SO and I stopped here for dinner a few days ago en route to QC. It was our first time in Quebec…read moreand learned that it's challenging to find English speakers in restaurants of smaller Quebec towns (versus Montreal and Quebec City where we hardly experienced any difficulties). However, if you learn some basic words and phrases, then that will go a long way towards forming a mutual understanding that you went out of your way to visit their establishment to get some of their food in your belly. Note, the younger the wait staff, the higher the likelihood that they will speak some English. We started off with the shrimp cocktail in a sauce that wasn't the basic cocktail sauce you get in the states, but something with a little flair and small dollops of a garlic ranch cream. Different, yet tasty! SO then had the duck confit and mushroom risotto...I took a few pleasing bites of the duck, which was a 1/4 size, tasty thigh-leg, and the risotto, which had a few varieties of mushrooms and was nicely seasoned. I had the flank steak cooked medium, which was accompanied by a nice vegetable medley of potatoes, peppers, carrots and asparagus along with some caramelized shallots with bacon...a tasty and hearty dish! Overall, the service was slow, but the food was good. If I could have schmoozed the staff in French, then I'm sure the service would have been faster.

Nice ambiance. We chose to sit inside. The food was fantastic! Great presentation! Wonderful…read moreflavours! The service was quick, professional and efficient. The streets were closed to autos which made the experience even nicer, with the streets being busy with pedestrians instead of vehicles.

Coming from a country of freedom and overly sized portions, I had no idea what some of these foods…read morewere, but they were really good. The tea they served us was amazing and went with maple syrup, the soup went well with the pork skins, and the classic pancakes, sausage, eggs, and ham breakfast was just amazing. The circular fries were amazing and I love radishes so I was snacking on that during my time there. I loved how they always checked up on us and asked if we needed any more food. Also, they had live music and (sadly did not record) they let us use some music spoons and jam out with them. Ended dancing with my family there and had a really good time!

The servers bring the food out on carts, and lunch is served family style. There's a container of maple syrup on every table, and they put syrup on everything. The lunch consists of pea soup with pork rinds, ham & baked beans, country fried potatoes, and meat pie. Dessert is pancakes with maple syrup (surprise!) The food is decent (3/5), but you really come here for the experience. Throughout the meal there is an accordion player, and diners are encouraged to go up and play along with clapping wooden spoons. It can get quite boisterous. After the meal, we go outside and see how they make maple taffy and hear about their maple syrup manufacturing process. Overall, it was a fun experience.
