Though the studio is old, each class provides EVERYTHING you need to practice on the wheel - clay, tools, aprons, etc. You have to pay extra per piece you want to fire and we didn't get free reign with glazes and trimming (the instructors do it for you). But I didn't mind for the price, and it makes it easier for those who take the class to spend it entirely on honing in the art of throwing. Overall a great start for beginners who have always wanted to try ceramics! They really create a safe space for you to mess up and learn. Taught by experienced instructors, Byrdie's has reasonable membership prices as well!

I stopped in today to donate bolts of upholstery fabric that had been given to me but weren't what I needed. Now someone else can get use of the fabric. They also do a once a month fabric recycling program - for a small monetary donation - for fabric /clothes that can't be reused. One less thing in a landfill! So if you need some quilting pieces or want to make a pillow or just talk sewing far from a corporate big box store, this might be the place for you.

I walked in to a cavalcade of costume jewelry, purses and and scarves...all of which was 50% off. And maybe that's all the time. There were also custom pillows and linens (which was the original purpose of the store when it opened 15 years ago, or so I was told by the person working there). AND racks and racks of vintage albums. And some furniture and knick knacks and vintage jewelry. I ended up buying a couple of vintage pins and was given a discount for cash.
