Since we were early for our Dolar Shop reservation, my spouse found this quaint cafe to go to. The atmosphere was cute and homey. The menu looked like a blend of a typical Asian milk tea place and a high tea place. My spouse got a Green Milk Tea at half sweetness with boba, and I got a Tiramisu. I thought the milk tea was a little watered down and not as sweet as I generally prefer. The boba was also not as soft as it should've been, though still relatively fine to chew. I thought the Tiramisu was great - sweet and creamy, though I personally wish there was a slightly higher proportion of cake. I love that this place uses so much reusable dishware. Even the boba drink was served in a milkshake glass instead of a plastic cup, which helped to create a more pleasant experience overall. If I'm ever in the area looking for a cute & casual cafe at which to chill or hang out with friends, this would be the place! Leisure used to be the place my friends and i would go when we were in high school and then in university. It's been around for over 15 years at least. It's also one of the rare Taiwanese places that still exists in the Greater Vancouver. Finding parking continues to be an arduous task just like before. There is a parkade beside the restaurant but it's always packed and very small so that it's quite hard to manuever during busy times. The interior is well decorated with lots of wall decor and has an old world European vibe to it. It's a good place for gathering although it can get fairly busy later in the night. They offer a variety of coffee, tea, bubble tea drinks, desserts as well as savory options. I came here on a Friday night with my friend. We ordered: * Hot milk tea with pearls - your standard bubble tea * Milk tea with caramel pudding - I used to order this a lot. Leisure's pudding is made in house and quite good if you also like caramel pudding. * Waffle with Taiwanese chicken nuggets - the presentation of the food was good. The waffle was topped with julienned tomatoes and cucumbers, and drizzled with mayonnaise. In terms of taste, this one was a little disappointing. The waffle was soft and almost bread like. They used to make the waffle so that it's crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside... Also, the nuggets weren't really seasoned so the chicken itself barely had any taste. Nonetheless, if you're looking for a place to chat and want to try some Taiwanese desserts, Leisure is an option. If you're looking for peaceful time to have a date, the afternoon period is good.
We had the cheesecake and the pudding. The cheesecake wasn't too sweet. It had a good amount of cheese flavour and was fluffy like a Japanese cheesecake. The pudding wasn't as soft as I had remembered it. I didn't like the canned peaches around the pudding as it had a weird flavour/scent to it. The servers were fast and very helpful when ordering. Overall a great place to hang out with friends and chat. I've also had their other savoury options and they are not bad as a snack
PURIN + WAFFLES = HAPPINESS Leisure Tea & Coffee in Richmond will forever be one of my favourite dessert cafes. The nostalgic interior, menu, and vintage cutlery makes you feel like you've been transported back in time. All the staff are super welcoming, and I think they make some of the best traditional Taiwanese style desserts. Their grass jelly, waffles, and caramel pudding are a must. I also think they make the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. I was looking for a dessert place and ended up here. It's very comfy inside with the soft lights and wooden furniture. They have a big menu including tea, dessert, and other food. The servers are always around if you need them. I feel like I can enjoy a slow day in the cafe, it's nice.
A very authentic warm and feels like 1980's atmosphere. With lovely servers and reasonable price. I love the tea's serve here, herb tea's are very organic such as the oolong milk tea and others are fresh like the fruity tea which contains real fruit. I enjoyed trying their different flavours and surprise as how fruits and leaf tea can go together. They do have both salty and sweets, we normally come here for their tea's and sweets, my favourite would be their tiramisu which I think the best balance of infused rum on it. Cheese cake is a well recommended and their Irish coffee. I ordered the caramel Pudding milky icy and honestly don't like it, I can eat the toppings on it but the rest were plain ice maybe I was expecting snowy cream thats why. Overall, this place is a lovely place for a relaxing hangout for tea's and some desserts.
