We came for breakfast/brunch time while visiting the city. The food was a bit expensive, but very tasty. It was a unique dining experience. The quirky decorations offered a very Canadian experience. The server was quickly accommodating in both English and French. Both meals were delicious. We opted for the $12 mimosa (with $2 refills) available at brunch. Unfortunately, it was very hard to track down our server after our initial order and we we're not able to get more than one refill despite arrive 90 minutes before the offer was up. Besides that, I would recommend adding this to your Quebec City itinerary.

The duck wings were slathered to an excessive degree with an overly sweet sauce. The foie gras was extremely rich while the assorted nuts and berries were again sugar packed. The shepherd's pie was filling and felt like a complete meal. Pork ribs may have been a little overwhelmed by the bbq coating.

Sugar Shack Plate - The Big One La Tourtiere Facing Buche

La Buche in the slow season is still very popular, we were lucky to be there just as they opened for brunch and by the time we were finished there was a line already. La Buche is a Quebec City must visit. They have a traditional cottage feel interior setting and a cozy table/bench style tables. The decorative items are very French Canadian in the style of a cabin and their menu items are very local. Beware (for good reasons) that all their items are basically sweetened with maple syrup! It was delicious. We had the: - Maple Syrup Cola; it was VERY fizzy so drink it fast and it is fairly sweet - LA TOURTIÈRE FAÇON BÛCHE; a bit on the dryer side, this is a classic meat pie with potatoes, it is a hearty meal - ASSIETTE D'LA CABANE - la totale (Sugar Shack Plate - The Big One); highly recommended if you don't know what to order and want a taste of everything... they crepes was delicious, the sausage, eggs, etc. all drowned in maple syrup, the fruit ketchup was also a nice surprise and worth a try, it was due to this experience that I am a bit obsessed with fruit ketchup now (a ketchup, tomato + vinegar base with fruits like apples, pears, peaches, etc. plus more spices and pearl onions) At La Buche, you can purchase some souvenirs and some of their signature items like their fruit ketchup and maple syrup. It is also offered at their attached store (which was closed for the season) as well as at some of the local stores in the city. It is a great deal/price compared to other local prices. However, if you do want to bulk buy maple syrup, go to a local market/grocer for a better deal. Service at La Buche was amazing, the server took care of everything and the food came out really quickly. As with most things in Quebec, there is absolutely no rush with your dining experience and everything was delicious.

We came around 2pm for brunch (which ends at 3). There were three parties ahead of us, one of them was a group of 16 which we all waited outside. The place has lots of tables and can definitely accommodate big parties hence the party of 16! The decor is super cute and the atmosphere is lively. I love a hearty brunch, and the Sugar Shack plate was perfect -- a little bit of everything, but in real portions, not just tiny bites. The meat was a bit dry on its own, but pairing it with the beans made it much better. We also tried a crepe and it was honestly the best savory crepe I've ever had. The gravy was heavenly, and we were literally scraping every last drop off the plate. Bathrooms are downstairs and coed, with stalls lined along one side of the room. The walls go from floor to ceiling, so privacy is still good. The sink situation is kind of funny since it's a bathtub, but it was a bit awkward to use. Overall, I loved this place and honestly regret not coming back for dinner while we were in town. Would definitely return!

I enjoyed the most delightful oatmeal breakfast of my life served in charming saucepan. The rustic decor of the restaurant is transporting and the staff are nice and kind. After visiting LA Buche, oatmeal at home will never be able to compete!

I had a great time at La Bûche. We ordered poutine, French toast, and tried two different beers, and everything really captured that hearty, comforting Québécois feel. The food was tasty and satisfying, and it paired perfectly with the relaxed, rustic vibe of the space. The service was excellent -- friendly, professional, and quick, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The venue itself was amazing, with such a fun, cozy atmosphere that makes it stand out. Even the bathroom was incredible, which says a lot about the attention to detail throughout the restaurant. Overall, La Bûche offered a memorable dining experience that was as much about the warm hospitality and atmosphere as it was about the food and drinks. PS. Our server was womderful but obsessed with going to the US to eat at Olive Garden and I don't know if I can support that.

The restaurant is cozy and the walls are covered in cute decor. The servers are very welcoming and had great recommendations. I was told to order the famous French onion soup. The soup is savory with a sweet note at the end. We also had the poor man's pudding with foie gras and bacon, it is an appetizer but could be enjoyed as a sweet and savory dessert. The dish that brought light to our waitresses eyes was the deer tartare entree. It was perfect!

The poutine here was absolutely delicious. The onions in the French onion soup were too sweet, but the Shepherd's pie was quite tasty. The waiter did hand us the wrong bill on accident and we had to ask for the correct bill. The ambience was amazing and cozy. The decorations really added to the experience. The bathroom is also decorated in a very unique way.

The pork platter, the beef French fries and salmon and soup, salad.

Ambience is at the right place. Service was just ok not a full service. Food was overrated so greasy and meat is over cooked and dried for the pork platter. Worth the visit due to high rating but definitely not the food itself.

Beautiful restaurant nestled in old Quebec City. We found this spot on a food tour and came back on our own the next day! Delicious light eggs filled with a mild cheese and sautéed mushrooms, side of sweet apples and savory potatoes- loved every bite! My husband enjoyed the breakfast sampler with small portions of crepe, potatoes, meats and beans! Nice to try multiple small bites!! We enjoyed our breakfast with a view of the busy city streets ! Tip- very popular spot, get there early or make a reservation, especially if you prefer a table with a view.

