I tend to be a bit indecisive, and they were more than happy to answer all my questions. The food and cocktails absolutely blew me away... the freshest, most balanced meal I have had in a very long time. Will 100% be back here... one of my favorite restaurants now.

We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.

They were able to take us with no prior reservation which was great! Really authentic ambiance, it feels like the place has been there for a long time. The staff is very welcoming and friendly and spoke both French and English. The menu also was in both languages which was uber convenient. We went with combo dinner that included (1) a choice of an appetizer, (2) a soup or small salad, (3) main course, and (4) coffee/tea. The pricing for the whole thing was very affordable - 38 to 52 Canadian dollars which is a steal if you are in the US. The desserts are at extra cost - 7-9 Canadian dollars... Both my friend and I enjoyed our food. The highlight was the melon with blue cheese appetizer - very elegant and eclectic dish that doesn't compare to anything I tried before. The rabbit leg with prune sauce was also unusual and a must-try. Definitely coming back when I'm in the area next time.

The vegetables were boiled to insipidness. Our waiter was up-beat and very attentive, describing the menu in glowing terms and making a valiant effort to raise our dining experience from the dead. But when you're dead, you're dead. We really wanted to like this place as a friend, who knows food, had recommended it. He enjoyed a meal there several years ago. I hope that they rediscover their glory days.

The restaurant was packed and we were lucky to have gotten the last table. It was outdoors --- seems they do not always have the sidewalk tables set up -- and a lovely day for us to be outside, shaded by the building, gazing up at a church steeple not far down the street and listening to the native French speaker chatting away in the r neighborhood. We enjoyed 2 savory crepes : ham and sausage. We loved! 2 dessert crepes: pear and apple We recommend.

All crepes are freshly cooked on traditional billig iron griddles, available in both savory and sweet flavors. I tried the duck confit with goat cheese, and it was incredible. The duck meat is tender and juicy, paired perfectly with crispy yet soft buckwheat crepe crust. Caramelized onions blend smoothly with rich cheese, bringing out such a savory and satisfying taste. Pair it with local cider or fresh Guinness draft beer, and your taste buds will be totally satisfied. A well-loved spot on Rue Saint-Jean in Old Quebec. Expect a short wait on weekends. After your brunch, you can easily wander around nearby bookstores and vintage shops for a nice stroll. Rating: 5/5

Old wooden snow shoes on the ceiling, sharpie written signatures on the old walls, window sills etc. with shutter style windows that open to rue St. Louie. I had their version of shepherds pie and it was the best one I've had in 3 decades including those I've tried in England, Scotland and Ireland!! Well balanced combination and smooth mash potatoes. Their homemade ketchup is amazeBallS! It does NOT look like Heinz by the way. I tried to buy some at their store next door but were out of it :/. To put that in perspective, you can get a 14 oz steak for $70 at the fancy steak joint nearby. Come here for the vibe, the $5 hand made taffy roll (that you can get for $3 in the corner store) but watch out for the waiter's upsell recommendations. If you bring the kids, may be the kids plats is the way to go as you get the Taffy included.