I came to Leisure Tea and Coffee as I was craving for some caffeine and something hot on a snowy winter day. The interior was very cute and reminded me of a homey cafe ambience in the 70s or 80s. I think the strength of this cafe is in their Taiwanese snacks and so many patrons had such delicious offerings on their tables! The coffee I got was good but would prefer other local roasters in the area. I am very interested in coming back to give some of their in house offerings and Asian inspired treats a try! I'm sure this review will need an update in the near future as my review was based only on the coffee!
Highly recommend this tea and dessert place. Stumbled here after going to the Fish Man for lunch next door. Pleasantly surprised by the laid back and homely decor and really feels like you're in a British tea house. The desserts and tea are also reasonably priced and I really enjoyed my time here. Thanks!
Leisure Tea Somewhere in time - 9.5/10 a pretty small portion - a decent amount of ice. Kinda shocking because i had it before, and got it again without realizing ive tried it before. Its solid and its made with a mix of fruits. Its a "secret" (they'll tell you if you need to know the ingredients) but its super fruity and refreshing! Its not too sweet but just the slightly tart and comes with real fruit! I would get it again, but i wish the portion was bigger. I would definitely get it again if i needed a refreshing drink! I feel like i havent this flavour anywhere else. It reminds me of candy, but not as sweet as candy Provence tea $5.75 9/10 a solid tea choice - really nice and i didnt need to add sugar or cream. It tastes quite sweet but not overly floral either Tiramisu $5.25 9.5/10 really smooth and creamy tiramisu! I really enjoyed it but i felt like the portion was small but tiramisu is usually pretty pricy. I haven't had a lot of tiramisu, but it's definitely worth trying here. I like it better than the strawberry shaved ice because i think its more worth it (while the canned strawberries are DELICIOUS - it is primarily ice) Super nice day to celebrate my besties birthday - interior is super cozy and the drinks and food is delicious Check it out!
Super cute cafe for those long catch-up chats or late night talks. It's one of the few that opens late until midnight (and 12:30am on Fridays/Saturdays). Once inside, it's a unique feeling because of the decor and different from typical BBT places - you'll know what I mean once you check it out! The decor is actually one of the reasons I like this place, bonus points! I'm not Taiwanese, but to me, their snacks and desserts taste authentic. I feel like their snack/dessert/drink menu has a wide range of variety, so each person will be able to get what they want! Also, they have items that typical BBT shops don't usually offer, like caramel pudding and crepes. My favourite thing to get is the 'sweet soups' - you can get them hot or cold. I like mine hot. It comes in a mug with a spoon and you can customize it by adding your favourite items, like bubble tea but much more variety! My favourites to add include taro chunks, tofu pudding, kidney beans, and taro and sweet potato balls - a very Taiwanese dessert! (I actually don't know anywhere else where they serve 'sweet soup' so if you do, please leave me a message!) The only downside about Leisure Tea is that if you want a full on meal, they don't really have that. The closest thing is probably sandwiches that they serve. But definitely one of my favourite places to stop by for snacks and chats.
i've being trying to find authentic taiwanese crushed ice dessert with mung bean topping in toronto for ever, and finally found it on the west coast in richmond! there's just something extremely refreshing about mung beans and crushed ice. the condensed milk gives it the perfect level of sweetness. the place is just the right amount of people for a weekday night at 9pm. great place for a date with your friend or just a study date by yourself. will definitely come back for the crushed ice again next time i come to vancouver!
CASH ONLY! Leisure tea and coffee Walked in the cafe a young female server welcomed four of us with an uninterested vibe, showed us our seats and gave two menus. Nobody came up to check up on us, had to raise my hand to get our order. At this time it wasn't busy. We ordered: Leisure blend coffee $5.25 Taiwanese sausage $7.75 Japanese plum and lemon $6.25 Kumquat tea $5.50 Latte $7.75 Coffee and tea is super over priced, I'm guessing due to being served in porcelain cups. Our food and drinks took more than 20 minutes to arrive. I'd say the bubble teas are worth the price since the portion is good. Suggestion for the place would be they should have the receipt in English as well since not ever customer can read Chinese or is Chinese. Towards the end it got busy, asked for the bill from an older lady who is professional, smiles, served us quickly, and checked up on us. Didn't get her name but she was amazing.

