I was in Paris on my 38th birthday in January 2024 and waited for an hour in the cold to eat at Le Relais de l'Entrecôte on Rue Marbeuf. It was a wonderful lunch, the food memorably delicious, and I had high hopes for L'Entrecôte de Paris when I came across it almost two years later, on an early evening walk along the Champs-Elysées. I was with my mom, my two young sons, and my friend Ava B., who lives in Paris and had treated me to that birthday lunch. We had some inkling that this L'Entrecôte, on a conspicuously touristy block pretty close to Le Relais (only six minutes on foot, I just looked it up) might not be the same as the one we'd so enjoyed. But there was no line and we had to eat, so we decided to walk in. I honestly can't tell, even with time and internet at my disposal, whether this L'Entrecôte is part of the historic family of restaurants that includes Le Relais de l'Entrecôte. That group has its own Wikipedia page and it seems that several branches of the family have struck out on their own, but I can't find this location among them. What is clear is that this restaurant is at best a distant cousin of the one I went to two years ago. It must benefit from the association, as it is quite clearly inferior. The place was cute, at least, even if we were directed to the basement, where no one offered to help us lug our big American stroller. There were mirrors and Frenchy art on the walls, red gingham tablecloths on the tables. The format was the same as at Le Relais de l'Entrecôte. Small menu, very few choices, just the set with salad, steak, and fries. The kids ate dinner rolls and fries and drank water flavored with strawberry syrup. I had a glass of red wine. The salad was okay, out-of-the-bag greens with some pecans and a creamy dressing. The fries were solid, but the steak was pretty bad. It just wasn't good beef, and the house sauce wasn't anything special. Certainly not tasty enough to make up for the meat quality. L'Entrecôte was 100% a tourist trap, and I'm a little ashamed that I fell for it. It wasn't the worst thing to have a quick early dinner with kids, though, without going out of our way. But if you have time to walk and suffer a longer line, I'd recommend getting the real thing on Rue Marbeuf. read more

L'Entrecote de Paris was one of three entrecote restaurant chains we had our eye on while visiting Paris. We were led stay from a YouTuber and came here, instead of one that was closer to our hotel. I'm extra salty cause I waited in a long line in the pouring rain thinking my patience would be rewarded, but it wasn't. Staff here seemed very overwhelmed and busy. Maybe they're short staffed. They were rolling their eyes and talking smack out loud about their customers right in front of them with each other. They might be the WORST restaurant service I had in Paris. We both ordered La Formule (26,50€) that sounds like a good deal including a Walnut Salad, 180 gram Sirloin, with the famous sauce and French fries at will. My boyfriend also had a Coke (6,60€) when I asked for a wine recommendation the waiter snapped at me that they're all good and just to pick one. *eyeroll* I got a Les Bonnerues Pinot Noir (9,50€) to pair a nice French red with the sirloin. Once again, I acknowledge the formule sounds good but when it came out the salad was bland. The sirloin was dry and tough. The sauce was interesting. The fries were NOT at will. Also we saw that other entrecotes give you a free refill of the meat, which this restaurant does not do. Had I know I would have ordered a full ribeye instead of this formule. What a disappointment. A waste of a meal in Paris suffering bad service and dry mediocre food. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place. read more

We were finishing another day of walking around Paris and being within the vicinity of the Arc de Triomphe, this family unanimously voted for a hearty meal, so off we gps assisted walked to L'Entrecôte de Paris. We were probably in line for a good 30 minutes around 8 pm in October, which was just enough time for me to snap outdoor night shots of the Champs-Élysées with the Arc de Triomphe as my subject. Our party of four was seated on the second floor as the ground floor was filled to capacity. This made me wonder why the basement tables (where the restrooms are located) were left empty. Our server, Alex, was coincidentally a fellow Filipino and "Visayan" who spoke the same dialect as us. So my wife and I were talking to him comfortably the whole time. This table of famished tourists decided to keep it simple and get the popular L'Entrecôte de Paris formule, which consisted of a Walnut Salad and an 180 gm grilled Sirloin with "just the right texture" crispy fries and the Champvert family's own secret sauce (oh so good). We paired this combo with a bottle of Bordeaux because you know, France. :) The Walnut Salad was just a nice refreshing starter to the feast that was coming. The steaks grilled medium underwhelmed me at first glance. Thought it wasn't photogenic at all, but that notion just about disappeared in our heads as soon as we gorged on the tender beef cuts. I'm not a french fry fan and would prefer a side salad or fruit if there's an alternative option, but the frites that were served us were a gustatory win combined with the buttery mustard sauce. I said a whispery no when our server offered another heaping of the "at will" sides, and that proved to be another wise decision of the night as we inhaled the sauce smothered fries the second time around. We capped our dinner with our favorites, creme brulee, and profiteroles. These were winners as well. My go to place for Steak & Frites when I'm on this side of the pond. I still remember the first time I went here at L'Entrecote, it was through the recommendation of my boss. It did not disappoint, it has since then became my go to spot when I am craving a good chunk of steak wading in this buttery delicious sauce! and the fries! - almost all my friends can tell you that I'm a big snob when it comes to fries, it has to be crispy golden delicious, L'Entrecote always has the best "crisp on the outside - soft and steaming scrumptious on the inside" fries (you'll be surprised how some restaurants still managed to butcher a standard cut french fries) Service has always been good and expedient, the place has remained the same, I've always dined on the second floor, it's more quieter and has a more intimate feel. Side story: I've dined here one time with my work colleagues for fashion week, I can only say "there goes their diet" as the steak & frites are really worth the calories. It doesn't even come close to a place I would ever recommend or ever come back to. I've had better street meat compared to this steak. The cut of steak was far from tender or flavorful. Very dry, chewy and was more of a chewy roast beef, not a prime cut of steak. You needed the sauce just to help chew it down. The fries were hard and way overcooked. Conventional wisdom dictates that restaurants in the vicinity of the Champs-Élysées should be avoided, since they are mainly tourist traps with mediocre food. Conventional wisdom actually holds true for L'Entrecôte de Paris. Their steak frites are just OK, probably deserving 2 or 2.5 stars. But considering their service is surprisingly courteous, I'll go with 3 stars overall. There is MUCH better steak frites in Paris. Both "Le Relais de L'Entrecote" and "Le Relais de Venise," equally touristy steak frites outlets, are vastly superior. read more

