I absolutely loved my experience with L'fay from start to finish. Patti was welcoming, professional, and patient. All of my appointments were timely, and I never felt remotely rushed. I loved the personalized experience offered by L'fay too. I was not the kind of bride that had tolerance for any of the big places with 30 brides running around and pushy attendants. This was much more my speed. I LOVED my gown, LOVED my alterations, and was made to feel so special about my big day. The hair accessory I got was the perfect addition to my look as well. The prices are not cheap, but the quality and attention to detail in every aspect was so worth it. WARNING! DO NOT GO HERE While they have great sales people, the in house seamstress RUINED my dress and then said "whoops - I rushed, my mistake." I have photos before they "fixed it" with my dress having a "witch's costume" hemline. They were able to "fix" the hemline by calling in another seamstress and having her spend more than 3 hours with me, including constant measuring, to make my dress 4" shorter than it should have been in the first place. They then credited me back the alteration fees and promised something additional to come via text and email which never happened. Since that time (June 2018), I've tried dealing with a number of people there and they have pushed me back and forth in communication over and over again, stalling. In the end, no additional credit was given. While having a dress 4" shorter was something I made work with shorter heels and no floor length photos taken, it's a complete disgrace the company couldn't have figured out some way to make things "right." Paying 100% of a dress that you're missing inches from the bottom is not right. read more

