That's right -- set the mood for ur ultimate New Hampshiran beach day. Smack a beachball, David. Slurp a wine cooler, Darlene. Hold a hermit crab captive (they don't have feelings, silly). Elevated Wake, takes water sports to a new level…read more Bottom Line up Front: Customer service is definitely priority number one. Having used other water sports companies in Lake Winnipesaukee, Elevated Wake, exceeded expectations. Also, ask for Ryan and Alex! THE GOOD: Elevated Wake was Great! From the pre-flight the night before, the coaching by the crew, to the playlist during the trip, this place reigned supreme. Preflight: they stopped by the night before to make sure they knew where we were located; then they showed up the next day a few minutes early to ensure we got our full scheduled time. Additionally, they had all the gear on board to allow adults and kids to water ski, wake surf and tube. We had used other companies (not to be named here) the last two years, which dropped the ball in that area. Coaching: Ryan and Alex were spectacular! They had great patience, knew exactly what to say and do and when to say and do it. They were able to get the young kids in our group up and skiing within a few runs. Alex (who happens to be on a college water-skiing team in Florida) took the time to work with our kids and physically demonstrated the steps to stand up on skis using the tow rope. She then had them repeat the steps before getting in the water. The results success. Alex and Ryan(who was the Captain at the time) had great crew coordination and were able to effectively communicate take-off and acceleration speeds. Ryan was the coach for wake-surfing and he did a phenomenal job. He easily explained body positions using analogies, such as the gas pedal is the forward foot and the brake is the back foot, and coached body position to enables surfers to get into the sweet spot in a few tries. They both get A-pluses on a job well done! Playlist: Everything goes better with great music and Ryan's playlist was Sierra Hotel (military speak for awesome)! He had summer tunes from the sixties to the present; from the Beach Boys to Boston, Jimmy Eat World to Jack Johnson, Bob Marley to Sublime, he had a great playlist! He knows his music and we had some great discussions. THE BAD: The only thing bad was that we did not book more time. THE UGLY: Absolutely nothing! They nailed it. I was so impressed that I was trying to recruit both Ryan and Alex. Where others fail, Elevated Wake Prevails!

This inn has a back to the past feel that is perfect for those quiet travelers who can appreciate…read morethe solitude and peace of nature. It is a block away from the Atlantic Ocean and beach. It is operational seasonally and closes the end of October. After reading recent reviews, the facts in them are true! This is not a HOTEL, there are no elevators, minibars, pools, daily maid service and plenty of stairs to climb. The place is a couple of hundred years old but pretty well maintained and my room was very clean. I booked a larger room on the first floor that was pretty quiet and very clean. The furniture was basic, had a minifridge and large bathroom. Coffee and muffins were put out for all at 7 AM and coffee and cookies at 2 PM. There is a restaurant on premises that serves breakfast starting at 8 AM and dinner from 4 to 9 PM. The bar is open during dinner hours only. So, this is a basic B&B in an out of the way beach town. DO NOT come here if you need modern furniture/wall art, minibars, pools, in room coffee or need pampering. Do not bring kids. Stay at one of the chain motels along the highway. You'll be happier!

(SIDE NOTE: I usually come to Higgins during the off season, so I can't speak to what it's like in…read morethe height of summer.) I always like walking Higgins. There's a shipwreck from 1897 there! I don't know if any other locals have noticed, but it seems like it's less and less exposed (the sands seem to be shifting a lot) these past few years. But the last time we came at low tide, it *was* there with its incredible ecosystem that exists in its adjacent tide pools! Higgins is super popular with: 1. Surfers! 2. People walking their doggos! 3. Plovers! There is an incredible amount of signage here in spring/summer educating and informing folks about where they can't bring their dogs because of the nesting area of our endangered/near-threatened shorebirds. If you're visiting: please, please pay attention to this and respect where both you and your four-legged friend can't run around in. It's tough parking here (from May 1st to September 15th if you park on the road you have to pay an hourly fee; there's also a public lot a few blocks away that's $10 a day), but it's a beautiful space with an expansive stretch of sand with a tidal river to the left.

The two instructors (10 and under needs their own instructor for safety) were great. Folks working the rental side chatted with me about board size and told me about folks bigger than me that come in to surf. When we got on site the waves were about 1 foot and the instructors offered me a credit because I am a big guy and they said the waves were probably not big enough for me to get a real lesson. I chose to go ahead mostly to hang with my son. They had my boy up and riding in no time. I was up as well, but not for long because I ran out of wave energy quickly due to the small waves. But they were focused on having fun and were always making suggestions and pointers while complimenting what I did get right. We are already planning our next surf outing and will be renting from the good folk at Cinnamon Rainbows.

After I called the surf shop to advise them that there was no instructor at the meeting location, I was told who we were supposed to have as an instructor apparently "had a mixup in his schedule" is what the young lady said when calling. This isn't the first time this has happened. When we did this last year same situation of a schedule mixup. The young gentleman at the shop where you pick up your wetsuits are very pleasant and helpful. I was later called by one of the managers to let me know that they were refunding for the full cost of the lesson and that we would still get our lesson. They said they were refunding to apologize for the inconvenience of waiting over 30 minutes past our lesson time for an instructor to arrive.
