair with your coffee as well as wraps, sandwiches, panini salads and others. I did order the carrot cake which is good but I just find it so sweet, I had their Avocado wrap too and I would say it was so good, fresh avocado that goes well with the bacon and egg on it. Im curious with their salad which I take out the buddha bowl, was impress with the veggie and grains on it but not much with the sauce. They do have a well organize covid19 precaution with table instructions so staffs can sanitize the area when done. Was so disappointed! Dropped in today to pick up bread, a coffee and a scone. There were flies around the baked goods that were on display. Mentioned it to the server/ cashier who then turned on a fan which didn't seem to do much to dissuade the flies. Needless to say, didn't purchase a scone or croissant and likely not going back. read more

The American boyfriend is over the border, I have no visa there, so was dropped off here! The place I originally planned on visiting was nowhere to be found, but I discovered Petra's instead! An arts cafe! Everything's wooden and friendly, there are plain ceramic objects to sit and paint with children, and the chairs have individual hand painted flowers on them! Am I in heaven? There's a nice choice of drinks, sweets and sandwiches, nothing out of the ordinary. Same goes for the taste. My wife and a friend recently hit up L'Aromas because we heard they had good pizza and amazing tacos. As my friend is a baker who specializes in pizza dough and my wife and him team up to make incredible pizzas, it seemed unlikely they would be able to live up to our high standards, especially considering it's more a cafe than pure restaurant. We were all looking to blow off some steam and indulge ourselves so we decided to try a bunch of different dishes. We began with the tacos, which have a great reputation. And we were not disappointed. We each ordered a different set of three and shared. Pulled pork, chicken and fish tacos were devoured. I don't even like fish tacos, but these were devine. Usually, when it comes to tacos, I prefer the pulled pork options, but I truly struggled to decide on a favourite. They were all so good. I would highly recommend bringing some friends and tasting them all. Each has a unique and wonderfully complex flavour that made me want to sample all of their flavours. But with pizza up next, I wanted to save space, and I'm glad I did. The three of us shared a delicious Brussel Sprout pizza with prosciutto. It was made with a delightful sweet white sauce that really played against that prosciutto well. The crust was delicious, and definitely a cut above the majority of speciality pizza places I've visited. It was a really unique and enjoyable pizza. Despite having had a pretty substantial meal so far, my group decided to do one more pizza, and quickly demolished a Chicken Margarita pizza. Definitely less bold and innovative than the brussel sprout pizza, it was still well made with a great crust. Before I forget, we also began the meal with a chacuterie board. The bread was great, as you'd expect from a cafe that is owned by the same people who own a bakery, but the star of that particular show was the beer jelly that they get from Barnside Co. I'm definitely picking up some of that for home. F This is the first time I recall ever leaving a restaurant/cafe that wasn't an all you can eat, feeling fully stuff and satisfied. For the last few weeks, I've been on a mission to find some awesome cafes + coffee shops by my house. Luckily in Tsawwassen, there isn't a huge selection of coffee shops to choose from. From what I've seen on my most recent trips, Petra's is a Tsawwassen favourite. You wouldn't be able to tell that from the reviews though. Here is what I can tell you from my last few trips here: 1) Petra's has a wide selection of coffee options. Since it's summer, my go-to right now is an iced coffee with a splash of vanilla. I haven't strayed from this since I started coming here, because it's both refreshing and yummy. I usually just stick to black coffee, but I like having a little bit of flavour when I get it iced. Petra's vanilla iced coffee isn't too sweet, which is just what I like. 2) The number of regulars that come through their door. I sat in a spot that had a good view of the entrance and the patio, so it was ideal for people-creeping. Over the last few times I've visited, I could tell that Petra's has built up a loyal fan-base in Tsawwassen. 3) Their food. Not a big menu, but everything on it seems pretty tasty. I've tried the curry chicken salad and southwest wrap, both were savoury and delicious. They also have a wide selection of pastries and baked goods. They even have a few vegan and GF options. Their carrot cake and banana bread looked delicious and were calling my name, but since I'm trying to eat a bit healthier, I passed this time around. Thinking of bringing the kids? They also have a kids menu! 4) Their patio rocks. For being a small cafe, they a pretty decent sized patio, which fills up on hot summer days. They also have plenty of small and large tables both inside and outside, so it's big-group friendly. 5) Everyone loves local businesses. And Petra's is definitely a well-loved local business. Whether you live in Tsawwassen or are passing by to/from the ferry, it's a good spot to grab a quick bite for lunch. read more

