Pretty good! Service was poor, waiter was too busy. Food was okay. Prices were fine! I will say, the French onion soup was worth it!
Long wait, food was terrible and took too long. Asked for medium steak and they gave me a rare, which I could barely chew. Service was not good, our waiter just kinda stared at us. Basically glorified lunch food. When I saw the 1 star reviews for this, I was still optimistic because it wasn't an overwhelming amount of it, but looking back they were completely right.
We came in early to catch dinner before a show and were recommended this place by a friend. The tables so so close together they have to pull tables out just so you can sit down (not uncommon in France). While this was our first dining out experience in France we assumed that this would be a slow experience, we were incorrect. We ordered drinks and appetizers right away but didn't realize they wanted the entire order immediately. We ordered 2 St. Germaine spritz's and decided last minute on a second appetizer so we got the onion tart and the mayonnaise eggs (google said similar to deviled eggs from the states. No. No they aren't). While I can't brag enough about the tart the mayonnaise eggs were VERY mayonnaisy. I wasn't expecting blobs on the plate under the eggs as well as them drowning in it as well. They weren't bad but we didn't love them. For entrees I opted for the beef bourguignon which was phenomenal. The meat was so tender and the sauce has a bacon flavor to it. It was served over a bed of pasta noodles but I bet potatoes would've been even better. My sister ordered the steak frites and while I liked the gravy the steak was horrible. Not only did the flavor taste bad but after chewing for so long I was very turned off. I guess 2 dishes out of 4 being amazing isn't a total loss. The beef bourguignon was actually the best out of the 3 times I ate it around France.
This place is hard to review. On one hand, it has a large, crowd-pleasing menu and is extremely cheap. On the other hand, the food is just so-so and the ambience feels like an upscale cafeteria. These balance out to an "ok" rating in my view. If that appeals to you, great, but I probably wouldn't go again. I visited with a reservation and was seated immediately. But reservations are hard to get and there was a huge line out the door for walk-ins that did not move very quickly. I would definitely not wait, it is absolutely not worth it. Service is very basic. The place is huge and crowded with tables packed together. I got the escargot (6 pieces, 8.40€), Boeuf Bourguignon (12.20€), duck confit w/ fries (12.80€), 50 cl of Cotes du Rhone (7.60€), Profiterole with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce (4.80€), and ile flottante (3.20€). The escargot was delicious and tasted the same as ones I've had at nicer restaurants. The Boeuf Bourguignon looked really unappealing but tasted okay. The duck confit was nicely cooked but needed more sauce and the fries were terrible. The profiterole was enormous and ok. The ile flottante was overly sweet and had some hard crumbled bits on top -- we didn't finish it. Everything looks and tastes kind of cheap, which makes sense given the price.
Not sure why it was so crowded because the food was mid at best. Thankfully we sat by a window because it was hot inside. The waiter took his break while we were eating with no one to take his place so we ran out of drinks and had to flag down someone else. Some of us got steak and it was so well done (even though we said medium rare), it was inedible. I'm not sure what the draw is here other than it was cheap. However, since it was so bad, we had to get more food later so it wasn't that cheap after all.

My server Rocky was amazing once we got inside but the food was a bit bland, at least for American standards. I got the steak with pepper sauce and let me tell you, there was 0 evidence of pepper or even salt. Same with the fries. We also got the pork shank which was very tender, would get that again.The appetizers and desserts were the best part. Ice cream was amazing, so was the lemon tart. They do the simple things well!
When in Montmartre I highly suggest this place. We had a reservation (booked weeks before our trip) on the day we knew we were going to this area. Without a reservation the line to get in looked overwhelming. Even with a reservation at noon we had to wait a bit to get seated. I ordered escargot, beef bourguignon and we shared an appetizer (ratatouille) and I had a red wine. Loved the buttery garlic sauce in the escargot. I tried escargot out of the shell in other places and I prefer this prep with the shell on. It's tricky to get them out but that's part of the fun I think. The beef was tender and it sits on top of a pasta. The ratatouille was also a good dish to try. Bouillons give you that canteen type atmosphere because it's crowded and busy but the servers are very efficient but we didn't feel rushed at all. There are bouillon restaurants in different areas. Best value if you're in Paris for a good and filling meal.