My experience at L'Fay bridal was more then just perfect but one of my most memorable moments. The staff greeted me and my guests with a smile and positive energy. My appt was personal and intimate. I couldn't believe I found the dress but it was seriously just meant to be. I highly recommend this bridal suite for any bride it was an experience I will never forget and I can't wait to go back for all of my fittings. They are more then accommodating and reasonably priced with a gorgeous selection including there Berta collection and alteration fees. Run!!! My best friend is in love with the Berta collection and came here with the hopes of finding something similar without the hefty price tag. Our consulant Catherine was extremely rude and impatient. Our bride specifically told her the budget she had and instead of sticking to her budget, she decided to take her to the side and convince her to try on dresses that were way outside of her budget range. At the end of the day we left with a bride that was disappointed because she was interested in a dress that was out of her price range. NOTE to Management: Please encourage your consultants to not show dresses that are outside of the brides budget. Overall I highly recommend going somewhere else. From the moment I called I knew I was going to have a phenomenal experience at L'Fay. I made my appointment with Patti, who was very accommodating with my busy schedule. She made a 5:30 pm appt knowing the store closes at 6:00 pm. I already purchased a dress from another boutique and was dissatisfied. I explained my concerns with Patti over the phone and she left me feeling very confident about our appointment. The boutique is in a quaint location with a private lot. They have a number of dresses on the floor and more in the back. Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted by Patti who offered myself, Mom, and younger sister a beverage while we waited for her to finish her previous appointment. About 5 min later we began our consultation. I reminded Patti of my concerns and goal of the appointment. I tried on the first dress that caught my eye at in the store. Needless to say about an hour later I was signing the contract and had my dream dress!! I was very pleased with her professionalism, understanding, and thoroughness. Although we were in the studio past normal business hours, we never felt rushed at any moment while we were there. If you are looking for an intimate moderate to high priced boutique with personable and friendly staff L'Fay is the place for you! NB. I will follow up with an updated review once I have my dress altered. Updated: HOLY COW. The seamstress there is phenomenal. Jennie totally transformed my dress and created almost a custom top for me. when the dress came in the cup size was two sizes two small. She took some horsehair pieces from the bottom of the gown, some appliqués from the corset and gave me EXACTLY the look I was hoping for. ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC experience here. It has taken me a year to even be able to stomach coming to this site to write this. DO NOT TRUST this company with the dress for the most important day of your life. Unless you are okay with them ordering the wrong one and calling you a month before your wedding to tell you and then replacing the dress with a sample only to botch every single alteration from that point forward. I ended up with not only the wrong dress, but a sample that was altered to look nothing like the sample I tried. My entire chest exposed for all my guests to see. This ruined my day as I was so self conscious. Not to mention it ruined all my photos! When I expressed my disgust with the higher ups in a long letter with photos of the original dress I ordered, the sample I settled for, each horrible alteration that took place, and the finished product they offered to preserve the dress and nothing more. They explained I left with the dress and signed a paper. What else is a bride to do when her wedding is 48 hours away?! She will make sure that you have a positive and enjoyable experience. My alterations were done by Jeanie. She was awesome as well. Very accommodating. She was able to take lace from the sleeve of my dress and use it to cover part of my bust. She did such a ridiculously amazing job! It looked like the dress came like that all along. All of the staff at L'Fay is awesome. Its very noticeable from the moment you arrive that their sole purpose is to make you happy and make sure you stay happy. I met Patti when I came into the shop in Spring 2014. My wedding was in October 2015, this appointment was on the early side, but she was incredibly accommodating and understood why I was there so early! This was the first bridal shop I visited so she helped my to try on a different cuts, fabrics, etc so that I could get a better sense of what kind of gown I was drawn to. She let me also take a look at the racks and try on the gorgeous gown in the window. Since this was the first time I tried on a wedding gown I wasn't ready to commit. Patti didn't pressure me in the least. One month later I returned, I couldn't get the dress from the window out of my head and Patti was so pleasant and helpful! She is such a genuine person. I tried on three dresses: one she thought I might like, the window dress, and one other I saw online. Also, between my first and second appointment she sent me photos of the dress with a white belt instead of champagne (they didn't have the white one in the Chatham store). In the end I was between two -- she helped me to finalize my choice, again without pressure and in the end she brought out sparkling wine to celebrate! Alterations at the shop went well. I had to come in for an extra time because the first seamstress moved on to something new after my first fitting. The new seamstress was extremely diligent. She didn't want to make any mistakes so she remeasured, pinned. She also helped me to add lace straps and a little lace embellishment. The straps were unique and I loved her creativity. I have only written a handful of Yelp reviews because I save them for when I am either horribly offended by a service/product or incredibly impressed/thrilled with one. L'Fay is a case where I am beyond thrilled. They are such an amazing bridal store! I purchased my wedding dress here for my wedding in October. The store is beautiful and clean. The dresses are hung up around the perimeter of the store so you can easily see them all without struggling to push your way through racks and racks of dresses and hangers. The dresses themselves are beautiful and very reasonably priced. The staff is AMAZING. I made an appointment and brought along some of my sisters and my mother. Laura, who works at L'Fay Chatham, was so kind and accommodating from the moment we walked in the door. The first bridal store I went into was not happy that I brought people along, but Laura could not have been more welcoming and kind to them. She is so great at her job, incredibly helpful, honest, sweet - I can't say enough good things. This is the place you want to come to get your dress. They remember your name and your dress. You're not just a number that they try to get in and out of there. They also respect your budget and don't judge. I visited L'Fay with my future Daughter- in -Law and her Mother. My future daughter in law, the bride fell in love with a Berta dress that was twice the amount of her budget. The salesperson told the bride that Berta did not make a standard size wedding gown in her size.....that she was close to fitting into a Berta standard size and was only 1 1/2 inches too big. The salesperson gave the bride a choice of having a Berta gown custom made for her....or she could lose some weight. Really??? You encourage a bride to buy a $10,000 gown with the hope that she will fit into it when it arrives??? You want to feel absolutely wonderful in your wedding gown of choice....not maybe you'll fit into it. My daughter in law left the shop in tears....saying that this designer did not make dresses for women her size.....what an awful, horrible experience - NO we did not have her gown made there....and my daughter in law fell in love with the dress so much that she would have bought the dress - even though it was twice the amount she wanted to spend. read more

I bought my dress here and had the alterations done here. I'm not the type of person who loves shopping for myself, but this was a perfect experience from A to Z. The dresses are all high quality, and the service is outstanding without being pushy. I had significant alterations done, and no request was too big or small for them; they really cared about my vision for the look and the wedding day itself. I would recommend L'Fay only for the experience of trying on different dresses. However, I am extremely upset and disappointed with the tailoring. So, if you purchase a dress from them I don't recommend you do the tailoring there. I went for my final fitting and started to cry in the dressing room because my strapless dress didn't fit the way I envisioned and discussed during my other two fittings. The seamstress said that I just shouldn't stand a certain way and then I'd be fine. Honestly I want to be able to stand however I want at my wedding without my chest (a small chest for that matter) having the ability to fall out! I have tons of strapless dresses and bathing suits where I can move, stand and lay in all different ways and everything's fine. After saying this to her, she refused to fix it saying that it's my body's problem not her problem and that she wouldn't be able to fix it anyway because she's going away. I was then rushed out because I was their last appointment. Unfortunately, I'm not looking forward to wearing my dress for my wedding. read more