I got hot grass jelly which includes other toppings. It's not that sweet and the overall vibe of the cafe is relaxing and vintage-like. It's a nice place to chill and work. read more

This place has been around for many years but I've only now gotten around to trying it. It's a cute little place. The walls are decorated with pictures from Europe and the teacups are very "British." Besides scone and tea, you can get regular food here as well such as fries, salt & pepper chicken, and radish cake to name just a few. You can also get cold drinks like juice & bubble tea, and bubble tea drinks here too. So...not your typical British style Afternoon Tea joint. Kind of half restaurant, half tea place. My friend had a pot of Leisure Fresh Fruit tea and a scone. We'd already had lunch a bit earlier and while my friend had room for a scone, I had zero room in my stomach for any food so I just had a pot of Longan Red Date tea. It was a cold day so a pot of hot tea really hit the spot. I thought it a bit pricy at first, but when the tea came, I saw that the teabags were Fortnum & Mason teabags. That is a very a prestigious company from all the way over in England. When I realized we were drinking Fortnum & Mason tea, all of a sudden $10.25 didn't seem so extravagant any more. My friend said her scone seemed like more of a biscuit than a scone. It came with butter and jam. I think she wished there had been some clotted cream to go with it. I can't say too much about the food as I only had one pot of tea but I was impressed that it was Fortnum & Mason tea, and I very much enjoyed the flavor of the Longan & Red Dates in my tea. read more
This is a nice cafe with plenty of choices of Taiwanese foods and drinks. The interior has a wooden hut theme like an old wooden inn in a small town. The vibes is warm and comfy with good service. Relaxing place with solid fruit tea and dessert. Their caramel pudding is a great pleasure after a heavy meal. Not too sweet body with whip cream, caramel sauce, and slice of peach. Combo this with fruit tea, you got your sweet / sour combo. Milk tea (unsweetened) was warm delight, coupled with well made cheesecake, which was more on the light side - layer of heavier cheese-y goodness at the bottom. Pricing was probably justified by quality of food/drink, quiet atmosphere, and old dutch cafe decoration. read more
I came here with a few friends for their shaved ice and also try out there bubble tea, which they are known for. I ended up getting their fresh taro smoothie and a shaved ice with a three types of beans: green bean, mung bean and red bean. Quite frankly the taro smoothie which was hot like a really thick soup or chowder with chunks of taro on the bottom. It was a meal in itself. This shaved ice wasn't what I thought it would be because it was the typical shaved ice that was covered in beans which you could find all over America. It isn't the shaved ice that is infused with flavor before hand. One of my friends got the passion fruit tea with tapioca bubbles which I totally loved because it had a good amount of sweetness did not taste artificial as well. The tapioca bubbles were cooked perfectly by not being too hard or too chewy. Another one of my friends had a pineapple tea which also was very good and had the natural sweetness of the pineapple from the pineapple pieces on the bottom of the teapot. Another one ordered Blue Mountain coffee that was served with a mini cute cup of cream on the side. Overall I could see why this place is so popular. The food is good and the lighting and the decor is very homey with magazine pictures of paintings and photos of traveling. The interior is very light wood which gives it more of a relaxed feeling. read more
Came here to try their desserts. Parking here is pretty horrendous, so try to come late at night after the dinner people leave. The place is quite cozy. Almost too cozy. The place was completely packed, and those who are claustrophobic may feel a little uneasy here. This place is known for their desserts. I had their blueberry pie. It didn't look anything special other than the whipped cream on top, but oh wow this was good. Normally I'm not a huge fan of desserts, but this the spot. Most importantly, it was not too sweet, which is my biggest complaint with many dessert spots. This place also has your run-of-the-mill Taiwanese bubble teas, but I didn't try one. Definitely a good go-to place if you have a Taiwanese sweet tooth. Being open late also scores points in my book. read more

Leisure is a pretty decent spot to hang out late at night when you're feeling hungry (or thirsty) but with the plethora of cafes and bubble tea restaurants in Richmond to choose from, I honestly don't think leisure stands out that much. I actually used to love coming here for their waffles, cakes, and taiwanese fried chicken in high school but lately, there have been so many better restaurants popping up in Richmond that I hardly ever come here anymore. I honestly have to say that a few of their items have seriously disappointed me recently, hence the 3 star rating. We had their tiramisu and another cake the other day and they were pretttttty bad... The cakes just tasted very off and weren't good at all. I can't really describe what was wrong with the cakes but when I spoke to the waitress about it, even she agreed that they weren't very popular at Leisure! Their crepes were mediocre while their waffles were pretty good. We also ordered a Taiwanese set that included fried fish paste pieces and deep fried chicken nuggets. Those were awesome! The service is a bit slow because they seem quite understaffed at night but its understandable considering the small size of the restaurant. Their drinks are still fairly good and the staff are quite friendly. However, I think I would prefer going to Memory Corner for late night Taiwanese cuisine and/or snacks if I felt like having bubble tea/Taiwanese fried chicken/etc. read more
I've been here a few times. It's a decent place to go when you can't think of a place to hang out with friends. I don't particularly find their food or drinks all that appealing, but perhaps it's just what I've tried so far. In terms of their wheat germ milk tea with pearl, I like the one at pearl castle (not the one in Richmond centre) a lot more. In terms of the fresh taro with pearl, I find it too Icy. Their pearls aren't that great. In terms of their 甜不辣 (fried tempura?) and 鹽酥雞 (popcorn chicken?) They're okay..... But nothing special. Overall.... A solid 3. Service = nothing in particular to speak of read more
We came here to see how great this for star on yelp review would be and was a little disappointed. It's Not a bad place But compared to all the other local eateries around this one of the top rated places. It's OK for snack and Tea. We would not come back but I would recommend everybody to try it at least once and get your own opinion. We will also have a video on our YouTube channel so you can check it out at TigerFamilyLife~. Leisure has been here for so long but that's how you know it's good! Our go-to order is always the Taiwanese Crispy Chicken Waffle - that's what we come for! It's the perfect combination of sweet and savoury! The mayo is not your regular mayo, it is perfectly creamy yet light. The chicken also just goes so well with the waffle. It satisfies and fills you up just enough for a yummy afternoon snack. Definitely try this if you're looking for a good 下午茶 meal! read more