Came here on a Monday afternoon for an early dinner, and was surprised to see it already so busy. Make sure you book ahead to avoid the wait! We got the escargot, duck confit, and leek ravioli, and it was all very good! We didn't know what we were expecting, but we ordered a side of pasta in soup and ended up getting a bowl of boiled macaroni noodles (no soup). Not sure if that's just a cultural misunderstanding, or if there's meant to be more. The tables are tight and although our server was really kind, it was a lot of waiting for her attention. I would still come back here, since the food is consistent and cheap.
First off, be sure you make a reservation or be prepared to stand and wait outside for a VERY long time. We did have reservations so we were quickly seated upstairs. We had a cosy table with neighbors on either side but it's Paris and you expect this. The menu is pretty broad so everyone is sure to find something to eat here. We were blown away by the reasonableness of the pricing here. For us to eat all we had plus a bottle of wine for less than 70 Euros is insane! Definitely the best value in the city!
If you book ahead, you'll be seated, no problem (maybe a few mins wait cause they are always very busy during peak hours). Food is good, & so cheap (including the wine)!
the food here was okay, i feel like it was a little bit bland but other than that it was good. service was okay. ambiance was very parisian and crowded inside but i liked it. the dessert was the best part so if anything i recommend trying some of the dessert

Lots of different French dishes and menus in different languages. It's so busy that there's always a line to get in but worth the wait. Actually only waited about 20 minutes. The servers are friendly and do their best getting to all their tables. Our server was excellent and attentive. Desserts are to die for!!! So many yummy choices. It's a little loud but what do you expect for such a crowded place. Will try the other locations and I'm sure they're all going to be great! read more
Ordered: Eggs Mayonnaise (~€3) White Asparagus (~€5): with mousseline sauce Steak with Fries and Pepper Sauce (~€13) Rice Pudding with Salted Caramel (~€3) Crème Brülée (~€4) Americano (€1 with dessert) Aya's take: Bouillon Pigalle needs no introduction (as it has the most Google reviews in Paris) so definitely make a reservation or be prepared to wait. Nothing on the menu is particularly amazing or extraordinary, however, you can get very affordable French classics. For €13, we got Steak with Fries and Pepper Sauce which was definitely the cheapest we had during our whole trip. The flavor wasn't half bad either! It was pretty tasty, fresh, and filling. Both desserts were also great and for just €1, you can add coffee to that which is unheard of. Decent portions and unbelievably cheap. The Eggs Mayonnaise and White Asparagus were fine but weren't necessary to order, in my opinion. If you're looking to try some classic French dishes at a fraction of the price of other restaurants, this spot is well worth trying at least once. read more
Simple food with tons of value. Over two nights here we had foie gras twice, escargot, and the mayo eggs as starters, needless to say the duck liver pate was the star worth repeating. The others were very average. The beef bourguignon over pasta was very plain, lacking depth. The duck confit and cassoulet were decent. I believe the pork shank was the most exciting dish there, other than the profiterole was incredible...and befits the praise. It IS French "fast food" with great value however lacking the character of a culinary experience on any level. I'd say more of a young persons place. Perfect to chase an empty stomach after an evening of drinks. Here is the SHOCKER...we were seated near the servers station and witnessed the table bread being recycled?!? Any left over bread was being put back into the basket and reserved. Figuring it was customary dismissing it until I read it is illegal and a gross trespass of health and safety regulations. Very popular established restaurant. A must try at least once. Recommend reservations but we walked in around 8pm and the line moved quickly. We were seated within half an hour. Simple menu, and best summary of the food would be good food at great prices (and not necessarily the other way around). Not super fancy fare, but good basic French food. Conveniently located right in front of a metro and bus station. read more