It seems like there are two spots that serve up the same set meal: L'Entrecote and Le Relais de Entrecote and while everyone has their opinion and I haven't actually gotten to compare the two, I can't say what's better. But I can say that this one is everything!! First pro tip, arrive early. We came at 6pm and were able to be seated immediately. Yet by the end of our meal, there was a line down the block. This place isn't huge so a wait in line can mean quite the wait. The set menu is the way to go. It started with a simple salad, but the star of the show is when the sauce come- accompanied by the steak and frites of course. I don't know what is in this sauce but it is SO GOOD. The fries were so incredibly crispy and delicious. They put the steak and fries on a metal plate with candles underneath that keeps the food hot and heated. As a result, the fries get even crispier and taste perfect when you let them soak all up in the sauce. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum!! I will dream of this sauce endlessly. read more

This is a pretty popular and casual steakhouse made famous mainly from their sauce. Got their main steak set that comes with a salad with fries and sauce. The salad was a basic iceberg salad topped with some walnuts served with a dressing similar to thousand island. The steak seemed pretty small and sliced very thinly and spread out over the hot plate. Some parts of it were cooked to a good medium rare, but the edges were a perfect well done. Overall the steak was chewy and unimpressive. Drenching each piece of steak in their sauce was actually able to salvage it. You get an unlimited amount of sauce which taste almost like a creamy dijon mustard which is pretty good, but not sure if it is famous worthy. read more

We got to Laris quite late after traveling for 36 hours and I made a mistake and looked for something to eat fast and being quite late I knew there would be less lane if any. I picked up this restaurant from here being less distance to the hotel. Of course I did not recognize it. Being tired I did not care so we sat down. I should have left knowing it looked different but too tired. The menu had more selection, service was slow. We ordered the steak special. It was duplicate of the real place however the steak was over done, the sauce had more tarragon in it and thicker and lumpier. We ordered desert and that was also not very good. We also try the lamb and it's yummy too. For the salmon, the portion is a little smaller, and choosing green beans to substitute the fries is a great idea because it is just too much fries. The sauce that comes with the salmon is really good, too. This place is pretty crowded and the space is small so might be a long wait if you come during peak hours. read more

They were right. L'Entrecôte is like stepping back in time. It's high volume, limited menu and rapid service with no small talk with your server. The salad was so unusual and delicious. The steak and frites were hot, fresh and perfectly cooked. Seconds will come, just accept it. But force yourself to have dessert anyway. We chose profiteroles and they were good. My husband was supposed to guide us using Google Maps to the big, popular Le Relais de l'Entrecôte since we had been to before, but he put in the wrong name and brought us here. Instead of making the 15 minute walk to the other location, we decided to wait since it was only a 5 minute wait. It was a wonderful alternative! The host sat us in the perfect table upstairs by the window upstairs and our server was so kind and quick. The salad was fine, but we were excited about the main entree. We got the steak frites and it was mostly fries, but they were so crispy that it didn't really matter. The sauce made it even better. The steak was also super soft and delicious, but we were sad we didn't get seconds here like the other location (the only reason we knocked a star). They said we could get unlimited fries, but it felt empty without the steak. If I'm in a hurry or shopping at Champs, I'd definitely come back here (don't you dare go eat at Five Guys). read more

Food is aggressively mid, sauces are all way lumpier and thicker (suspecting more mayo in the supposed DIJON salad dressing and more butter or just poor cooking techniques in the secret steak sauce) and service was strange. The price for the food is outrageous. Ordered the main dish with walnut salad and steak. The salad was salad and walnuts only and it was truly small. When I received the steak it was only half a steak and the "secret sauce" definitely was nothing to write home about. My daughter ordered the prime rib and it was raw, had to send it back. My husband had a Caesar salad and the chicken was rock hard. The French fries and water was the best off the menu. This was my second time here. The food is quite good. Not the best in Paris but at least it's not your typical Parisienne tourist trap. Careful because this place is surrounded by tourist traps that will charge you a fortune for terrible food. Especially on the Champs Elysees. The meat was good although overcooked (we asked for medium and got well done), the fries were excellent and the green peppercorn sauce was also good. It was unpleasantly hot inside, so if you go in the summer be ready for a sauna. Our server was not too pleasant, but this is a touristy place, they aren't trying to build long term customers. read more