The desserts here are delicious and my wife and I love that classic theme they have going. The servers are nice. But.... The only reason I'm giving 3 stars because it never fails for the server to forget our drinks. We'll always request for two glasses of hot/warm water before we decide what we want. I'm okay letting it slide once or twice. I'm quite patient but when it happens every time we go there it gets kind of tiresome. Yes, I do recommend this place. It's good desserts with the feel you're at home. read more

What a cute little place to stop for dessert and drinks (tea/coffee/bubble tea). My husband and I stopped by here for a quick treat and we were very impressed. PROS: Ambiance: From the outside it doesn't look like much but the interior is rather charming and cozy. It reminds me of being inside a wooden cabin. Service: We were greeted and seated right away. There was a bit of a language barrier with the lady that was taking care of us but she was very sweet. She did her best to understand what we were asking for. Food: I ordered the light cheesecake and my husband ordered a strawberry/banana crepe with vanilla ice cream. My cheesecake was very light, sort of had a sponge cake like consistency. It wasn't very sweet but that's what I had expected. I loved it because I don't have much of a sweet tooth. My husbands crepe was wonderful. The thickness of the crepe was perfect. Leisure Fruit Tea (Changed it to Iced Fresh Kumqat Tea) + Caramel Pudding ($11.75+tax). I like the Iced Fresh Kumqat Tea. Nice and fresh! I was able to eat the clementine/kumqat as well! It was sweet! On the other hand, the Caramel Pudding wasn't nommy.. I didn't like it... Something about it was different, but I can't explain.. Japanese Light Cheesecake ($5.75+tax) was okay. Of course, I would prefer the Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake. read more
Love this place but I hate it when I forget that its cash only. That totally sucks!! So while I want to live the food and dessert I either have to leave and cancel the order or borrow from someone, which sucks too. And I have a funny bone with businesses that do cash only. It's my personal gripe. But aside from that I love this place. Ghibli styling is the bonus. If everyone spoke Japanese, I'd feel like I was in one of his films. Check out my pics! read more

Unique, Cozy, Retro: are just some of the words that describes this place. If you are detailed as Iam, this place is filled with picture frames of olden style paintings throughout their cafe. Each painting they have up is different. The wooden style furnishing along with the low light makes me feel as if Iam in a cottage. They had done a great job in creating an ambience that works. Drinks & snacks are in the variety. Their menu also include some unique combos. I don't usually eat scones as I find them dry and boring. But the blueberry scones from here will make me order more next time. Pricing is quite reasonable. I've returned back to this place several times. They keep things consistently here, something that not many businesses are able to do. Staff are always friendly. This is actually my favorite place for tea. Well done Leisure. We got yam fries, blueberry shaved ice, passion fruit slush, and a fruit sundae. Great texture for the fries but not yam-my enough. Pretty good price and portion for the shaved ice. I really liked the frozen blueberries. I would get it again ! Overall there's a huge variety of food to choose from which is great. Terrible service tho ! The server came like every 10 mins so we had to wait a while to order, and to get an extra spoon. Also she didn't speak or understand English very well. Also - very weird music read more

I really like the extensive menu selection here and the fact they open till late night. The milk tea and icy desserts were fantastic during this visit. There are combos and savoury items you can order as well. My only complaint was watching the servers handle food, drinks, desserts and money with the same pair of gloves. Tables were sticky and needed a good elbow grease scrubbing. Parking can be challenging in the area so plan your trip accordingly. Metered street parking at front. A little dessert coffee and tea house on Alexandra Rd. The place was packed on a weeknight, and service was kind of slow as there was only one server running up and down the place. I had the hot taro powder tea, and I liked it. It was sweet, but not too sweet. Most of the teas and drinks are 4-6 dollar range, so not cheap, but not that expensive either. read more

This place used to be good years ago. We usually get the icecream waffle and cold tofu pearl drink. The waffle back then was perfect, light and crispy, perfect with the vanilla icecream. The tofu drink was really good too. Sadly the waffle's texture now is like eating bread. No seriously, just like bread. The tofu drink now isnt cold at all. I dont know about the other food, but its just plain disappointing. I don't think we will be returning. read more

Tried their japanese cheesecake and a fruit tea. The tea was too sweet and tasted like steeped fruit while the cheesecake was nothing special and tasted store bought. Ambience was dark and prices were too high. read more

Oh my! This place is dessert heaven! They have everything you ever imagine. Tea, iced coffee, latte, bubble tea, shaved ice, Crepe, waffles and scones. name it and they have it. Most items are under $10 and they taste good. Friendly servers and good customer service. Place is clean and has a shabby chic theme. Washroom is clean too. It does get busy at night and they are open later. It's a good place to hang out have desserts and have fun. Ordered the devil iced coffee, caramel pudding milky ice and mango milk. Enjoyed every single one of them. The caramel pudding resembles the Filipino dessert le he flan except it's more creamier. I am definitely coming back! read more