Food: food was so good! I got the beef Bourguignon pasta and it was so good! But be prepared to wait a little longer. Service: service when we went was pretty slow I'm not sure if they forgot about us lol. You have to wait in a few lines before being seated. We waited for about 30-45minutes on a Friday afternoon Ambiance: ambiance is great. The tables are really close to each other to be prepared to to squeeze in and out. There's only one stall for the bathroom so lines can get pretty long since the restaurant is so busy. read more

We found out about this place from travel blogger Nomadic Matt! Since we are staying in Montmartre, we decided to check it out and are glad we did. We came on the early side so didn't have to wait despite not having reservations. It is a busy place, bustling with tables very close to each other (so close that they have to pull out the tables in order to squeeze into the seats). This part annoyed my husband but it really isn't too bad. It took awhile for out server to come to our table for our order but that gave us time to really check out the menu. Once he came and we ordered, the food came out very quickly! My husband had the pollock fillet with capers and anchovies that was served with sautéed zucchini. He also had a side of mashed potatoes. I had the seafood vol-au-vent that was served with a salad. We thought the dishes were very tasty and my dish reminded us both of something our mothers independently made when we were young! Delicious memories! We also shared a 1/2 bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. Overall, this was a nice, inexpensive French meal experience. My husband wants to make plans to come back despite the crowded space! To be on the safe side, we'll make reservations the next time. read more
Very busy restaurant so it was good that we made reservations in advance. I ordered the pork shoulder with porcini mushrooms and sarladaise potatoes. Some parts of the pork were tough and some were fatty and tender. Potatoes were ok, they were more on the mushy side. Creme brulee was good! Service was ok. read more
Waited in line for almost 45 minutes or so to get in but the food was actually pretty good. Our server was actually very, very rushed and essentially just kept hustling everywhere and not really "providing good service". I had full intentions of leaving a 3-star review but then the food made up and server also brought us extra of the baguette bread because my dad saw it on some other table and requested for it. Escargot - Nice flavor here. The parsley added a good touch. The oil and parsley mix also was tasty and nice to have with the bread. Pork Shoulder with Diablo Sauce - This was the best part of the meal! The pork was so perfectly cooked and it was quite a lean piece of meat as well, which we appreciated. And the best spot was that sauce! It was actually proper good amount of spicy and we could have gone for another one for sure. It also came with some green beans on the side so that was nice to get some actual vegetables in! Very good portion size here! Frisee Salad with Candied Poultry Gizzards - It was as the name is - a bowl of the frisee with the gizzards and some croutons on top. There were a LOT of gizzards on there! Good flavor to them too. Beef Bourguignon - beef was cooked well, but flavor was just okay. Good portion size though. And came on a big plate of pasta! Roasted Quarter Chicken (with gravy and fries) - Chicken itself was just so so. Very tender and fell off the bone soft so that was nice but I think it was chicken thigh so quite a fatty piece of meat. Nothing too special about this one so I wouldn't recommend it. Fries were good though. Creme Brulee - top part was actually crispy which was really nice to crack. Flavor was also really good! Only thing is that it felt too cold. This is an amazing restaurant with great quality food. The prices are very reasonable as well. Expect long line and waiting time, but definitely worth it. The dock confit was amazing. French onion soup is out of this world and profiterole is great. read more
So, yes the food is inexpensive. But you get what you pay for. This place is an institution in Paris. I don't understand why. It's not good. The best part was the service. Our waiters were super friendly and funny. They executed our order perfectly. We had Escargot, boeuf Bourguignon, and filet of sole. I couldn't even eat most of it. My hubby ate it cause he didn't want it to go to waste. read more