My experience at L'Fay was excellent. I worked with Laura and she was incredibly sweet, patient, and very knowledgeable when it came to the types of dresses the salon carries. The salon is very intimate and cozy, and I was the only one in the salon with my family during both of my appointments. Such a nice change from the Manhattan salons that were jam packed with people and dresses constantly. While L'Fay didn't have the largest selection, what styles they did have were elegant, beautiful laces and patterns, and I of course found the dress of my dreams here. They also have a Manhattan salon so I will be getting my fittings done there, but the Chatham salon was one-of-a-kind and I recommend it to any brides that are struggling to find the perfect dress. read more

I worked with Patti, who completely MADE my experience. She was so patient with me and understood the importance of buying the right dress. She didn't haggle or haunt me after I left either, but instead offered her help throughout my search. A few months later, I ended up going with another designer located at another bridal salon. When I received my dress, I was beyond disappointed and decided to sell it and look again. (I know, AWFUL). Who did I contact? Patti! She remembered who I was and offered her assistance to help me get a better dress. I'm going in for the second time soon and can't wait. I came to L'Fay for my first wedding dress appointment ever so was very nervous going into it but my bridal consultant Kathryn put me at ease from the beginning of my visit. As soon as you arrive you feel very welcomed and are offered a glass of champagne to drink whilst you have a look around at all the dresses on display. You have the chance to pull some initial dresses of you choice but Kathryn also listened to what I was looking for in a dress and my budget and pull some great options based on that. Some dresses I would've never thought of trying on surprisingly ended up being some of my favourites! There's no feeling of being rushed or pressured at all and it is definitely a very personalised experience. I had a wonderful wedding dress shopping experience at L'Fay in Chatham, NJ last week! I highly recommend Kathryn, who is very pleasant, professional and patient! She was welcoming of my mom, sister & I and so very helpful while trying on dresses. I found a beautiful Berta dress on Instagram and saw that this shop carried Berta brand, which is what prompted me to make a Saturday appointment. After visiting two other bridal shops in NYC over the weekend, I came back to L'Fay on Monday to say yes to the dress! I'm so appreciative of Mikeala for helping me on Monday and to my surprise, Kathryn showed up on her day off! These ladies are phenomenal and truly made the experience so enjoyable & easy! They provide excellent customer service and gorgeous dresses in a nice, well-kept boutique. My dress arrives in August for my September wedding. I'm so excited to try it on again during fittings. This was the 3rd bridal salon I have visited in search of a dress for my Fall 2014 wedding. The other 2 salons were in California and Saratoga Springs, NY, and though all 3 experiences were great, my experience at L'Fay in Chatham topped them all. Laura assisted me last night (a random Thursday evening) and took the time to understand the details of my wedding and what I liked/disliked in the wedding gowns I had tried on previously. She pulled dresses that I would never have thought to try on and I can honestly say I loved every one of them. Her expertise is apparent as she has so many unique ideas for adding personal touches to gowns, tips for altering the veil after the ceremony for the first dance, and unique ways to accessorize. I eventually tried on a Cymbeline dress that actually made me say (for the first time after 3 attempts) "I think this is the dress," and Laura added a 3/4 sleeve jacket and belt that completed the look tastefully. Above all, when I left the shop last night and got into my car, I realized the store had actually closed 20 minutes prior to my departure, but Laura never once hurried me out of the shop or mentioned how late it was getting. Truly professional. Above all, I would highly recommend this bridal boutique to anyone searching for a classy and unique (yet tasteful) wedding gown, personalized attention in an intimate environment, and an overall wonderful experience. read more

Can I do 0 stars? Our appointment was at 430pm. We arrived 10 minutes early and were quickly told to fill a form. 10 mins after our appointment time, someone came up to us saying to wait because they were busy with someone else. she said to have a seat and walked away- there was 1 chair which was already occupied. They gave us permission to browse but the show room is set up so that each bride set up can see each other in the mirrors and no matter where we went we were in someone's way. We ended up taking our $15,000 budget to another salon where we were treated like humans and were the only people in the entire store. Someone from the salon called 2 hours after we walked out, apologizing for them running late, not a word about how rude they were to us. If you want an individual appointment that will highlight how important every bride should feel when trying on wedding gowns, do not go here. read more