Went for some cool drinks with my wife but was underwhelmed. The place is quite messy (tables with previous customers' cups, spills, crumbs, etc...) inside and outside, and stayed messy for over 30 minutes. My wife's $6+ drink consisted of milk with a teabag in it and it took 5 minutes to bring over to our table, and had a leaky lid (you couldn't lift the drink without spilling it). My drink was okay but not worth the $7+ I spent on it. Maybe $4 makes sense. There are much better cafes in Tsawwassen. You can skip this one. read more

A fave place to meet up with friends and catch up - never rushed, good coffee and delicious food. I love their baked goods, and they have the usual selection of coffee & tea beverages. I have never tried the ceramic-painting in the back, but I enjoy browsing the selection which seems to be quite broad. I mainly go to Petra's (when in Tsawwassen) because I love the coffee (compared to the the generic competition). It also has that 'airy' bakery/coffee shop feel that gives it a special ambience. This seems to be a local favorite as I noticed a variety of different sized groups meeting there - all having comfortable, friendly exchanges in a bustling environment. For morning coffee, there's often a sweet 'pan bread' that's a knockout. Several other snacks (carrot cake, muffins, giant cookies, etc.) are also fresh and baked in-house. read more

I had their Indian Monsoon coffee a few months ago. Not very good at all. Didn't taste like Monsoon, tasted like a blend with Robusta.

I came the Petra's for what i thought would be a nice quick lunch with my sister, and unfortunately it was not a good experience. It was my first time at Petra's and I had high hopes when I saw their baked goods-- they looked delicious and were reasonably priced. We had ordered a bowl of the Thai curry chicken soup, a cup of tomato basil, half a chicken pesto panini and a lemon square. We snacked on the lemon square (which was quite tasty), and waited 20 minutes before deciding to check on our order. It turns out they had lost our order slip so the food hadn't even been prepared. I had to go back and review our order with the cashier so that he could print out another slip, except he told me they had just ran out of the Thai curry and that we would have to choose another soup. We were running out of time as my sister had an appointment to go to, but as I was about to cancel the order all together, they had already brought out the tomato Basil. I had to ask for a refund for the Thai soup, which was almost refunded at the price of a cup and not a bowl. My sister ended up leaving without eating and I stayed to wait for my half a panini which they were finally preparing. As I sat by myself eating my soup and sandwich, one of the workers did stop by my table to apologize and offer me a soup and sandwich voucher. My husband and I have been going to Petra's Cafe for a long time and have always enjoyed it. One year ago in 2015 Eric Murphy bought Petra's Cafe and has taken it to an entirely new level of awesomeness! I can't honestly say I am a coffee lover, but I can honestly say I really love the coffee he serves, not too mention the baking and other goodies he has to offer. Eric is also all about customer service but what I admire the most is how he gives back to the community he serves. Donating his time to coaching, starting foundations for children who are less fortunate, raising money for various charities and so much more! What a tragic mistake to spend my money here. I had hoped for a nice cafe with honest home style food. Wrong. I had a bowl of clam chowder and my wife had the French Onion soup, both obviously from a can. The French onion soup bowl was filled with torn up pieces of bread and unmelted mozzarella cheese. How they felt justified to call it French onion soup is beyond me. We also had the "special" grilled panini with ham and tomatoes. It did have grill marks but how they came to be there is unclear. The bread was room temperature but the cheese was "melted". I am aghast to say it but I am pretty sure the cheese was liquid "natcho" cheese that was poured on. All in all the whole experience was revolting. I won't be stopping to eat in Tswassen any time soon. read more

What an amazing lunch we had on busy sunny Family Day! The best paninis ever, loved the lavender latte, the quinoa wrap was fresh and delicious, the service was excellent and quick even though the place was packed. We were truly impressed.