I have had Bouillon Pigalle on my to do list for some time and I figured since we have tickets for the 9pm show at Moulin Rouge why not do dinner nearby. I knew it was a frugal choice and very popular, proven by the line stretching down the street. We were smart to make reservations and walked right in, no waiting. The prices are insanely cheap. I ordered a bottle of Cote de Rhône for 7.60 euros. Our meals were 12 euro. Profiteroles. All this said, You Get What You Pay For. The food was Blah. Meh at best. You don't come to Paris for Blah/meh !!! My Beef bourguignon was tough and indigestible sitting on a sea of small elbow pasta, plain elbow pasta. The onion soup was ok but with shredded unmelted cheese swimming in it. The profiterole had soft serve vanilla ice cream in a hard shell, not a choux. A very disappointing meal for a restaurant with low expectations. read more

This is a great place for the price If u are looking to try traditional French food on a budget or just want to try something different before going to a fancy restaurant and paying the big bill Line moves quick Food is average nothing spectacular but like I mentioned great place to just try different options for low price Customer service quick and with it being a Tourists area some speak English Open late so tht definitely is in ur favor if ur out past a certain time read more

Went for lunch and got lucky, walk in line was inside the door. Place was packed and like the French, they take their time to eat. A lot of stories and leisure conversations. Servers also knows that pace, not hurrying and no asking how's the food. This is not being rude in French rules so don't be disappointed but just enjoy. Portions are generous and the price is well below in the bistros or restaurants. Definitely recommended! read more

When in France, eat as the French do - apparently between the hours of 8PM and midnight. We went to one of these places I'd stumbled upon researching - Bouillon Pigalle. This place has two locations in the city and is super popular due to its low-cost, quick-service system (trying to mimic the 19th century bouillon establishments catered to working class people). We arrived at 11PM, and the line was still out the door! We ended up waiting about 20 minutes before being sat in one of the many tables. Due to how late it was, we didn't want to eat too much - Jared got duck breast for $12 euro and I got French onion soup ($4 euro) and beef bourguignon for $12 euro. The duck was kind of cold and the beef was a little tough but the flavor was good. The french onion soup was nothing special, something we could have made ourselves. However, for a fast and cheap meal, we couldn't complain! read more

Recommended by locals.. I made reservation month in advance on their balcony. When we arrived they didn't had clear line for the reservation I didn't know I supposed to cut everyone and tell them I have reservation but ok. First they didn't want to let us sit upstairs but then we insisted, we just walked up on the stairs. Because it was so packed on first floor, was so busy and hot too. Food is somewhat ok I guess. Snails were good and steak was ok( as you would expect from french steak), but they didn't had few dishes on the menu and I took beef bourgogne. I didn't like the side dish it came with and they didn't want to substitute it was dry macaroni. Wine was very sour to our taste but at least it wasn't expensive. But I wouldn't go specially there again and wouldn't expect much from this place. read more

Very busy place as the food is cheap. Service was okay and the food comes quick once you place your order. You can see the staff rushing around which might be normal for the restaurant. Got French onion soup, chicken leg with fries, and bone marrow. It was okay, nothing special and I've had better food elsewhere. Good place to go to for cheap and fast food. read more
We decided to check out this spot that someone had recommended. We had to wait in line about 30 minutes to get a table, which was fine and expected. We were just surprised to have waited so long and see so many completely empty tables upon entering. When we were seated, the server came within 5 minutes which was quick, but he wasn't friendly at all, and after this we didn't see him again. We each started with rosé which was fine and a great price. Also, we each got a french onion soup, which had absolutely no flavor. It actually tasted like water with cheese and bread on top. Next, we each got our mains, which again had NO flavor, again tasted like water, no salt, no seasonings, nothing. I was so excited to try multiple things on the dessert menu, but after the appetizer and mains, we decided it probably wouldn't even be worth the ~€4 euros for each dish. Instead, we waited 30 more minutes after we had finished for any employee to come over to our section, and another 10 minutes for the check after we asked. It ended up being €35 which was a great price for so much food and drinks, but didn't even feel worth it with the low quality of food and service. I really wanted to like this place, it was so cheap and had a fun and beautiful interior, but it fell well below our standards. The people at the table next to us also expressed the same feelings as us. If you come here, I would only come with a reservation and only get drinks. read more