Mind you the shop was empty.They told us go to Dunkin Donuts up the corner. We didn't pick this place so the owner can tell us to wait an extra 10 minutes. They are judgmental and rude. They assumed we couldn't afford most of the dresses. I do not appreciate agism. Just because I'm 24 doesn't mean I can't afford a $7000 dress. L'Fay Bridal is nothing short of amazing! I was worried that I wouldn't find a dress that fit my vision, but Mikeala made it happen! The dresses and accessories that L'Fay carries are beautiful and of superior quality -- their merchandise was the best by far out of the bridal shops I visited. One of my favorite things about L'Fay is the way that they schedule appointments. During my shopping trips and fittings, I was the only bride there, which made me feel super comftorable to try things on without feeling crowded. In addition, the staff always made my family and friends that accompanied me feel welcome! As I live in Virginia (but am from New Jersey) I was only able too make it for fittings on certain occasions -- the ladies at L'Fay always worked with me to schedule appointments that fit my crazy schedule. I have to say, L'Fay gives you the perfect feeling as soon as you walk in. I met Patti when I was driving by the salon and decided to stop in to check out the Berta Collection since I was obsessed with it. I didn't even have an appointment and she was kind and patient enough to let me check out the collection and even try on! Later on in the year, I was interested in checking out the whole collection. I contacted Patti again, and unfortunately the dates they were having the trunk show I was unavailable. But Patti was accommodating and let us come in the day before the trunk show so we were able to check it out! Patti was patient with me and my guests (especially since they were a hard crowd to please). She was by my side for over two hours helping me find the dress that I would love, without being pushy about it. I wasn't very pleased with my experience at L'Fay bridal.. I purchased my wedding dress and the employee gave me an estimated date.. The dress wasn't in store until 3-4 months after the given date... I felt it was ridiculous that the dress took almost a year to be shipped to store.. I would send them emails and they could not give me a definite date. They'd say "it should be in soon.." They finally took me serious when my mother contacted them...If my wedding date was sooner I would have been very crunched for time.. I didn't even trust them with alterations so I went elsewhere. read more

The first thing I did was make a call and set an appointment for the same exact day because I was super excited. The salon is perfect from the price range, to the selection of dresses, to decor, to customer service. Kate was the name of the woman who helped me and she truly made me feel special. She was very kind and extremely patient and also helped me figure out what style I was looking for. It was way harder to find a style than I thought it would be, especially with my wedding being so close to the date - this being my first time that I'm dress shopping for my wedding day, I didn't know what I wanted but she helped me figure it all out. I wish every vendor was a great as they were to me. The next day after I purchased my gown, I was not sure about the color and Laura guided me to the perfect choice. I chose L'Fay Bridal because my fiance decided to get involved after not finding my wedding gown and found this amazing bridal salon. We read all the reviews and this was rated #1 in New Jersey. The moment I walked in, I knew why! The gowns are all very clean and the store in gorgeous. Other bridal stores I went into the dresses were very yellow and the lace was torn. The service compared to other salons does not even compare. Everywhere else its clear to see that sale in more important than anything else. It's a very big decision and I feel that consultants should be more understanding and warm. Instead at other salons, I was being pushed to gowns I did not like. This was a wonderful experience. Even now, almost two months later, I found my dress online and the bottom seemed more full on a different bride than the one I tried on. I called Laura and she put me completely at ease. There are some beautiful dresses in this shop, but my experience was very bad. Everything was great at the first visit when I chose my dress but it went downhill from there. I received my dress 2 days before my wedding and it wasn't correctly tailored (after 3 fittings!). I had to wear a dress that didn't fit my body correctly on my wedding day and it ruined a bunch of pictures from the back. Specifically, the zipper didn't lay flat on my back and was all bunched up. The underneath layer also was bunched and showed weird lines. The sample dress would have been better than the dress that was SUPPOSED to fit me like a glove. The ladies in the shop also commented that they thought I would lose more weight before my wedding (i'm not overweight but I guess they assume you should be a stick figure with no boobs). Unprofessional and unskilled tailor. Very unhappy and sad we spent all that money at a below average shop. read more
