I called this week for a last minute "please save my hair before I cut it myself" appointment. I'd had a TERRIBLE cut in October and hadn't had it cut since. (yes, it was THAT BAD). Erica. Ask for Erica. Before I go into why you should ask for Erica - she cut my hair for my 6th, yes SIXTTH donation of 12" or more to CHILDREN WITH HAIR LOSS. MY hair will once again provide a $1500 natural hair wig to a child at no cost to their family. I am happy to know my donation will remind a young child there is still kindness in the world. My wife has been a long time client of Angela Hakala. Angela has always done an amazing job with my wife's hair. I'd say the most memorable time would be a few years ago. Angela did my wife's hair for our wedding. My wife is a naturally beautiful woman. I'm not talking a little bit pretty. But she is truly a gorgeous woman. But Angela has some SERIOUS talent because in the ten years I've known my wife I've never seen her done up as beautiful as the night of our wedding! My wife wore her hair down with the most amazing curls I've ever seen! I don't know how Angela did it, but these curls lasted ALL day long in the hot Sonoma sun in late August, and continued to hold strong well into the night! I had an overall good experience here but not exemplary. I went shortly before the new shutdown, in November. Ive been very strict about isolating during covid except to come here to get my hair cut; it was so long it was giving me headaches and driving me crazy. - From a covid safety standpoint, I felt they did okay. They obviously put in effort to distance the chairs and sanitize, but it's a big and busy salon so there's only so much you can do! - My stylist was friendly, and I loved the treat of someone else caring for me, washing my hair etc. - My haircut itself was just okay. It was reminiscent of the cuts I used to get in college at my $30 berkeley salon. Gets the job done but doesn't stand out. This cut was $100. Don't go to Tina!!! I went to Tina when my stylist of 4 years Laura was booked for a while. My 4 star review is for the overall service I've received so I don't want the salon average to go down because of one stylist, Laura has been great and seems people love the other stylists. Tina, however, did the opposite of what I asked and I'm going to be paying to correct it and hating my hair for 2-3 years until it grows out. What I asked for, in very clear language: 30% less highlights than I currently had, lower maintenance situation with just enough highlights to blend with some minor grays, closer to my natural hair color. I shared that as I had gotten older, my hair is more fragile and I need less coloring, she agreed thats it's a thing as we get older. I even said I'd prefer to err on the side of darker, I could always add more light later. She knew it was too light when she took it out. But it's not just that it got too light, I had double the amount of hair highlighted, versus the 30% less that I requested. I did reach out to her to correct, she did but left the new lowlight color on for 10 min and it washed out after the 1st wash 3 days later. $275 for color only, worse job I've ever had done, most expensive, and when I texted her that it washed out after 1 wash she didn't reply, so unprofessional and doesn't stand by her work. I'll have to shorten my interval for coloring to correct this due to the harsh line for the next 2 years, so in addition to screwing up my hair for years, it'll cost more and take more time out of my schedule. read more

I was referred to this salon by one of their longtime customers, my coworker, and even she was shocked at the lack of service I received. I spend a lot of money on my hair when I get it cut and colored and really wanted to go somewhere professional and obviously a place that can't even return a TEXT message is not one of those places. I had called and texted a stylist named Kelly on August 5th of this year and almost two months later....still nothing. So extremely rude. Haley Lucero is PHENOMENAL. I have been getting my hair highlighted for the past 10 years by different stylists, and no one has ever made my hair look half as good as Haley did. I got a partial blonde highlight and hair cut, and Haley knocked it out of the park. Some hair stylists would just throw in a dozen foils and call it a day for a partial highlight, but Haley went the whole nine yards with countless foils and gave me the most beautiful multi-dimensional blonde highlights I've ever seen. Haley listened to what I wanted, and delivered exactly what I envisioned and more! Not to mention she made me feel comfortable right away--sometimes I get antsy sitting in a chair for a few hours, but I felt right at home and could have hung out even longer. I saw her posts on a local group on Facebook and thought I'd give her a try. I've always wanted to be the person that had a facial done once a month, but never found the right person/place...until now. Hayley is a true professional. She knows what she is talking about and how to really take care of your skin. I'm always so relaxed while I'm there and afterwards. I'm pretty sure I've fallen asleep a couple of times. She is friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk with. I feel so lucky to have found Aimee in Novato after moving here from out of the area almost a year ago. I like Angela Rose so much that I followed her from Mill Valley to Novato-- a drive for me