Immediately when you walk inside you're welcomed by a rustic environment and an old school feel. The place is huge with 4 different sections of the restaurant you can sit at. Went here for breakfast with family and they had some great choices. Their menu is a school book which we loved. The service was great and our waiter was attentive. I ordered the lumberjack casserole which kept me full for a while. I got their crepe on the side which was tasty but covered in a bit more sauce than my liking. Some of their other breakfast items that were more simple like the eggs, potatoes, and ham were good but needed a bit more flavor (what I heard from my family members), but still good. Overall, Great place to stop for breakfast in Old Quebec!

Visited La Bûche around 2 PM and it was super busy, but well worth the wait. The service was surprisingly fast and friendly despite the crowd. The food is heavy in the a good way. The crepe I ate was absolutely memorable (in a good way). The brunch tray was also a good choice. If you are in Quebec City, you should try out this place!

Cozy Quebecois Comfort with Serious Flavor La Bûche was one of the highlights of our Quebec City trip--authentic Quebecois cuisine served in a warm, cabin-chic atmosphere that feels both rustic and playful. You walk in and immediately feel like you're in someone's mountain lodge, complete with woodsy décor and friendly, upbeat energy. We came hungry--and thank God we did. Here's what we had: Soupe aux pois - Classic and comforting, this pea soup set the tone with rich, hearty flavor. Pâté chinois - Think shepherd's pie, Quebec-style. Creamy potatoes, savory meat, and a layer of sweet corn--simple but delicious. Pouding chômeur - A must-try. This maple-soaked cake is gooey, rich, and straight-up addictive. It's called "unemployed man's pudding," but it tastes like a millionaire's dessert. Small Labatt 50 - Cold, classic, and perfect with the heavier dishes. 6 ailes de lapin - Rabbit wings! Super tender with a slightly gamey kick--definitely a unique treat. Pain boule - A crusty round of fresh bread to soak it all up. Tourtière - The star of the night. Rich, flaky meat pie with a deeply satisfying savory flavor. Worth every bite. All that for around $132 CAD for two people including tax--and totally worth it. They even offer 15% off at the boutique next door when you show your receipt, which is a fun bonus. Whether you're a foodie or just curious about Quebecois comfort food, La Bûche delivers big flavor in a down-to-earth setting. It's the kind of meal that sticks with you (in the best way). Can't wait to go back and try more!

Absolutely adorable restaurant outside and inside. You feel like you're in a rabbit burrow. The decor is carefully thought out and charming. The pulled rabbit poutine was great with a mustard sauce instead of the brown gravy you usually get with poutine. The small appetizer poutine was already the perfect size to share along with our smoked duck winter salad and onion soup. Onion soup was made with ale and was covered in cheese. The only thing was that I wished the soup had more broth than cheese. But the onions were tender and cooked down thoroughly. The cheese pull you get is foot long! The broth had a depth of flavor that is not replicated elsewhere. I had the honey pie years ago and remembered that it was sweet, but very good. We didn't have room for dessert, but the maple amaretto creme brulee sounded amazing. All in all, a great meal everytime.

We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.

We were underdressed, but the host basically was like "the dress code is only for the waitstaff, you are fine." So the place is definitely welcoming and had a nice vibe. Waitstaff was fully bilingual though the vibe of the place is more Francophone than Quebec tourist. The food is cooked technically very well, though the portions are small, particularly our scallop appetizer which was maybe 2 scallops. The food was very good, but for the price it wasn't amazing, amazing. My wife said her trout for example was a bith mushy. I had the beef and it was very good. I'd happily it that and the scallop dish (maybe I'd order two, lol) again. Cocktails were also very good. Then there was the pre-dinner mackrel rolled in seaweed. Totally fine but an odd choice to give to all the diners. Also, the bread was only so-so (I got a better loaf tonight at Farm Boy) and the pepper butter and fois-gras butter were sort of tasteless. So for me, it is a 4, but except for a restaurant I ate with friends in Montreal in 2018 (the name of which I am forgetting) and a really excellent spot on Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, the it is probably the best restaurant I've eaten at in Quebec.

Then you enter their glass ceiling green house room where it's an eclectic but classy collection of plants, art, and decor. Their WINE MENU was an insane list & came as a book that was 50+ pages long!! Along with a bottle of wine, lovely complimentary bread & butter & amuse bouche....here's what we ordered: THE FOIE GRAS EXPERIENCE (5/5) - so fun getting to mix and match all 5 forms of foie gras. The most mind blowing one HAS to be the brûléed/caramelized foie gras in the little dish. Smokey, rich and savoury! LOBSTER BISQUE (5/5) - love the large chunk of fresh lobster. I enjoyed that it's not mashed up with everything and I get to enjoy the textures and flavour pairing. Jean-Luc Boulay Signature dish: Squab from Turlo's farm (5/5) - so many things to rave about with the dish. You simply MUST try this, truly a signature dish. EVERYTHING was amazing, and that stuffed mushroom took it to the next level for me. RACK OF LAMB (5/5) - beautiful cut of lamb (not fatty like how most other restaurants are). It's also presented/deconstructed so nicely for ease of eating! The Cannelé (5/5) - DREAMY dessert. It took me by surprise with the caramelized crispy cross-sectioned Cannelé sandwiched with rum mousse and ice cream. The Imperial (4/5) - great praline dessert
