I wrote an English and Brazilian Portuguese version of this review!…read more Wow! Where do I begin? Food five stars! Staff five stars! Venue five stars! It's been a long time since I have personally been around a room full of Brazilians outside of Brazil and felt so happy to be there! My wife and I were looking for a place to watch the Brazil versus Haiti, World Cup game and call a place where I took my first Portuguese lessons 17 years ago called Bossa Nova Brazil. A nice lady on the Phone recommended Brazil bistro and I'm sure glad she did! Outside of my mother-in-law (and my wife) this was one of the best sitdown, traditional Brazilian meals I've had in my life! I didn't catch his name, but I will on Wednesday when we go back to watch the Brazil v Scotland game. Kudos to the chef! He came out several times and was very nice and mingle with everyone and complimented me on my Flamengo jersey The zoo was so fresh and well seasoned. They cooked picanha steak to perfection The Feijão tropeiro, coxinhas, pastel de queijo and much more was so good! I didn't get a chance honestly to try the pastel, but the table next to us had two of them! If this place was closer to where I live, I probably would eat here every other day Outside of going to Brazil this was the best experience I've had in a long time sitting down, enjoying the food, people and the culture and futebol I wish I could give this place 10 If you've never been to Brazil, but want a little taste of it and you're in the El Cerrito California area it's definitely worth stopping by! Brazilian Portuguese: Uau, por onde eu começo? Comida: cinco estrelas! Atendimento: cinco estrelas! Ambiente: cinco estrelas! Eles fizeram a picanha no ponto perfeito.

This was a very confusing experience to find!…read more When I came up on the door, I thought I was in the wrong place and was about to step into an insurance office or something. I nearly walked away from the door when it buzzed and I poked my head in. There's quite a variety of goods here--more Brazilian groceries and goodies than I've seen anywhere else. The prices looked fair for all the (likely imported) foods. It's clean and small, and street parking could be difficult on busy days.

Yep, every time a new family member starts in the business they see me and start talking to me in Brazilian. They've even taught me some of Brazilian Portuguese which is such a beautiful language- but that's hardly the only reason I go there. they have a little tiny but well stocked grocery store that's a culinary adventure into Brazil. they also have a lot of regular customers for their Cheese Bread and some time of sausage I have yet to try but looks pretty good. Honestly I started going there because they were near one of my then children's Saturday activities and they had ice cream treats that were much more affordable than the local hipster fru fru place. but each time I went back I found something new. Like really good hibiscus tea, or the hollow chocolate easter eggs that I learned are dereguir for gift giving in Brasil. And then of course, there's the community bulletin board, mostly in Portuguese, but also advertising English such things as Brazilian festivals, local Fado concerts and Festa Junina - a very special fun Brazilian holiday that takes place around the summer solstice. It's worth hitting the button and letting them buzz you in. no the store doesn't look like much from inside, but sometimes the best presents are in little packages. Also, the same family runs a tax and insurance business, and if you need to ship stuff to Brazil cheap, they can help with that. Oh and they sell any number of Brazil themed clothing items. Very nice people.

Matt had been talking about Brazilian steakhouse every time he saw something that reminded him remotely of Fogo de Chao, so I figured this opportunity might be of interest to him. Come to find out that the day after I make the reservation he asks if I'd be willing to go a Brazilian steakhouse for the long weekend, so I got to surprise him with the fact that I already had a reservation. I'm not the biggest fan of Fogo de Chao based on my prior experiences there. I do believe that I have been to a Show de Carnes location before and had another great experience, but also Show de Carnes's Memorial Day promotion was slightly better than Fogo's and I much preferred that their location was outside of the city even if on the other side of the bridge. I did have to call the morning of to delay our reservation slightly, but it was taken care of for us without hassle. We even got seated closer to the original reservation time when we ended up running early. There isn't much space to wait in the front lobby area especially on a packed night, but everything looks very upscale from the wine bottles on the wall to the crystals above the self-serve side buffet. As far as mandatory meats, I have a couple of personal rules when it comes to Brazilian steakhouse, including go light on the sides and only go for the beef. Picanha is my favorite, extra rare too, so I made myself a whole pincanha meat salad while probably giving the guy cutting the meat a good scare. The grilled pineapple is also a must, followed by the cheese and honey. Matt got a lot more variety but it takes a while for the guys to come around with meat that has already been sliced up some so I can get to the parts that I like. We got a papaya cream and passion fruit mousse for dessert, which we probably really didn't need but enjoyed thoroughly as we are both dessert people. As it was a busy night, it was not too easy to flag a server down. I saw picanhas skip our table left and right so I'm not sure there's an established route for them to bring the meat around. The staff did seem to work together with great teamwork, and someone always stopped by to make sure we had more water and our choice of sides. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone that is a protein or all you can eat fan. The regular price per person is definitely steep in my humble opinion, but if you can catch a promo it'll be a great time. Also, don't choose between still or sparkling, ask for tap. I will not be getting got again next time.

The staff is always incredibly friendly, the restaurant is clean with plenty of seating, and the food is consistently amazing. The fish tacos are perfect. And the beans? Chef's kiss. Honestly, even the sides deserve their own review. You can taste the time, care, and effort that goes into making everything from scratch, and the prices absolutely reflect the quality while still feeling very fair. The meats on the tacos were tender and well seasoned. My favorite were the carnitas for their slight crisp. The salsas are spicy but have good flavor. I also love that they come with pickled veggies and radishes! Tamales have a good masa to filling ratio and aren't dry. I was surprised when I ordered the rajas con queso (green pepper with cheese) tamal and it had some red sauce inside. The chilaquiles were a solid breakfast choice too. I wish there was more service/interaction with the client. You pick up your food at the food counter and after you're done you buss your own plates. Parking is limited in their parking lot but there's plenty of street parking around the corner.
