I would've been very happy to purchase a computer from Bill but Bill didn't appreciate my questions. I have a computer that is about 11 years old and I wanted things transferred to a new computer that he has assured me works like a "rocket". Willing to buy it but I still needed some questions answered. My first question was how do we move my photos which are in about four different places to one place. He told me that if they're in four different places on my computer, they're going to stay on four different places on my new computer, I told him I wanted them in one place and he said "not my problem". Every question I asked him he responded by telling me he was going to give me my hard drive which I could plug into my new computer and it would have any information that wasn't transferred over. Wonderful except that I don't know how to get that information from one place to the other and asked him how I would do that once I went home and he said "not my problem". From that point on everything was not his problem, and when my information was transferred I would be going home unable to utilize my brand new computer to its fullest. I finally asked him how I could find out how to use what he was giving me and he said that I could pay someone $150 an hour to show/teach me. Instead of answering all my questions with "not my problem" it would have been nice if he just told me this in the beginning. As it turns out his company can teach me these things for $150 an hour which I did not know but certainly would have paid. I was not looking for anything for free, I was just looking to walk out the door with a computer that I understood. I'm glad this happened before my information was transferred so that I do not have to deal with this particular man again. Additionally, he is the loudest person I have ever dealt with. He answered what questions I was able to ask by yelling at me. I left there feeling I had been verbally accosted. In the spirit of full disclosure, I have to admit that I got loud, too. It's not easy to walk into a store, expecting to make a purchase and be verbally taken down by the proprietor. I would definitely not recommend this business to anyone. read more

My prior review stated there were errors on the new hard drive, after returning it twice Bill decided to put a new hard drive in it and start fresh. I picked it up, brought it home and started loading my software programs back into it and got error messages again and it needed to reboot! I surrender! I wish I had spent the money on a new hard drive! I learned a valuable lesson. read more

Computer VIP saved my Mac! My 2006 iMac's hard drive finally spooled itself into oblivion. Its a work horse, running for 10 hours a day 6 days a week. Poor Mac just couldn't hang with the constant use anymore and blacked out. This posed a huge problem. Although I have multiple backups of all data, I can not afford down time with this machine. Enter Bill and John at Computer VIP. They were able to give me a brand new, more powerful internal hard drive, and transfer every scrap of data from the old drive. While they had my Mac they also upgraded all of my software to the most current compatible versions, and installed a new internal CD drive as well. All with minimal downtime and a very fair price. Not happy. Went there to have my computer fixed. Used it maybe 4 or 5 times before something else went wrong with it. Brought it back, and they told me it was fixed a second time and didn't charge me. This time, it only worked briefly before crapping out again. Decided this was a bad choice and asked for a refund. Employee stated a bunch of computer mumbo jumbo I didn't understand, basically telling me it wasn't their fault, and they don't give refunds. Bottom line, I paid them for a service they couldn't provide, and they felt they still had the right to keep my money. Left with a computer that still doesn't work, plus I'm out substantial $$. Went here today to see if I could save an old laptop that the screen no longer worked and the guy who works here or owns it was awesome!! He explained everything to me right away and told me it wouldn't be worth it and then I told him that I had read online somewhere that if I bought a cable to hook up to my laptop to tv would that work he showed me how to do it and gave me that exact cable for FREE! Computer VIP is a great place for computer repairs. The geek squad wouldn't look at our computer without committing $150 minimum-so no thanks-I searched elsewhere. Thankfully a friend recommended Computer VIP! Computer VIP took the computer without requiring any payment up front. A couple of days later they let me know what the problem was and if I wanted to fix it for $125 or not. I agreed. They performed the repair quickly and for the price they quoted. Every person I interacted with was super friendly and professional. I would absolutely go back to Computer VIP for any future computer needs (and I live 25 miles away). Just when I thought my 7+ year old mac was destined for the dump, the guys at Computer VIP brought it back to life. My computer used to take at least 10mins to start and websites were not loading at a normal speed. Now the computer is like new! They provided a new hard drive and back up hard drive with all my old docs etc. They were also able to update Microsoft office when I mistakenly updated to the incorrect software! I brought a jump drive containing very important work reports on it which I really needed to retrieve. I have to call back and ask about it several times and finally after waiting about 3 weeks with no calls back I went in to pick it up. They told my they were not able to retrieve the information. When I asked for it back wouldn't you know that they couldn't find it anywhere. They told me they would look around and call me when they found it. That never happened.
