This place has been around for many years but I've only now gotten around to trying it. It's a cute little place. The walls are decorated with pictures from Europe and the teacups are very "British." Besides scone and tea, you can get regular food here as well such as fries, salt & pepper chicken, and radish cake to name just a few. You can also get cold drinks like juice & bubble tea, and bubble tea drinks here too. So...not your typical British style Afternoon Tea joint. Kind of half restaurant, half tea place. My friend had a pot of Leisure Fresh Fruit tea and a scone. We'd already had lunch a bit earlier and while my friend had room for a scone, I had zero room in my stomach for any food so I just had a pot of Longan Red Date tea. It was a cold day so a pot of hot tea really hit the spot. I thought it a bit pricy at first, but when the tea came, I saw that the teabags were Fortnum & Mason teabags. That is a very a prestigious company from all the way over in England. When I realized we were drinking Fortnum & Mason tea, all of a sudden $10.25 didn't seem so extravagant any more. My friend said her scone seemed like more of a biscuit than a scone. It came with butter and jam. I think she wished there had been some clotted cream to go with it. Since we were early for our Dolar Shop reservation, my spouse found this quaint cafe to go to. The atmosphere was cute and homey. The menu looked like a blend of a typical Asian milk tea place and a high tea place. My spouse got a Green Milk Tea at half sweetness with boba, and I got a Tiramisu. I thought the milk tea was a little watered down and not as sweet as I generally prefer. The boba was also not as soft as it should've been, though still relatively fine to chew. I thought the Tiramisu was great - sweet and creamy, though I personally wish there was a slightly higher proportion of cake. I love that this place uses so much reusable dishware. Even the boba drink was served in a milkshake glass instead of a plastic cup, which helped to create a more pleasant experience overall. Leisure used to be the place my friends and i would go when we were in high school and then in university. It's been around for over 15 years at least. It's also one of the rare Taiwanese places that still exists in the Greater Vancouver. Finding parking continues to be an arduous task just like before. There is a parkade beside the restaurant but it's always packed and very small so that it's quite hard to manuever during busy times. The interior is well decorated with lots of wall decor and has an old world European vibe to it. It's a good place for gathering although it can get fairly busy later in the night. They offer a variety of coffee, tea, bubble tea drinks, desserts as well as savory options. I came here on a Friday night with my friend. We ordered: * Hot milk tea with pearls - your standard bubble tea * Milk tea with caramel pudding - I used to order this a lot. Leisure's pudding is made in house and quite good if you also like caramel pudding. * Waffle with Taiwanese chicken nuggets - the presentation of the food was good. The waffle was topped with julienned tomatoes and cucumbers, and drizzled with mayonnaise. In terms of taste, this one was a little disappointing. The waffle was soft and almost bread like. They used to make the waffle so that it's crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside... Also, the nuggets weren't really seasoned so the chicken itself barely had any taste. Nonetheless, if you're looking for a place to chat and want to try some Taiwanese desserts, Leisure is an option. A very authentic warm and feels like 1980's atmosphere. With lovely servers and reasonable price. I love the tea's serve here, herb tea's are very organic such as the oolong milk tea and others are fresh like the fruity tea which contains real fruit. I enjoyed trying their different flavours and surprise as how fruits and leaf tea can go together. They do have both salty and sweets, we normally come here for their tea's and sweets, my favourite would be their tiramisu which I think the best balance of infused rum on it. Cheese cake is a well recommended and their Irish coffee. I came to Leisure Tea and Coffee as I was craving for some caffeine and something hot on a snowy winter day. The interior was very cute and reminded me of a homey cafe ambience in the 70s or 80s. I think the strength of this cafe is in their Taiwanese snacks and so many patrons had such delicious offerings on their tables! The coffee I got was good but would prefer other local roasters in the area. I am very interested in coming back to give some of their in house offerings and Asian inspired treats a try! Its solid and its made with a mix of fruits. Its a "secret" (they'll tell you if you need to know the ingredients) but its super fruity and refreshing! Its not too sweet but just the slightly tart and comes with real fruit! I would get it again, but i wish the portion was bigger. I would definitely get it again if i needed a refreshing drink! Super cute cafe for those long catch-up chats or late night talks. It's one of the few that opens late until midnight (and 12:30am on Fridays/Saturdays). Once inside, it's a unique feeling because of the decor and different from typical BBT places - you'll know what I mean once you check it out! The decor is actually one of the reasons I like this place, bonus points! I'm not Taiwanese, but to me, their snacks and desserts taste authentic. I feel like their snack/dessert/drink menu has a wide range of variety, so each person will be able to get what they want! Also, they have items that typical BBT shops don't usually offer, like caramel pudding and crepes. My favourite thing to get is the 'sweet soups' - you can get them hot or cold. I like mine hot. It comes in a mug with a spoon and you can customize it by adding your favourite items, like bubble tea but much more variety! My favourites to add include taro chunks, tofu pudding, kidney beans, and taro and sweet potato balls - a very Taiwanese dessert! (I actually don't know anywhere else