but well worth it for the cut and color she gives me. Her haircut is perfectly shaped and the color tint looks so natural. We met when she did my daughter's wedding hair after a botched try with a different stylist and Angela gave her a beautiful updo that looked natural and stayed in place all night. Then I started going to Angela Rose and couldn't be more pleased; several friends of mine are now going to her too based on my recommendation and love her as well. I can not begin to explain how AMAZING Brie is. I have had my hair done by her about 5 times now and every single time I go to work after having my hair dyed and styled I get the most compliments. Brie is honest (exactly what I have been looking for in a stylist); she will tell you the truth about the colors/styles and will not try to up-charge you or do something to your hair that she does not think will look good. She is a true wizard with color and can mix a bajillion colors together to get you EXACTLY the same shade as the photo you bring in. Attn: Shop Owner - I don't know how well any of the ladies do hair. The 1 star is for your shop's unprofessional service before I could even get my foot in the door. I left a message with the shop to schedule a partial highlight. They did not return my call for 2 days so I called again. As I was leaving another message, someone picked up the phone and said that I was the last one to call back as she had returned all the other messages, but she forgot to call me back. So, I made the appointment with Susan. Four days prior to my appointment, I had to cancel due to work. I left 2 messages on Susan's personal cell phone, and she has not returned my calls. I also left 2 messages on the shop voicemail. Neither have returned my calls. I was trying to be courteous by calling several times so that they they have enough time to fill my spot. However, since they were not professional in returning my 4 calls, I will not be rescheduling an appointment at this shop. I see there's are a few other customers that have commented on this issue. I know I will be telling my friends of your shop's unprofessional service. read more

I understand that they may not feel comfortable doing new techniques, however I felt belittled as I was there due to two hair dressers talking to me as if I was 5 years old while explaining to me they could not do my hair. It may have been the time restraint that we had on my appointment, but I felt as if I was in a frantic environment not suitable to get my hair done in. I never write reviews but today I feel the urge to do so. I had the worst experience at this place. I searched and investigated many salons to find the perfect one. I booked my appointment with Angela Hakala weeks ago and the day of my appointment, she asked me if I could wait almost 40 minutes because she started with another client of hers who is "very special" and could not say no. I find this very unprofessional. Not just that but she tells me that she would not be able to do as she promised because of timing. Moments later I decide to cancel and she does not even apologize or try to stop me from leaving. I am very upset and I have never been treated the way she treated me. She knows how to cut it so it feels thick, silky, healthy, and precisely and neatly cleaned up without being chopped to pieces, and losing precious inches. I always hated getting a haircut from stylists who were scissors-happy so when I left, half my hair had been chopped off and over-blown and I looked like a soccer Mom (apologies to soccer Moms, but that's not my look!) Brie is also a great colorist, whether hiding the gray roots or adding some spark with highlights, the outcome is subtle and glamorous! So happy we have this kind of talent in Novato! She recently moved from her location in Sebastopol (near my house) to Novato (L Paradis Salon) and I drive 45 minutes now to go see her because she is totally worth it. I started getting facials in my teens, growing up in Southern California my mom would frequently take me for Erno Laszlo facials in Beverly Hills (spoiled!)! So now that I've tasted the honey I can't go just any where for a facial...... I am super, super picky!! Marianne does it all (Microderm, high frequency, steam, extractions, massage) and she does so in a very skillful manner using only the BEST products! If you get the European Facial you will just melt. She gives great skin care advice and is really knowledgable and active in the industry. My skin always looks great afterward and I go make-up free with confidence. She is the best at shaping my brows (whenever I go to someone else I just end up kicking myself)! Aimee is amazing! She does an incredible job on both my haircuts and highlights. When I started going to Aimee, I had had a terrible experience with my former hairstylist. My hair was over-processed, damaged, and breaking off in large chunks. Aimee was able to salvage as much of my length as possible while removing much of the damaged hair. She gave me a cute haircut, and made my hair much healthier. At subsequent appointments, Aimee expertly cut and highlighted my hair. I waited a decent number of months before returning to Aimee, and during that time, my highlights grew out leaving a practically no line of demarcation. I was very impressed with how naturally and attractively my highlights grew out. I highly recommend Aimee. My hair is now healthy and long thanks to her expertise.