where they serve 'sweet soup' so if you do, please leave me a message!) The only downside about Leisure Tea is that if you want a full on meal, they don't really have that. The closest thing is probably sandwiches that they serve. I came here with a few friends for their shaved ice and also try out there bubble tea, which they are known for. I ended up getting their fresh taro smoothie and a shaved ice with a three types of beans: green bean, mung bean and red bean. Quite frankly the taro smoothie which was hot like a really thick soup or chowder with chunks of taro on the bottom. It was a meal in itself. This shaved ice wasn't what I thought it would be because it was the typical shaved ice that was covered in beans which you could find all over America. It isn't the shaved ice that is infused with flavor before hand. One of my friends got the passion fruit tea with tapioca bubbles which I totally loved because it had a good amount of sweetness did not taste artificial as well. The tapioca bubbles were cooked perfectly by not being too hard or too chewy. Another one of my friends had a pineapple tea which also was very good and had the natural sweetness of the pineapple from the pineapple pieces on the bottom of the teapot. Another one ordered Blue Mountain coffee that was served with a mini cute cup of cream on the side. Overall I could see why this place is so popular. The food is good and the lighting and the decor is very homey with magazine pictures of paintings and photos of traveling. The place was completely packed, and those who are claustrophobic may feel a little uneasy here. This place is known for their desserts. I had their blueberry pie. It didn't look anything special other than the whipped cream on top, but oh wow this was good. Normally I'm not a huge fan of desserts, but this the spot. Leisure is a pretty decent spot to hang out late at night when you're feeling hungry (or thirsty) but with the plethora of cafes and bubble tea restaurants in Richmond to choose from, I honestly don't think leisure stands out that much. I actually used to love coming here for their waffles, cakes, and taiwanese fried chicken in high school but lately, there have been so many better restaurants popping up in Richmond that I hardly ever come here anymore. I honestly have to say that a few of their items have seriously disappointed me recently, hence the 3 star rating. We had their tiramisu and another cake the other day and they were pretttttty bad... I can't really describe what was wrong with the cakes but when I spoke to the waitress about it, even she agreed that they weren't very popular at Leisure! Their crepes were mediocre while their waffles were pretty good. We also ordered a Taiwanese set that included fried fish paste pieces and deep fried chicken nuggets. Those were awesome! The service is a bit slow because they seem quite understaffed at night but its understandable considering the small size of the restaurant. Their drinks are still fairly good and the staff are quite friendly. This is is one of the better Cafe located in the Richmond area. I came here on a cold rainy night with my friend and the setting are quite cozy. Actually reminded me of the coffee shops prior to Starbucks invasion in Asia. We ordered few drinks and snacks. The drinks are of course, very Taiwanese style. The Taro milkshake was quite delicious. Silky smooth with the hint of taro . I like the overall texture of the milkshake. Their mixed fried dish were just okay. Inside, it feels more of an asian cabin, with some wooden accents and tables. I had the mango milk tea. It was smooth, light and delicious. I didn't get any pearls or anything. Also had a blueberry scone. The scones comes in twos or threes. It was $3.75 for 2 small scones. My friend had tea and they use actual fancy tea cups, not regular cups. Well fancy in that the cups and saucer have flower patterns. Don't think it's Royal or anything but I didn't really flip the saucer upside down to look. The price is reasonable for bubble tea and such however the coffee price is expensive. It ranges from $4.50 - 5.75. It is slow drip but other coffee places that have slow drip is a lot cheaper ( Matchstick, Timbertrain, etc ). There isn't a lot of food here. There are a few desserts and drinks. Waffles with ice cream, scones, shaved ice, a few sandwiches, etc. Service is a little slow. Think there was only 1 server when I went and it was busy. The drinks and food did come quickly although they did have a batch of scones on the counter. There is some free parking in the back parking lot but it gets full quickly. Each painting they have up is different. The wooden style furnishing along with the low light makes me feel as if Iam in a cottage. They had done a great job in creating an ambience that works. Drinks & snacks are in the variety. Their menu also include some unique combos. I don't usually eat scones as I find them dry and boring. Oh my! This place is dessert heaven! They have everything you ever imagine. Tea, iced coffee, latte, bubble tea, shaved ice, Crepe, waffles and scones. name it and they have it. Most items are under $10 and they taste good. Friendly servers and good customer service. Place is clean and has a shabby chic theme. Washroom is clean too. It does get busy at night and they are open later. It's a good place to hang out have desserts and have fun. Ordered the devil iced coffee, caramel pudding milky ice and mango milk. Enjoyed every single one of them. The caramel pudding resembles the Filipino dessert le he flan except it's more creamier. I am definitely coming back! read more

This place used to be good years ago. We usually get the icecream waffle and cold tofu pearl drink. The waffle back then was perfect, light and crispy, perfect with the vanilla icecream. The tofu drink was really good too. Sadly the waffle's texture now is like eating bread. No seriously, just like bread. The tofu drink now isnt cold at all. I dont know about the other food, but its just plain disappointing. I don't think we will be returning. read more
